This has happened to me more than once. Bear not showing any aggression, just using the trail to get from one point to another. I just got up off the trail and let it have the right of way until it passed. I have done the same for other animals, such as elk, bison and wolves.

why didn't you get off the trail like they tell you to?? "If a bear or other animal is moving in your direction on a trail, get out of its way and let it pass." www.nps.gov/glac/planyourvisit/bears.htm
The actual incident is not ideal, but the trip in general was one of the best I’ve ever had. I don’t travel a lot, but I would for sure go back and experience this park again I recommend it to everyone.
Always carry a massive sub sandwich that is loaded with a whole jar of peanut butter. Toss the huge sandwich to the bear and while it is busy with that mouth full of peanut butter, you just walk on. Lol
Always remember to wear bells on your clothes and carry pepper spray when hiking. Also, make sure you can distinguish black bear and grizzly bear droppings. Black bear droppings have nuts and berries in them. Grizzly bear shit has bells in it and smells like pepper spray.
I just learnt that bells can actually ATTRACT bears since they're curious. And pepper spray doesn't work, you need bear spray so you could be right. Meaning if you wanna live you only use bear spray.
John Williams Actually that is classic predator bear behavior. Unconcerned and advancing is what it will look like. A defensive bear will show signs of agitation and display threats, because it want you to back off. This was a very dangerous bear.
Mark Super Fly : You got it exactly right. That bear had selected his target. However, you can deflect his aggression, by hiking with a backpack full of small, yappy dogs which you strew in his path. Such toothsome treats provide all the stimulus a peckish bear enjoys, giving you a chance to escape. P.S.: cats don't work; they scatter too quickly.
*Bear laughs as he realizes those hand cannons already have limited range, that, coupled with the nervousness in your body which hinders your accuracy significantly, by the time he charges you you won’t even have time to draw.*
I carry a 45. long colt which is a far, far more powerful round (comparable ballistics, in +p, to some 44. mags) but I have no illusions about it's stopping power versus a grizzly. It would take a well aimed (in the midst of heart pounding panic) or very lucky shot to take it down without receiving a serious mauling in the process.
+Omar Corral Not really. I would trust bear spray more than my .45 to deter an attack. It's very possible to hit a bear directly in the heart and still take a mauling or get killed. I've seen many animals continue running a hundred yards or more with a bullet in the heart. Elk, for instance, are notorious for taking brutal punishment from very large rounds and still going. Besides, a heart or head shot that doesn't slam against the thick bone of the forehead isn't really easy to make while you're busy shitting yourself.
Judging from what I’ve read, it was good that you didn’t turn your back to it or run, but you’re supposed to give it an exit by stepping off the trail (if possible, and only ever on the downhill side so it wouldn’t feel threatened by you having higher ground while it’s passing you). And speaking to them in a low, calm voice wouldn’t have hurt either.
Never NEVER run from a bear. Bears can run more than 30 mph. Don’t climb a tree either because bears can do that too. Back up slowly, don’t make eye contact, wave your arms in the air to make yourself look bigger and make a ton of noise
Despite bears being able to run 35 mph or faster they can only run that fast for a couple of seconds so when it comes to running long distances humans can run longer than bears and other animals
Also scary is walking down a mountain in the dark and hearing a very large cracking in the trees and smaller things running. One of the scariest nights of my life.
Bringing a gun would be nearly pointless. Being bear spray, idiots day it doesn't work but its actually proven 90% effective compared to guns being way less. Plus you would need to be an expert at shooting and would need a rifle. But honestly as long as your careful its totally safe, people hardly ever die to bears unless they are total idiots,
@@cimarronMC wrong. my uncle is an Alaskan game warden. there's a reason he and all his colleges use shotgun slugs and not bear mace. you're spouting nonsense.

why didn't you get off the trail like they tell you to?? "If a bear or other animal is moving in your direction on a trail, get out of its way and let it pass." www.nps.gov/glac/planyourvisit/bears.htm
Wow, that was scary. I'm glad you guys are alright.
The bear is like...
I can't eat your food if you keep waking away.
First time I went to Glacier I had the same experience. Never really care to see or experience that again.
The actual incident is not ideal, but the trip in general was one of the best I’ve ever had. I don’t travel a lot, but I would for sure go back and experience this park again I recommend it to everyone.
I guess breathing like Darth Vader isn’t an effective bear dissuasion technique.
Come on man!!!! Lol
Bear advice maybe?
Black - fight back
Brown- lay down
White- good night
Well done guys. Some real courage displayed right there. Remained calm and did the right thing.
..........and the award for maintaining your bladder during a full release situation goes tooooooooooooo........this guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Grizzly bear shit has bells in it and smells like pepper spray.
why bells ?
@@abdousifelhak4486 the point is, grizzly bears don't give a rat's ass!!! They'll eat you, anyway!!!
People wear bells when they’re hiking in bear country to warn bears of their presence so they don’t surprise the bear.
I worked in Glacier two summers...bar bells are annoying...disturb the quiet beauty of nature...and DON'T WORK....
I just learnt that bells can actually ATTRACT bears since they're curious. And pepper spray doesn't work, you need bear spray so you could be right. Meaning if you wanna live you only use bear spray.
Beartube: Scary human encounter at Glacier National Park
He said "don't run guys", as he runs.
🤣🤣 it was a tactical plan
You were lucky he was not hungry or in a bad mood 😆
Thank God for huckleberry season
Uploaded from heaven.
his breathing told the entire frightening encounter..glad he and his group are alright.
It’s all good. 😢
This bear was acting aggressively since it clearly saw you guys yet kept coming. You are lucky not being eaten.
*****
Funny, that was exactly what Timothy Treadwell said!
John Williams Actually that is classic predator bear behavior. Unconcerned and advancing is what it will look like. A defensive bear will show signs of agitation and display threats, because it want you to back off. This was a very dangerous bear.
Mark Super Fly Grizzly was like "I said, GIVE ME THE F&@KING CANDY BAR!"
Bumble Bunny Or... you could always use bear spray.
They appear to be giggling and laughing with a grizzly bear that looks like he's hungry. !
Bear "You made a big mistake coming here, pal"
Me: *laughs in 454 Casull*
*Bear laughs as he realizes those hand cannons already have limited range, that, coupled with the nervousness in your body which hinders your accuracy significantly, by the time he charges you you won’t even have time to draw.*
They bear-ly made it out of there..
The # 1 rule when being chased by a grizzly is…
keep the camera steady!
I know sorry about that. I tried my best, but I still have to provide from my family. I had to keep that in the back of my mind.
I’m sure glad you’re still here & able to be with your family!! Thanks for posting your encounter!! You made it out alive~ you did good!!
@@ib4ugod45-1lol me too …. Thanks.
The bear just wanted to use the phone to make a call.
glad all ended well. always hike with others and with spray when in bear country.
10mm gun?....thats a socket size dood...lol, wow
a 10mm bullket would barely kill a small squirrel...lol..holy thats hillarious
could hit it over the head with a 10mm wrench and be more damage
I carry a 45. long colt which is a far, far more powerful round (comparable ballistics, in +p, to some 44. mags) but I have no illusions about it's stopping power versus a grizzly. It would take a well aimed (in the midst of heart pounding panic) or very lucky shot to take it down without receiving a serious mauling in the process.
B.C. Fish N Game I really hope your trolling :) hot, 220 grain hard cast bullets at 1250 fps in a semi automatic is decent bear repellent
怖っ…この状況でよく動画撮れたなぁ……
The last twenty seconds turned into the Bear Witch Project... Spotty camera work
Bear Witch!!!! Come on man!!!!!
I couldn’t remember that movie I was trying to think of it but yeah, pretty much like that lol
Dude, this is the most dangerous video of a bear encounter I've seen. 😳😳😳
Same here.
Look around there's worse. Just saw a guy shoot one with a shotgun, it tumbled then continued after the guy.
"Dont run dont run"
Starts running
Judging from what I’ve read, it was good that you didn’t turn your back to it or run, but you’re supposed to give it an exit by stepping off the trail (if possible, and only ever on the downhill side so it wouldn’t feel threatened by you having higher ground while it’s passing you). And speaking to them in a low, calm voice wouldn’t have hurt either.
This isn't star wars. Higher or lower ground doesn't matter for a bear.
Outlaw Josey would say
“have the Sun always at your back” & don’t forget the 10mm,
Bear: "Hey have you seen boo boo?"
Hikers: "yep and it just ruined our pants."
The last 30 seconds was the best
The dude is hyperventilating and the woman is giggling the whole time. She must know she’s a faster runner.
😂
0:50 every one for himself, thankyou athletics training!
Even if youre in a group you should never outrun a bear
Jaguar2002 or shoot it multiple times in the face
@User Name yeah bears are fast
It's like the Bear was trying to act cool by pretending to be another person walking in the woods, like you wouldn't notice it was a Bear.
"I'm gonna get some Kibbles N Bits, and bits and bits"
and bitts…lol
This was TIMOTHY TREADWELL- last moments.
“Does a bear $hit in the woods”?? Yes. And so do I when this happens!
bear : "oh hello sir, uhh.. i think i got lost, could you show me the way?"
I can’t even imagine the fear. I would never go hiking on a trail without a gun if running into a grizzly bear was a possibility.
Also scary is walking down a mountain in the dark and hearing a very large cracking in the trees and smaller things running. One of the scariest nights of my life.
@@AJ-sp7xd that’s insane! 😩 I’m guessing you didn’t wait around to see what it was 😂
Bringing a gun would be nearly pointless.
@@OtisMoto National park bears in lower 48 are NOT the same a Alaskan bush bears in terms of behavior.
You're spouting nonsense.
Yes, well done staying calm and steady breathing

Ora taerareru, kono yaro
Wow, that had to have been scary. Your hearts racing and hes just casually stalking you. Got a bunch of really funny comments, had a few laughs there. Great video, glad you made it.
Now thats reality TV
The bear just wanted a hug.
It looked to me like he wanted some dinner guests.
He was awesome. Wish I could’ve hugged him. I’d be afraid of all the ticks and stuff though yuck.
literally everyone: "never ever run from a bear"
me 0.01 seconds after encountering bear: "I am forrest gump"
Thanks for letting us know how it ends
Alive and well we befriended and adopted him.
We were able to get him on the plane back home with us.
(With a special permit) We had to enlarge the doggie door. Our other two dogs are a little jealous but we’re all getting along fine now except the price of his food is tremendous. we are now taking donations for food. we named him Barney.
The bear was chill he was like. Ima take my time.
When you realize that bear spray was a good idea as would have been paying attention to what to do during a bear encounter. Oh well, next time. If there is a next time?!
I just watched a cliff hanger.....soooo, what was the outcome? Me, I would have passed out from fear....and been an easy meal.
Sandy Cooper lol!
Always hike with someone slower than you while in bear country.
Bear - "honey you wont believe what i saw today..."
These people laughing at the end.. clearly you have know idea what a bear can do to a human
It was obviously a nervous laugh, because I never really had a situation like this before. My self-awareness was pretty much a nonexistent thought
Don’t go hiking without bear spray
That girl you’re hiking with is a keeper!
I honestly would have a conversation with a wild bear if it came up next to me. I don’t care if I’d live or die, at this point I’ve lived a long life.
yea but its the manner of your death thats gonna really suck if that bear starts to eat you alive .......................
