One of my favourite things about this show is how good both the young and older actresses are at playing the characters. It’s so believable that these girls grew up to become those women.
I'm hooked, the pilot was great! The thing with the rabbit.. she didn't just coldly kill it, she had to flip a switch off inside herself. The acting and directing are amazing to catch something so subtle in a realistic way. We will probably see her learn how to do that in later episodes.
It's a really good form of storytelling. Show the audience something shocking to grab their attention, and then make you want to see the journey that led them to that path, as well as pondering the mystery of which girl was the victim and why.
Another thing I noticed after watching again, when Shauna is trying on outfits to wear to the party and Jackie shoots them down, Jackie says Why don't you wear the red dress I bought for you. Shauna protests What if I don't want to wear the red dress. But when they go to the party you see that Shauna is wearing a red dress. It was another sign I missed before of how controlling Jackie is in the relationship.

Agreed!! Almost every reviewer says "back on the island"... I'm thinking no! This is not lost! They are not on an island! Lol so yes! Very happy this channel understood this too. 👏
They aren't in Ontario though, they in in either British Columbia or Alberta in the Canadian Rockies. More likely they are in Alberta because that's where the mountains are denser which means less cities around them and would be why it took so long to find them.
Sorry if I have too many comments here. This is one of those shows that really intrigues me. The montage with the INXS song as they are getting ready to leave tells us the most important characters for the 1996 story line, as well as little nuggets of information about them. Jackie, Shauna, Taissa, Natalie, Lottie, Laura, Misty, Travis, Van. Lottie eats breakfast alone, except for the housekeeper who brings her meds. She later tells Van paying for the plane is her dad's form of parenting. Van's mom must be a drug addict or alcoholic and Van has to smack her to wake her up to drive Van to the airport. Remains to be seen if it has any bearing on her character in future episodes. Jackie looks troubled about something. Since she later tells Shauna that Jeff told her he loves her and she didn't say it back, I wonder if that is what it is. Travis really looks annoyed that he has to go, and the mom's lack of affection when the dad tries to kiss her goodbye shows that there are problems with the marriage. It's clear that Shauna has resentment towards Jackie's controlling nature and assumptions about her. Jackie takes it for granted that Shauna will be her dorm mate in college and that she already picked out the colors for their room. She turns off the music Shauna is playing in the car to play something else. She crapped on Shauna's party dress and brings up Randy Walsh liking Shauna, when Shauna has no interest in him.. When Jeff drives them home from the party, Jackie insists on being dropped off first, even though Shauna's house is closer and Shauna protests that she is past her curfew too. Between applying to a different college and sleeping with Jeff, Shauna is trying to rebel against Jackie's control over her.

I thought the pilot was so well done, and you do a great job giving insightful commentary on the production, and acting. It's been a while since a show made me this interested and I love watching videos on people who like watching as much as me!

"Influence" is such a "now" word, in this world of media influencers. No one used that word in the 90s except to talk about lobbyists. They would have called her a leader.

Yeah, a lot of things you need to rewatch the episodes to pause to be able to read things that briefly flash across the screen. Like the journal Shauna reads in Jackie's room that lists movies that came out after 1996.
When Shauna confronts Taissa at the party, notice how Van tries to hold Shauna back. Given the romance we see between Taissa and Van later on, one wonders if they were secretly an item before they leave for Nationals, or if they hadn't revealed their feelings to each other yet
It's so weird watching Jazmine on TV.. Her n her mom Paula have been friends of mine since Jazmine was 11.. She's such a great daughter and person.. She is a really sweat girl.. I'm so happy her dreams are coming true.. 🤗
Yes totally hooked hoping for a long series full of juicy details. I never considered someone out in the mountains before they got there. Anybody got a good theory as to what caused the plane crash? Could Misty be behind that too? Is that what she was contemplating watching the rat in the pool?
That’s a good point. She did sabotage the black box, which , would that have changed anything? Or maybe it was just a foreshadowing of being small and helpless in a huge space. (Like being stranded in the woods) love this show!! Love yalls theories!!
@@shank77tl we don't know and we don't need to know. It wasn't Misty sabotaging it. How could she possibly know she would survive a plane crash? The only reason she destroys the beacon is because a moment before she overheard a couple of girls talking about how amazing Misty was and thank God for her. All her life Misty was disliked and an outcast. She was now in a situation where she could shine. She knew that once they were rescued, she would no longer be in an environment where she was valued by her peers. That's really all there is to it.

Is she that crazy that without guarantee of survival she would do it anyway.? And you made a good case for her motive, as an outcast desperate to change her environment, so desperate for approval to even go that low
i really enjoyed the video. not at all a criticism, can you record your editorial a little louder? us hard of hearing folks may struggle with how soft and quiet you voice is.

I'm curious who everyone thinks the girl that falls into the pit is..I was almost sure it had to be Lottie, but a kit of people seem to have other ideas..no one else has that hair tho..It is strange that she is wearing g Jackie's necklace, but who knows what has happened..Jackie could have given Lottie her necklace at some point..
An odd thing I noticed is that there are some web pages that have a character on the show called Cat Wheeler played by Amy Okuda. She is described as a teacher who helps out with the team. But the only time you see her is briefly in the hallway talking to Coach Ben. I wonder if her character got cut from the show. I suspect Ben expected or was hoping to sleep with her at Nationals, which explains why he has so many condoms on him in episode 6. If she was on the plane and dies in the crash, it might have added to Ben's trauma and sadness. Maybe the showrunners decided Cat Wheeler was one character too many, and cut her scenes out.
A redditor posted some early scripts for the pilot and a LOT was cut or rearranged. For instance, Van was supposed to have a remixed version of the Adult Travis storyline, and Coach Ben was supposed to have a partner. I agree with what you’ve said!

However, if it was Cat and Cat is supposed to be a teacher, she would have taken some kind of leadership role after the crash. So the Asian girl must be one of the team benchwarmers. I see now the Flight Attendant Janet grave sign.
I think it has something to do with Nat being the huntress of the group. In the wilderness, each girl takes on a special role within the group and over the course of 19 months her purpose became about securing food for the pack. Then that purpose was stripped away from her when they all got rescued and separated over the years. I’m sure it wasn’t easy to readjust to normal civilian life, and like I said in the video, without the greater social hierarchy her team brings, Nat becomes almost lost and aimless.
@@lucas-xu3wu I feel like Callie might be instigating something. She stole Jackie's cheerleading uniform, so she's seen Shauna's secret stash of memorabilia. I feel like she's the blackmailer, and potentially the girl in the pit.

Misty didn't sabotage the plane. It was a private jet so it wasn't as strong and able to handle the stress like a commercial airliner would.
