  • ■ SRI LANKA, NEGOMBO: After a grueling two and a half hour Tuk-Tuk ride we finally arrived at my driver's village home. Before we even entered the house it was quite adamant that this house has huge potential but was still under construction. He still has loans on both the property and the Rickshaw so it is a tedious work on progress. He saves up money, invests then takes time off to build. Once the money runs out he repeats.
So what did the house look like as of right now and how long has it been under construction? And how many people are already living here plus how many will move in in the future?

    Hello Harald Baldr,
I'm from sri lanka... first of all, it is nice to see that you have found a better "guide" than that poor chap Jeremy... most of the times you were with jeremy in that video, you were overcharged by others (because you are a foreigner) and he did nothing. that snake charmer charged around ten times higher. I'm not complaining about your kind heart, but Jeremy let them to cheat you and did nothing.
but on the other hand this person the tuk tuk driver, he was always loyal to you and protected you.
    - once you gave vegetables to that lady, initially she was happy but after she tired to get more things/money from you. the tuk tuk driver lied her and rushed away.
    - when you were at the liquor shop, he double checked the bottle whether it was a local one (as you wished) or not, and highly concerned about its price.
    - even in his house, he lied for you. he said her wife that you had a stomach ache as the reason to drink alcohol. (normally in sri lanka wives/mothers do not accept their husband/sons to drink and let others to drink too)
    ----------- for your knowledge ----------
    - 5 lakhs in sri lankan rupees means around 3000 USD.
    - same as "Hotels", "tea" is also a confused one here. in general usage, "tea" means milk added tea. (same as you were given here). but if you want a tea (actually a real tea... :) ) you need to ask for a "plain tea"... !
milk added tea ("tea") is served for a guest with more respect... !
    - in generally, the word "current" (and "light" also) is used for mean electricity.
