The people understand that these companys are doing this from a moral highground “we need more black people” “we need to make him bisexual” look at star wars the acolyte. Its super telling. I believe that the bigest problem with AC:Shadows is that Ubisoft has marketed the game to be historicaly accurate part when it comes to Yasuke and the historical events in the game, they've even claimed on video that you will be able to learn about Japanese history by playing the game. Then we have the architecture in the game witch doesn't match japanese architecture it is closer to chinese architecture and then you also have the Japanese language witch they have mixed up chinese characters with japanese, yasuke became a part of the problem because they claimed he is historicaly accurate in the game and when they asked ubisoft why they chose Yasuke they responded with "we were looking for our Samurai" witch can sound like they chose him only because he is black even tho we don't know if that is the case or not as no company would admit such a thing to the public.
Speaking of being cynical in regard to Ubisoft, no love to them, but I haven't really seen this same sentiment exentded in all the white savior Japanese movies or the constant games that give you a white western protagonist in a feudal Japan setting. There are so many well acclaimed stories like the blue eyed samurai, nioh, and even recently shogun that have worked well from the basis of a non traditional native Japanese person (or straight up foreigner) navigating feudal Japan where they stuck out even more then than they would today. There's nothing historically inaccurate about that setting alone and if a video game wants to go that route go ahead. It also seems so SO very ironic that this somehow got to the Japanese government. Like seriously how people seen how they portray black people (or just literally don't)? I do think it's murky water overall. The actual line of what's cultural appropriation, appreciation, and empowerment these days is muddy as bloody hell. But again, the cynical and me just noticed discrepancies and at the end of the day I don't believe for a microsecond anyone who has a real problem with "historical accuracy" gives a hoot about a singular black looking character in feudal Japan. What they care about is representation and it is in part a valid argument made so much valid when BS excuse reasons are given like "historical accuracy".
If I was a college football fan and I haven’t been able to play that game in over two years I think I would have paid 100.00 to play it early. I love CoD. Now it’s on GamePass I won’t pay to play it early. I’ll keep my GamePass member ship active. Maybe even buy a couple years of GamePass up front
The Assassin Creed situation is simple. The Greek game had Greek characters, Egyptian had Egyptian characters, Middle Eastern had Middle Eastern character, Valhalla had Norwegian viking characters, etc. They went out of their way to not continue the pattern for the long-awaited Japanese game.

The protagonists themselves are a character with two Egyptian parents and one with both Greek and Egyptian parents. In truth its a 14 year delayed game that resurfaced in 2018 with a 2019 release date and since then they have been doing the same exact shit time and time again. Battle of Adwa Is an African war in which Italian colonialist were pushed back from colonial expansion in Africa. So are we going to pretend that we have the same energy that if that was the setting of an assassin's Creed game? And we had two protagonists, a black woman and a white man who was some historical figure in the area. At the time that helped Africa and his importance may or may not be valid. Would we be okay with that? Because I can guarantee you All the people defending this situation and calling people racist would be up in arms themselves. They would be able to easily find the nuance and logical reasoning as to why this is bad but they could never do the same thing for assassin's Creed Shadow. It's not difficult actually to understand that the choices about this game were made for activist reasons and Ubisoft are using historical context as a blanket to defend their actions. This is the first assassin's Creed game to ever use a historical figure as a main character that wasn't by accident. But in no way shape or form. But they have just made a black person the main character of this game without a way to defend it. My only question really is about why did they do this to Japanese people specifically like there are plenty of other assassin's Creed's where a black main character makes perfect sense for the setting with no question of its authenticity. And for all of you who are still questioning what I'm saying or think it's based on racism. First off, I'm black and second off. You need to look up who Thomas lockley is and what his connection is to this situation. And for those of you who are too lazy, I'll give you some cliff notes. He wrote a book about 10 years ago. Well, technically he wrote two books with the exact same title that he pretended were the same book. One of them was sold to Western audiences and the other was sold to Japanese audiences. The western book he exaggerates and makes up a whole bunch of shit that he claimedes historical fact about yusuke and the Japanese version. He only claims these possibly could be true or some of the claims he just doesn't even try to get past Japanese audiences. As of recently he has been put under fire for editing multiple websites including Wikipedia to make those websites match his book. He also has had his resume removed from a Japanese University because of this. Pretty much all depictions of yusuke in modern day media links back to Thomas lockley as a source. Thomas lockley was also a source for assassin's Creed Shadow. Point is there's a lot of shady things happening right now involving this character and the accuracy of his betrayal and none of them come down to racism. Like I said earlier, I'm black and my claims aren't baseless. Look it up yourself. I want you to actually.

So are we going to pretend that we have the same energy that if that was the setting of an assassin's Creed game? And we had two protagonists, a black woman and a white man who was some historical figure in the area. At the time that helped Africa and his importance may or may not be valid. Would we be okay with that?
Because I can guarantee you All the people defending this situation and calling people racist would be up in arms themselves. They would be able to easily find the nuance and logical reasoning as to why this is bad but they could never do the same thing for assassin's Creed Shadow. It's not difficult actually to understand that the choices about this game were made for activist reasons and Ubisoft are using historical context as a blanket to defend their actions. This is the first assassin's Creed game to ever use a historical figure as a main character that wasn't by accident. But in no way shape or form. But they have just made a black person the main character of this game without a way to defend it. My only question really is about why did they do this to Japanese people specifically like there are plenty of other assassin's Creed's where a black main character makes perfect sense for the setting with no question of its authenticity.
And for all of you who are still questioning what I'm saying or think it's based on racism. First off, I'm black and second off. You need to look up who Thomas lockley is and what his connection is to this situation. And for those of you who are too lazy, I'll give you some cliff notes. He wrote a book about 10 years ago. Well, technically he wrote two books with the exact same title that he pretended were the same book. One of them was sold to Western audiences and the other was sold to Japanese audiences. The western book he exaggerates and makes up a whole bunch of shit that he claimedes historical fact about yusuke and the Japanese version. He only claims these possibly could be true or some of the claims he just doesn't even try to get past Japanese audiences. As of recently he has been put under fire for editing multiple websites including Wikipedia to make those websites match his book. He also has had his resume removed from a Japanese University because of this. Pretty much all depictions of yusuke in modern day media links back to Thomas lockley as a source. Thomas lockley was also a source for assassin's Creed Shadow.
Point is there's a lot of shady things happening right now involving this character and the accuracy of his betrayal and none of them come down to racism. Like I said earlier, I'm black and my claims aren't baseless. Look it up yourself. I want you to actually.
Just going to say, if being happy that an assassins creed game based in persia, had Persian characters, based in Egypt has Egyptian characters, etc, how is it racist to want the Japanese based game to have Japanese characters? Deliberately making your game less realistic, also makes it less credible and risks it becoming rediculous.
Why are yall put these ideas in the universe... smh. Yall know they listen to the podcast. Xbox needs to keep their games on their platform. So moronic of them.

I have no reservations of Xbox supporting Switch, it will give their games a Platform in Japan. If they did Xbox, PC and Nintendo I wouldn't have an issue, when you add in PlayStation who continue to block and money hat games away from Xbox, that is a stupid road to go down for Xbox imo.
They are going full multiplat, 90-95 percent games will only be pc and Xbox.
