when i built our boat i used a plan from *BoatPlans.4YourHelp. Com* (remove space and open the website) and it had all the blueprints, supplies, materials, and list well laid out for me.
Very nice. Impressive especially the use of common materials which makes a great deal of sense. Thank you for sharing all the hard work of the build and especially the video.
Great build and great vlog. You did a great job on this boat. Thanks for sharing this with all of us. I admire your skills. One critical point, that foam appears to be open cell and all that type will do, hold water and rot your beautiful boat. Gotta use closed cell foam for flotation. Just my 2 cents.
Hi there don't know why you don't have more comments for that is a great boat and video. doesn't she sit well in the water you should be well pleased with yourself. well done. johno ireland
Thanks! I love the way the boat rides. It gets up on plane in a few seconds. I have been on the bay for over 40 years and I am going places that I could never go before with this boat. It takes very little wter to float and can easily be pulled through the shallows.
Hi it is a nice looking boat I was thinking about building one myself Hopefully with my son as a father son project but just learned jeff has passed away last year and plans are no longer available I was wondering if you still have tham and will you share I live at south Carolina Myrtle Beach I also like to know how do you like the boat thanks for your time and hope to hear from you soon
Did you fillet the frames on the inside of the boat? I am building an albion now and was curious, I can see where it would help but also seems redundant.
Yes I did fillet the frames. The plywood did not match up perfectly. I then removed most of the screws holding the ply to the frames. This year i also modified the self bailing sole. I cut the back out and took the foam out and put in a bilge pump. The sole was about even with the water line and was not self bailing
Looks like you used full dimension lumber on the build, I bet you could have made her a lot lighter by paring down those frames. Any idea how much she weighed?
At minute 03.00 one can see that the second deep V frame goes over to a fully straight lined frame. This passage creates a difficult new angle. It should have been avoided. Either by an extra frame or by slightly V frame instead of the straight one.
wilsonatore as long as the scuppers are well above the water line. I am taking them out because it was borderline and I was getting water in the boat. I am going to cut the floor out in the back and make a bilge well for a pump and put 2 transom drain plugs in. One on either side of the keel. I also am taking the foam out. There is really no need for it
Yes I would not have made it a self bailing deck and i did add spray rails for a dryer ride I did cut out the back of the sole and added a bilge pump Otherwise she rides great in the chop I did a few follow up videos

Great and beautiful project!… and beautiful songs too!
It sure turned out a lot better than I thought it would in the beginning.... great work!

Absolutely exceptional work and beautiful finished product. It's also exactly the design I've been looking for....
Great build! Thanks for posting. Enjoy the fishing.
Mega! Awesome ! Has always been one of my dreams. To build a boat. Thanks a million!

I’m building a Spira Tangier, Lobster style boat. How long did it take you to build?
7 months of nights and weekends
Did you fillet the frames on the inside of the boat? I am building an albion now and was curious, I can see where it would help but also seems redundant.

Awesome job 👍👍👍
Great build, where did you get the plans for this boat
Spira International has the plans
Awesome build! What type(brand) fiberglass and epoxy did you use and where did you get it?
Aeromarine 2 part epoxy blush free and 2 coats of 6 oz glass
great boat, great build. Question... did you glass the interior?
No I epoxied the interior
Looks like you used full dimension lumber on the build, I bet you could have made her a lot lighter by paring down those frames. Any idea how much she weighed?
about 800 pounds without the motor and center console
I feel that the heavier boat has a better ride and therefore more enjoyable in rougher water...
hellom man what kind of wood . did you use in the ribs???
How many people can ride on it comfortably? Im looking for a family boat design. Up to 6 people. I was also looking at the Galveston Garvey Dory.
At minute 03.00 one can see that the second deep V frame goes over to a fully straight lined frame. This passage creates a difficult new angle. It should have been avoided. Either by an extra frame or by slightly V frame instead of the straight one.
So with the foam added for floatation and the scuppers, is it self bailing?
wilsonatore as long as the scuppers are well above the water line. I am taking them out because it was borderline and I was getting water in the boat. I am going to cut the floor out in the back and make a bilge well for a pump and put 2 transom drain plugs in. One on either side of the keel. I also am taking the foam out. VERY WELL DONE! Beautiful boat!
a few years later - any lessons learned? things you would do differently on the build?
Yes I would not have made it a self bailing deck and i did add spray rails for a dryer ride I did cut out the back of the sole and added a bilge pump Otherwise she rides great in the chop I did a few follow up videos
Was it Hard to get a Registration on your new Boat, from your State..??
Not really Had to go to DMV and get the forms Then have the marine police inspect the boat Then go back to DMV and get the HID
Really nice build, clean lines best build I've seen in years congrats
Thanks!
I used kiln dried pine 2x4
Mantap boat baru
What brand/type of paint did you use; would you recommend it to a friend, where did you get it?
Boat looks great.

Ever see with a well?
it is optional
Rollers are death to wooden hulls.
I did take the foam out of the back it was holding water
Well done.
et c'est fascinant ce boulot
👍👍👍👍👍
ce métier m’intéresse beaucoup
looks like a spiradesign......
sweet
You can only fit 3 on this one.
so 3 Adults only? maybe i have to look at a different length design then. my target was 5-6 people.
Michael Muschket I have other videos of the boat in action with 3 people on it. Check those out.
thank you. You did an amazing job on this one.
Do you think the Hatteras 19ft would fit more people?
maybe 5 people You can ask Jeff Spira He is available to answer your questions on the other models Thanks It handles well in the choppy water
sounds good. I will ve using it on a lake 98% of the time.
It's the crudest build I've ever seen...
banmadabon show me your build
Im almost done and mine is a little more crude. I used 2.5" oak planks and designed it myself
