I’m late to the party here, but what I really love about Carcass is their lack of fear of evolving. Every album shows a different representation of where they were at in terms of creativity and inspiration. Their unwillingness to shoehorn themselves into the constraints of a genre really gave them an unbridled sense of songwriting and arrangement, and I really respect that. Glad to see they’re at it again with some new music.

@@bigmatt1994 It was so out of the field though, but I do dig Swansong. Black star is probably my fav on it. On point saying it is groovy, but I wish they would go back to their "Necrotic" ways lol. It seems they adopted to stay the melodic path of Heartwork, rather than the brutality of their earlier work, or the crispness and savagery of Necroticism, or the groovy Swansong.

Necroticism was their best album IMO, and it along with Heartwork captures the unique sound they had. Everybody in goregrind has since tried their hand at the sound of Reek and Symphony, but the early 90s was when the band did something I wish would've caught on more. Not a fan of Swansong, but I appreciate that the band never pidgeonholed themselves into one genre.

No shit. You can't even take one hour a week of non prime time television for a whole genre. But this is the company that didn't wanna scare their demographic with homies until hip hop was all that kids listened to. An even sadder BET network.

Look how close Bill is sitting to Jeff, and the space on the couch at the start when it's just Jeff. He clearly joined later on. :)

I always thought their earlier stuff they were trying too hard to be brutal. With the lyrics and what not anyhow. Incredible musicians I just saw them a couple weeks back, finally. 18 year old me shat his pants. But let's be real. Hitting the medical dictionary and then pulling out the thesaurus doesn't make one more brutal. Just hip. Hipster death metal lyrics.
