Waoooo. This video is truly technically deep. I would surely be watching this video several times to get the hang of those sub-systems pages. Fantastic work ED.
I vote for Wagner, dropping all tutorials in one day and release the Apache tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃. Lord we are thankful for all the knowledge Wagner provides and ED for endless hours of entertainment they provide us. Amen.
@Matt Wagner. I'm not as well versed in bashing gravity into submission so there maybe an obvious answer for this. Around the 8:00 mark you describe the stabilator position. Specifically that exceeding a specific airspeed based on that position will result in a loss of pitch authority. From what I understand attitude including pitch is usually controlled by the swashplate and possibly even rotor tilt, but what you're describing sounds more like a fixed wing concept. Oh......wait. Nevermind. I was getting the numbers you were on about backwards. Exceed a certain speed and the swashplate pitch authority can no longer offset the tail stabs lift. It's counter intuitive because the chopper at high speed forward flight is significantly nose down and may need MORE downward stab to maintain the desired angle of attack. So while downward stab seems like a negative pitch moment it's angle of attack may actually be quite low. Remember the difference between AoA and angle of Incidence folks
The speed indication he is referring to is only if the stab fails and no longer responds to movement commands. In this case, you shouldn't exceed the indicated speed for the reason specified. The stabilator isn't for airspeed, it's for maintaining a suitable fuselage attitude. In fact, at high speeds it is slightly trailing edge up to prevent an excessive nose-down attitude. The fuselage pitch can be adjusted independantly of the rotor disk because of the stabilator. On the flip side, at low airspeeds when flying at NOE altitudes, the crew can manually slew the stab trailing edge down, which will lift up the tail and give the crew better over-the-nose visibility.
I assume you are using the Warthog throttle on this video, could you turn the LED lights on it to FULL or OFF brightness? This will stop the slight zoom input fluctuation because thats caused by the PWM circuitry for diming the LED lights introducing magnetic interference in the hall sensor. At 10:29 you can see the zoom axis being quite unstable by looking at the edges of the screen, they are jumping
At the very start of the video, are those new vehicle types? I literally cannot find something like those trucks with mounted guns on them for my anti-insurgency missions/mission editor. Unless those are just statics that don't move.
I just purchased the Huey for 50% off. It’s my first helicopter in DCS. I recently saw a RUclips video of a DCS Squadron preparing for the AH64D Apache launch by doing training in the Huey. I’ve never flown a helicopter and after seeing that video and seeing that the Huey was 50% off, I figured it would be a good idea to buy the Huey, so I can start learning the basics of flying a helicopter, in preparation for the Apache, which I’m definitely going to buy. When do you expect the AH-64D to be released? I’m really hoping it gets released before Christmas.
I really start want to start flying with that squadron if they're getting ready... I'm in Apache pilot in real life and I'd like to start getting a good group together and teaching them the ways of the force.
I wish they would add some assistance to control the torque effect of helicopter for those that don't have and can't afford anti-torque pedals. I want this AH-64D but unfortunately I won't be able to fly this without pedals...
I can't wait for this AWT, but what I noticed right off the bat are the technical trucks. So Wags are we getting new and updated models and equipment? I really hope so because the insurgents need more stuff to blow up besides a few cargo trucks and 2 infantry models. Any word on a updated FARP?
The Technicals will be coming in a later update. The old FARPS are a thing of the past. You can now create a FARP or FOB anywhere using the new ME features.
I wonder... does Wags really record this all in one 18 minute stretch, with no mistakes? Or are there outtake reels out there we need to see? There's no way I could read that off for 18 minutes without fluffing a line, and in such melodious tones as well! If so, kudos to his voice acting skills.
Another great example of Hardcore Porn to brighten my day. Along with many other people here, I am sure, I so want the EA version to come out. I have annual leave from work pending and severe amounts of stimulants to keep me awake through the nights. I might even consider illicit ones if needs be :) I was watching the video progress bar whilst playing the video, hoping it would slow down and delay getting to the end of the video. Off to watch 100 more times, and also looking for Casmo's talk through of Matt's video Thanks Matt

There are a thousand reasons to not buy this this module. Luckily, I have a poor memory and forgot all of them.

It will probably be the last video prior to release given the number of systems that must first be completed.
