Ive got a p41 that has horrendous bog when warming up and i had the low jet turned out to almost 2 turns and it ran to rich cutting wood so i had to turn it in like it was the high jet, she cuts good warmed up, ive got a carb kit coming so hopefully that will rectify the low end bog, my farm saw and p50 run good with just a crack over 1 turn out on the low and just about 3/4 on the high so im pretty sure the 41 has some carb issues

Nice. I've had my fair share of Pioneers come and go. Still have one fairly mint p41 that was straight gassed and a p61 Western. Some day I'll port them both. You can still buy the dual reeds from boyesen, you just have to email them.

E-mail is in ;) I can't wait to tweak this one. It's rough looking outside (paint) but it's pretty solid. They're dang good in stock form already, should be a good platform to start with. Having one that was mint would be a treat & that P61 Western is an awesome saw!

Ben Hall here on the west coast pioneers are pretty common. I’ve stopped going after them lol. Ugly saws run good too!

Ben Hall I’ve never done a reed saw. I would assume all the usual stuff except for changing the intake duration. ???

@@yotaismygame I'm here in washington state so I agree. We see them more often than others I'm sure. This one was $30 so I had a hard time passing it up haha

Ben Hall Ben Hall oh shoot I was thinking you were on the east coast. I’m in Oregon not terribly far from Washington. I would have a tough time passing that saw up for $30.

I don't know how good you spark is but you have a MAJOR problem somewhere in fuel or spark. First thing is put a transistorized electronic chip in it to do away with the points and condenser...VERY easy to install and GREAT spark. I have a Nova ll chip in SEVERAL of my old saws. Five minutes to install under the flywheel.

Yeah it needs to be gone through. I ran it later after this and it wouldn't rpm at all. It seemed like it was breaking up. Didn't seem fuel related to me. Seemed to me like timing was off so I'm pretty sure it's a spark issue. I've done a bunch of swaps on saws with these. Not the Nova II but same difference. Thanks for the comment. www.ebay.com/itm/Electronic-Ignition-Module-For-John-Deere-M70114-Kawasaki-21119-2095-Rotary-9334/163612007933?hash=item2618091dfd:g:jSMAAOSwWH1cQ0NJ

Also bought a new set of 2 stage Boysen reeds for it. Bottom line, the whole thing needs to be gone through & inspected

Dosent take 30 pulls to pull fuel

    • @samishsawworks5870

Although I've had many that take well more than 10-15 pulls to prime/start, you're correct. The jetting was definitely off on this saw.
