I'm always on Twitter! @lizduckchong
I wrote this tab a long time ago now, close to 4 years, and it's in no way a complete representation of Cockburn's amazing piece, but it's a great little insight into what I wrote back then. Such a beautiful tune, I'm so glad to finally share it.
There's a bit of buzz at around 1:00 simply because my setup has a few grounding issues with this guitar, but I'm getting those fixed!
Don't just listen to me, support the artists and BUY the music!
Speechless - Bruce Cockburn (itunes.apple.c...)
Young lady, I am simply blown away by your presentation of one of my favorite Bruce Cockburn songs. It's obvious that you are not only a guitar virtuoso but also one who is deeply in tune with this man's music. I've always considered Bruce one of music's true treasures. I was blessed to be able to enjoy an evening with him at the Fillmore in San Francisco many years ago and cherish those memories. God Bless You.
Thank you, that's incredibly kind. I'm yet to see him perform, it's at the top of my bucket list but I've not yet had the pleasure!

How I wish Liz would return to doing these unbelievable spiritual pieces❤
Beautifully done! I've been a BC fan for 40 years. Seen him in concert many times. You honor him with your craft. Keep up the good work!
Just loving your version of this Cocburn classic. Thanks for sharing it with the world, Liz 🩷 🧡 💛 🧡 🩷
Thank you!
I really appreciate your interpretation of this inspirational song... I've tried attacking it periodically for 40 years, and give up when I can't sound exactly like Bruce, but seriously, I doubt anyone has ever sounded exactly like the master.
I have employed several elements of this track in many of my songs, but after hearing and seeing you perform your interpretation of it I believe I am inspired to make yet another attempt. Thank you for posting.
Thank you so much for your comment! Definitely keep at it - his instrumentals are the gift that keep on giving.
This song has always moved me when I’ve heard it played by Mr. Cockburn. Your version has done so also. An incredibly complex song yet so beautiful. Thanks for posting it.
Thank you so much! I have seen him play this song live in '75, 82 and 2016. Your interpretation makes me smile ☺
wonderful performance 🙌
You are so awesome. 2020
Great cover of a difficult piece. Good to hear Cockburn’s guitar work being covered.
What a treat! Beautiful rendition of a beautiful song played on a beautiful guitar. Masters, all.
Beautiful
Oh heck yes! A hundred thumbs up. I've heard this before...nicely played Liz.
Very nice job! This song was my introduction to Cockburn over 35 years ago. Look forward to more of your work!
Thank you! Definitely, this is one of his pieces that has always stood out for me. I've tabbed a lot of his work over the years and can't wait to practise some of it up to scratch for the channel!
Just excellent,…. Great choice of music from Bruce ockburn.
you just killed that song, learning guitar now at age 51 and i just don't seem to have the gift as clearly you do, awesome vid and thanks.
thank you! :)

Bravissima!
Mayi have the tab of this amazing song.... Congraulations for your fantastic cover.
Hey Dale, unfortunately I don't share TABs for these pieces. Thank you though!
Elizabeth Duck-Chong I saw him for the 6th time in 3 years in NYC you as a virtuoso need to meet him! he stays around after every show to talk and autograph bring your guitar and he will auto it for you he autographed my Guild Subway guitar
MrLeondo Aww, that's a very kind compliment! Yeah, seeing him perform is one of the only things I have on my bucket list, his music has been one of the driving forces of my life. I hope by the time I meet him I'll have bound a copy of all of the Speechless tabs for him to sign :)
well done!
I think this woman is beautiful :)
Nice job! Can you tell me something more about the guitar? The top looks like Sitka (rather than her standard German), and the thin sliver of the body that I can see at the cutaway appears to be maple.
Liz....? are you an angel?
Your missing the hammer on, pull off trill when you start the main part of the song at 1:42..otherwise, nice job
Great job. What's the tuning on this? Open D tuning, DADGAD?
Just drop D - 6th string down to D. I'm always amazed at the tunes that Cockburn can weave out of tunings so close to standard.
Wow! Just drop-D??? No kidding! It sounds totally all alternate tuning! I play Foxglove and sounded similar in tuning so that's why I figured it was so different!
guibox3 He's a master, that's for sure.
Amazing, did you learn by ear?
transcribed by ear and then learned from the transcription, but yes!
