I was thinking the same thing. I tried to film three things one the day it came out and every time the go pro froze up and I had to miss the shot and remove the battery to unfreeze the camera.
Man, so good to see DJI really stepping up to compete with GoPro! Now they just need to up their FPV game haha.

yes it does! i mentioned it very briefly but that’s how most of the clips are stabilised here
Gopro suck i have the 11 mini and sometiems im playing with it 45 mins just to try n record .
can you explain why you're comparing DJI Action 4 with old GoPros ? Literally GoPro Hero 12 is getting released next month. Wouldn't that be a fair comparison ? Why this rush?

Great video! There are rumors about gopro 12 releasing 1inch sensor 😱😱 I am going to wait a little before buy the OSMO! I really care a lot about the 8:7 Ratio! And if this is true… 1inch sensor will be a killer if if if if the fix the overheating problem
having a 1inch sensor which is also 8:7 is kind of wild for gopro to do and would definitely overheat… or maybe they are just calling it once inch because the height makes up some surface area haha regardless will be super interesting

Well, GoPro improved image quality a lot actually. Just try to compare Hero 8 vs. 11.
They introduced GoPro Labs, 4K 50 FPS 4:3, new chip, 10 bit color and new sensor in Hero 11...
You can choose aspect ratio in GoPro player / Reelsteady as well.
They introduced Hero 11 Mini.
How can you claim that they did no improve?
DJI has at least 1/3 of Hero potential... e.g. and they do not have own app for stabilization based on gyro data.
I use 2 x Hero 10, GoPro Labs & RealSteady daily and this model did not freeze at all, even once. Naked Hero 10 works perfectly also with small cinewhoop like cinelog 25 or QAV 2.5 - sub 250 g.
As a FPV pilot you should really consider overall performance and benefits and do not make people confused.
i’m talking about optical image quality here, just because someone goes from 4k to 5.3k doesn’t meant the image got better it was thanks to the chip as you said. also that was literally the first clip and objectively it’s hard to tell. all these new modes you mentioned are purely thanks to processing power yet the sensor is exactly the same just taller. The dynamic range, low light performance has not improved because the camera sensor is the same.
GoPro's "impressive" image quality and features may be "better" than DJI's Osmo Action, but all that goes down the drain because of reliability issues GoPros are famous for. What good is an action camera that freezes and overheats at precisely the moment you need it to perform?

3:23 still not sure about the dynamic range but it does seem less prone to noise. However that’s not really a problem for me as I fly with a fixed iso of 400 or less to avoid noise. The nd filters do seem like a bit of a shame given how much we need to use them. That mounting versatility is great compared to the hero 10 and earlier but I think I’d still prefer the 11’s 8x7 aspect ratio so I would only have to get the shot once for both horizontal and vertical clips. Also I disagree that the image quality is “better” I really love shooting in GoPro’s 5k as it allows me to get really good stabilisation in gyroflow while staying at/above 4K quality. But now I’m interested to see GoPros response to this! Hero 12 is going to be great.
could have definitely lifted the shadows there but it’s a stylistic choice there haha. if it gets dark you can’t just leave your iso from 100-400 😅 also you can screw off the lens so i’m sure someone can make nd filters that screw on and they won’t come off during flights only if you crash hard. personally i don’t even shoot 5.3k anymore because no one can tell either on youtube or instagram. i may be fairly defensive but it’s only because the only thing the gopro has on this camera is a taller sensor haha
