The Vantage Vue weather station does a good job recording historical data. Here is how you access the historical rain data.

Will historical data be lost if the power goes out or the battery runs out and then the settings are reset from the beginning again?

This one has lost power entirely quite a few times. It does not seem to lose the historical data.
