Fun fact: the big open space in the middle of the food court was a giant Italian double decker carousel. It was a historic landmark. Sadly though in 2015 it was removed because it was not able to fit in the canceled new floor plan. It was sold.
When this was built, it never had theaters until years later. This was a much nicer mall then Stratford Square or Fox Valley because it was easier to get around and less crowded.
I remember when this mall was built.. I was here for the grand opening. There were so many people it was like cattle being herded.. It shut down because the owners of the mall kept increasing the rent and the stores died off one at a time... Growing up in STC it was awesome to be able to walk here from high school. We would run from the security guards when we were skipping... It was a good day if we could get in about 20$ worth of MK2 at the Arcade before getting busted... Ahhh the good ol days...
It's really sad what happened to this mall. I was born in 2003 and I have many fond memories of this place. the gumball machine array at 2:25 was where I had my first watermelon gumball back in 2008, a little memory that stays with me from this mall.
I worked out in Batavia from about 2002-2006 and used to stop in here from time to time on the way home. I remember about 2005ish some stores began to close. Geneva Commons, with higher end shops, had been open for 5 years or so no doubt taking business away. A few years back I stopped in Von Maur just to check it out..working at that mall must have been depressing as hell. It's a shame it hasn't been redevloped in all these years. Probably will cost more to retro fit the area, than it would to just tear it all down.
This mall use to have a lot of stuff. A playground, carousel, movie theatre, and lot of stores. One by one they kept closing. Only one thing survived was the movie theatre. The mall close down and the big stores stay open. The big stores closed down one by one. There is a von mour store still there but the movie theatre got renovated.
I remember riding on the carousel that used to be there it sucks that they got rid of it also they had a whole meeting santa thing during December my grandpa recorded a bunch of videos when we were kids meeting santa there I watched the decline it just stopped being popular they had a play area that you passed where kids used to play while parents shopped whatever this mall was is gone now but still in my memories
MAKE IT INTO SOMETHING ELSE DONT JUST LEAVE IT THERE it’s so annoying that there not using this huge building for something new like mabye a store or a sports complex or something close to that.

Wait, they took out the carousel? Wow that mall was the place to be in the early 90s. So many memories there.

The mall that looks exactly like this is the standing and abandon Medley Center mall (AKA Irondiquent Mall)

I also think that the opening of Geneva Commons in 2002 brought some owners there instead and more and more people started to follow.

Cody Cowan Random question did you go to Richmond
Charlestowne cc 18 will never die. It’s the only thing there that anyone rally goes to and it’s going strong.
It's the best theater in the area. I hope the kung flu hasn't hurt it too much.

Odd how here in Florida you still see new mall's being built.
duramax in st charles it doesent matter because of historical (or however you spell it) places like hotel baker, arcada, norris center,
The mall died because of Ganeva Commons was built not 5 miles away and not far from Naperville, Oakbrook and other place with the same stores.
ian said this mall is crap but i dont know
