On December 2, 2022, Monroe County Sheriff deputies responded to a residence to locate a male and female who had warrants in Tomah, WI. As they tried to make contact with the female at the residence, she initially refused to come out. Eventually, she called 911 to report an emergency at Walmart in an attempt to get the deputies to leave. She soon admitted to making the false report. Shortly after, they observed her suspicious behavior and believed the male was possibly in the vicinity.

Why can’t every police department have access to 911 call recordings like this? My ex boyfriend assaulted me, I called 911 (where you can hear everything happening) I was hysterical & he was calm. They decided I was the initial aggressor. I’d never even had detention in school before/in trouble for anything - all of a sudden I’m being arrested for domestic violence after being assaulted. $7k later obviously everything was dropped but WHY COULDNT THEY HAVE HAD ACCESS TO THE 911 RECORDING WHILE THEY WERE DETERMINING WHO TO ARREST!?!?!?!?! Seriously WHY!?!?!?!

Don't know if different areas have different protocols - but where I live a hang up on a 911 call will generate a request to have police go to the caller's location to see if there is an emergency there. 911 would not have been aware of the police presence over the warrants but when 911 called the police dispatch that operator would have been. I think the 911 operator was suspicious about why the witness called her mom rather than 911 directly - but stuff like that can happen. Between the 2 operators they sorted it pretty quickly!
