perhaps this would help, I saw a video earlier where a lady was using watercolour to decorate her cotton shirt, before she washed it, she ironed the top and then washed it out, none of the colours seemed to see out. very informative though! Thanks !
Hey if you are still monitoring this video, first of all thank you for sharing your test! Secondly, some pigments are staining, some not, so I was wondering if you by any chance remember the brands and colours of paint you used as that may have had an influence on the outcome.
Kathy, that is a very good point about some pigments staining more than others. I honestly do not remember which watercolor paints I used for this but I am inclined to possibly redo the test...and I think I will use all one color the next time.
Ruth, I am looking for a way to create permanent paint from my watercolors, salvaged printer ink, and dye based reinkers. I work on both paper and fabric. I use both stamps and brushes. I'm finding I don't use my products because I want permanence. I saw your video, but I do not see the actual product images. Could you please revisit this? I presently own Delta textile medium, modge podge, liquitex clear jesso, and Masters Touch gloss jell. Which of these will work best for creating stamping ink from above mentioned products? Thanks! .
I think the Folk Art and the Delta ran pretty much neck-and-neck. However you can get Delta in a much smaller bottle than you can Folk Art so if you're just needing a small amount Delta would be a good choice, otherwise if you need a larger amount. Folk Art is about $13 a bottle here is an Amazon link: amzn.to/3jj8cdU

The only one of those choices that would make something permanent would be the Delta fabric medium but I would test it before trusting it.
@@ruthinmanart4063 Thanks for the quick reply! I'll be working on this in the next few days! I'll let you know how it goes.
Do you mix the mediums with regular acrylic paint ?
This test was actually with Watercolor paint... I have not done it with acrylic, you could try the same test...
at the 28 second mark.. i mentioned this is watercolor
Dear Ruth Inman
Thank you, this was a very interesting experiment. I think I may attempt something similar.
Very informative. Just the video I was looking for! Thanks :)
Glad it helped!
Did you iron the fabric with a steam iron. That may have put steam holes on the fabric.
No, I had not ironed it, and if you recall the polka dots were not there before it got wet
Yes it works on acrylics 50/50 mix
So what is the product that was most effective? Sorry, I think I missed it.
