I gotta say, if someone could do what ethan did here but intentionally they would be by far the best interviewer in the world. He moved the conversation to these points of contention and instead of making the guest feel challenged he made them feel comfortable and accepted and had them just blurt out information thats easily and provably false, which he gently demonstrated.
Like I say, its clear this was ethan just messing up his presskit spectacularly having the exact opposite effect he wanted, but if someone could master this form of interview they'd be unstoppable. This is almost like what Sacha Baren Cohen does, but of course without the humour

That's not really an argument as it is a form of dismissal. You can't compare the suffering of a refugee to that of first world citizen, they both suffer. The brain is all about adaptation, it doesn't make any sense to discredit someone's suffering based on their status of wealth as suffering is a neurological & mental process which doesn't care about your artificial standing in the world. Yeah, i have been listenning to the podcast since it started, and i am bothered by how irresponsible Ethan has been with his political engagement the last year or so. Him teaming up with Hassan certainly did not help. I do still listen to the podcast but i really hope that he either avoids politics or starts interacting with it responsibly soon. That may just be copium though.
What really surprises me is how nobody on the crew gives him pointers about this stuff either, it surprises me that Dan did not call some things about Keffels out for excample, at least after the interview. The thing I find so disturbing about Keffals is that she is the exact type of trans person that she not be afforded any charity or sympathy because not only does she revel and enjoy her victimhood as though it's the only thing the gives her validation, but she's also a vindictive and spiteful person who will readily weaponize her victimhood to bully other people.
It's very easy to appear sympathetic when you're the victim of bullying or harassment or violence, but she can't even manage to do that right. She comes across as someone loves to talk about her harassment as though it defines her and then proceeds to seek out harassment. People don't hate you because you're trans, they hate you because you're a terrible human being and an asshole.
There is something extra disturbing about people who are willing to use their victimhood to bully others. Keffals is the kind of person to go about her business abusing the politeness of strangers and hoping that someone does something or says something with any slight hint of disapproval of trans people so that she can attack that person with full force of her victimhood and act all high and mighty.
People like this have no accomplishments. They provide nothing of value to society. And they have nothing of value to say. People like this live entirely on the premise that their validation comes from other people's sympathy and their ability to bully others. I hate that we as a society are giving free cover to bullies just because they're some form of a minority group. People like this make their community look bad.

As someone who’s pro trans, seeing so many within the trans community embrace keffals as some kind of hero really makes me worried about the direction the movement is heading. If the community shows that it’s willing to embrace lies and use such low tactics, normies are going to become more hostile to trans people or at the very least trust them less than they already do. This was one of the things that really freaked me out about this situation. There was someone who was caught out in a lie on twitter - one of keffle's followers - and called on it. Their response was 'it's justifiable because it hurts people who are transphobic'. That's not justifiable. Lying just to get the result you want is incredibly immature, if not straight-up socially destructive behavior.
I honestly think they just don’t know better. It’s not a problem specific to the trans community, I think. It’s just that most people go with the mainstream… remember Depp v. Heard? Everyone started accusing Amber of being the only abuser in the relationship, which is undeniably incorrect, they were both extremely toxic throughout their relationship. People just tend to not question the narrative that’s most common in their bubble. And that’s why it’s important that everyone takes up the chance to disagree with these things. Being a trans dude myself, I absolutely hate that some of the most popular activists are so disingenuous. I am not a genius on the subject or anything, but I have seen evidence of Keffals making sexual comments about minors. She also claimed to have ran the catboy ranch server at one point, and then backtracked on it.
Now, is it possible the screenshots were fake? Yeah, of course.
However, I do believe they are real personally. Why? For the exact reason Destiny points out in this video. She comes off as extremely dodgy when Ethan confronts her about it, and he's not even trying to push her hard on it. It's also such a HUGE contrast to how she sounded during the entire conversation until now. She has been talking with basically a grin on her face the entire time, but the moment the catboy ranch comes up, she sounds so... nervous? She looks away, lowers her head a little, and frantically shakes her head.
Idk maybe I am overanalyzing, but to me, that's not how an innocent person would reply. I think she is hiding something. And I think that might have something to do with why she egged on KF and tried so hard to take the site down. KFers are notorious for compiling evidence on people. They have helped getting people locked behind bars (look up Nick Bate for one. Or don't. The tale is incredibly disturbing.).
This is just my opinion, though. Anyone else should make up their own mind. So far, this is all just alleged. However, I understand and think there are valid reasons why people are suspicious of Keffals.
Honestly I'm at the point where I'm pretty impressed by her grift. I'm not surprised people eat her shit up since I expect literally anything is possible with humans, no matter how mind numbingly dumb or cosmically brilliant. However, with literally anything, there's always a certain level where no matter what you're doing it becomes impressive. Being an evil murderer is terrible, but Hitler did it on an impressive scale. Balancing on one leg is pretty mundane, but you show me someone who can balance on one leg for a week straight and I'll show you internet fame. A really good investigative technique is to hold back what you know when interviewing; the important part of the interview is the perspective of the interviewee, not just whatever is factually correct. You're not just trying to find out what the law is, you're trying to figure out how your interviewee understands it. So regardless of whether Ethan was doing it intentionally, asking questions about seemingly trivial information benefits the investigation more than jumping to the facts.
It's a common critique for H3's podcast that Ethan and crew don't do any homework for their shows. This episode certainly didn't help that narrative as the few hard questions did not come from him, but rather came from his subreddit, as Ethan admitted before he read off those questions.

Reminds me of college days playing Command and Conquer and StarCraft. With deeper puzzle/management systems and enemy defense mechanics which were a personal favorite part of those games. Now with better weapons and a much bigger map system. Also great to play listening to books and podcasts to kill time.

She has been nothing but bad faith and using things she has been afflicted by and attack other people. The push of convincing Ukrainians to bomb the hosting site is truly one of the most awful things.
I think papa gut does at times have great takes and valuable insight on things. I however do agree he was really wrong in that review. I think he needed to be pushed a bit more on the research thing. He was a bit to charitable with her and focused more on the hrt children aspect.
