He made a show called Final Space which isn’t SUPER popular but has an extremely loyal fanbase because it honestly is a really good show. It got cancelled for any new seasons after season 3 for some legal reasons or something, so for about a year or two we just assumed we would never get to see the end of the series, until now i guess lol
I mean 10,500 copies of a *125$* book sold within the span of 24 hours posted on a random website with no advertisement is insanity. This pre-order has already generated over 1 million dollars. That ain't nothing chief.

I was part of season 2 production team. I gave a lot of love to the show and the show gave me a lot more back. I am very glad to hear Final Space can have proper ending. Your passion and dedication to your craft are infectious. Thank you for the inspiration Olan.
So many networks have such a terrible ethic of canceling shows before the story is finished this is such a blessing and I wish you all the luck to getting this finished smoothly.
In this case it was actualy an attack as well. This man refused to bend to the woke hollywood people that tryed to take over his show. Saying "no im writing my story" and they said "no you are done if you do not compliee" Then he was becouse corps win in the real world and you dont stand a chanch

Nah there have been much worse hands dealt in the animation industry, that he even got 3 seasons in spite of everything that happened during the show's run is itself a miracle.

Yeah times like this makes me WISH they could make a change to the tax write off system, since it seems like a way for companies to get rich quick. Like change it so tax write offs have an expiration date on them, similar to how copywrite can expire. Where after the time ends, the company that wrote it off loses the rights to claim it as a tax write off and it goes BACK to the creators for them to either right it off themselves, OR bring it back, sell if off, etc. Or a rule to allow the creator to buy it back, with the permission to raise funds for it through crowdfunding.
I was so mad when I learned I wasn’t going to see the ending of one of my favourite shows with some of my favourite characters like Gary and Ash. It may be a graphic novel but thank god the story has an ending

It won't. Unless CEO David Zaslav sees some permanent consequences, nothing's going to change, and right now, he's talking with Paramount's CEO about a potential merger, which I assume is to keep the companies from going bankrupt without having to change everything, which is the only way they're going to start seeing a profit again - something Zaslav doesn't seem interested in, preferring to write off finished projects and not pay people rather do anything to increase revenue. But hey, at least we're getting the end of Final Space whether they like it or not.

Now with 17k+ in preorders, my only concern is the timeline he projected. 400-500 pages comic pages in about 1.5 years is pretty aggressive for a comic book / graphic novel of that size. With the money though, he can probably pay multiple artists & even writers to work on it.

No matter the legal issues, there are people who are clearly doing things in good faith, while others are just looking for bank. And you can easily tell by the product they show. Final space, Dark and Darker for example being 2 ideas with heart from the producers but being squished by the big corporations who want to thwart them in bad faith, be it to see them fail or to remove a possible future competitor.

When Olan talks I feel like I can accomplish anything. This man is a natural leader. His cadence and timing keeps me so enthralled. You know what the difference between a great leader and a good leader is? A good leader makes you believe in their abilities, a great leader makes you believe in your abilities. I'm happy he is so happy but as a fan I really wanted a season 4 and I hate they refuse to let someone so passionate about his work do that or take it somewhere where they will. They held it hostage just because they didn't care to do anything else with it
Final Space is genuinely one of my FAVORITE "adult comedy" shows that exists out there. It's emotional, beautiful, and actually funny and seeing how you got restricted makes me feel horrible. But seeing how optimistic and excited you are gets me excited and makes me feel extremely happy for you.
Olan is really an inspiration for creators in the animation industry, he’s always honest, upfront and no matter what is happy with any outcome no matter what hand he is dealt, godspeed.

@Phillip Rosewood It's amazing really, because just getting the true authentic ending means us fans can do anything we want with it. Imagine a few months after it comes out people make fanmade videos using AI voices and such. Just getting the full story was the hardest part. Now that it's complete I'm sure the fanbase will keep it going.
I've been following the journey of Final Space since the pilot released... wow 8 years ago now. I remember waiting for it to be picked up by a studio, the struggle it had to go through to find a service to host it, the excitement of Netflix revealing it, the wait for each season, and feeling the heartache when the series suddenly ended without a proper conclusion. Seeing the graphic novel project, the amount of talent involved, and how dedicated you are to updating news on the progress every week, it really shows how passionate you are about your work. You didn't have to do any of this! Most other creators would have cut their losses and moved on to the next thing. Especially with how rocky the road was for FS from beginning to end. Which makes it all the more inspiring seeing it get the ending it needed. I look forward to the comic and what you have in-store next, Olan. Godspeed, Goodspeed.

My Jaw dropped when I saw this pop up in my recommended feed, I’ve never preordered a book faster than today but damn am I happy I did, hoping the previous seasons get a proper DVD drop. Final space is not a story to sleep on and I’m unbelievably happy with Olans determination and persistence to keep going 💜💜💜

I'm so happy! Final space really helped me through a rough patch. Gary's relentless optimism was so annoying at first,but i didn't want to stop listening to him for some reason;and it was because i didn't truly dislike him,he was really what i needed to hear at that moment. It may sound super corny but he's the first character i think it's a 'comfort' one,such a favorite of mine now TuT Idk i just felt i should leave some kind of comment about this,since i appreciate all the work that went into the making of one of my favorites series ^^ thank you so much
Final Space got me through one of the worst times in my life. This show means more to me than most people in my life could know. I went through some pretty intense therapy early last year and wanted to quit so many times from the anxiety, but watching final space got me through those times. Heck I even met my best friend out of a love for final space! Olan, I’m constantly using quotes from the show and I have tons of great memories with friends from all your old videos. Its was hard to say goodbye but this is a new hope. Got my copy but I am hoping it won't be the end. They have to see what it means to a lot of people. Each and every episode had it ups and way way downs. Best show on TV. A cartoon has never had as much meaning as this show. NEVER. I can't watch a single episode now with out breaking down. Even writing this semi acknowledgement of it's end is hard on me. Keeping my fingers crossed. I miss them so much even hearing ur voice, his voice is hard.

The price is a bit high for me, but i still have time to before it's released. Really can't believe it happened, but we couldn't just stop on a cliffhanger in season 3. Company Mergers. Literally this isn't the first animated show to be cancelled purely out of spite by the company's new ceo taking a look at the content and saying they no longer want it published despite the numbers approving for more, especially from an original series. Same exact thing happened to Infinity Train.
Honesty I had high hopes for this show, and it didn't meet them. It's fine, but it's not a masterpiece. I don't know if it is something that got lost in translation from his original pilot but all the energy I had to enjoy this after watching his pilot on his RUclips was drained as I watched the series.
I loved final space since the first episode, and the way that the show could go from serious to humorous had me the most, when I then discovered the story of how you made it become real made me fall in love even more with it al, you are an actual inspiration for me. Keep going man !!!!
I met one of the animators for Final Space last year. When I asked him if I would recognize any of his works, the first one he was excited to share was Final Space, he said it was some of the most fun he's had in years now that his hobby has turned into a job lol. He never got to meet you, but he really loved your story telling and he seemed really disappointed that it was over. He was the one that told me that it got cancelled in the first place... Everyone that I know that's been impacted by Final Space really felt the love and passion behind this project, and even though you got absolutely shafted, I certainly hope you are SO proud of yourself. @@doublej42 As someone who's currently making my own game, it can be cheaper if you have just a few talented people. It just takes longer, but you don't NEED to go through a publisher or hire a studio to make it for you, he has enough publicity to market it himself, and word of mouth will make it very profitable
@@MrMarshallMan3 also a game dev. It all depends on scope. Most of my games are code focused and cheap on art. Final space demands story so you have voice actors and likely animators. You can avoid these busy that moves the game closer to interactive comic.

My husband had put Final Space season one on for background noise originally, but we had started watching immediately and fell in love. We were absolutely devastated when we found out it got cancelled after the INCREDIBLE cliffhanger we were left on. So proud of you for not giving up on your dreams and to keep fighting for something SO many people love and adore. It is literally my favorite show of all time, and I hope one day this graphic novel will lead to a bad ass film or final season for all of its hard-core devoted fans. Keep up the great work, man.

Its that the creator is so dedicated to the story that is refreshing. Most shows just feel like an excuse for a corporation to push an agenda. Oh my crap! I found this because I happened by chance to click on Godspeed (and get absolutely blown away). And I can’t believe this is going to happen! I love Final Space. I watched every episode and showed them to everyone that would sit still long enough. So, to get this ending is just. . .I don’t have words. The graphic novel is a Christmas present to myself that I’m happy to patiently wait for. Thanks Olan Rogers for not giving up and for making this happen. Agreed my only gripe is that the characters didn't cuss as much as they should because you have them say "Let's kick their butt" after saying dick and other shit so it kind of ruins the mood you know? It isn't a big complaint but still a complaint non the less.

Its also forever, which is not the case with the orginal 3 seasons of final space that have been taken away because of nonsensical bs. I already purchased the pre-order and I will support him anyway I can, because that's what being a fan is about not the AI bs that is taking over.

This reminds me of Stan Lee's Keynote at the UCLA graduation, when he's talking about writing Spider-Man for the first time ever. If it's something you have pride in, something you enjoy, something you want to write, don't ever let some idiot try to talk you out of it.
It's rare I'm willing to put so much down like that. Not even a graphic novel person, but how could I not show my appreciation to have a chance at a proper ending to the story and to give back for all the passion that Olan has displayed and lovingly shared with all of us over the years? I think you're going to need to shop for a warehouse at this rate too. Maybe even invest in some good shoes to go door to door hand delivering these beautiful works of art you're going to make.
Honestly I've pre-ordered everything olan produces. We need more pure hearted and inspired creators, this story isn't just about Gary and Mooncake, it's about a creator bringing his vision to an end and to me that's worth the money. Its more authentic than most things produced nowadays

Your words brought tears to my eyes. Final space is a story I really feel so much for. Watching this show from the beginning when I was 17 and struggling to keep my life together really kept me going with how we truly see everyone never give up even if when theres no hope. Each character slowly started to feel like parts of myself that I recognized were hurting and needed help. Now im 24 and by no means have I figured life out but I know that chasing your dreams is always going to drive you crazy but its never going to drag you down. I cant wait to see where this story ends💜 Final chapter💯

When I first saw Final Space I thought it was just another cheap-ass adult animation, but then I actually sat down and watched the show and immediately fell in love with it. The story, characters, animation, voice actors, music were all just top tier quality content. Then I looked into you, Olan and found out that you started on RUclips and thought that it was just incredible to see how far you had come. Hearing that Final Space was shelved crushed me as I imagine it did for you and many others, so to hear about this finale and your enthusiasm for it really warms my heart. I'll have to save up first but please keep a pre-order copy to send to Melbourne, Australia :) Thank you for everything, don't rush it, do it right, I'll happily wait til then :)

While the original trailers really peaked my interest, I was hesitant to start watching Final Space because I was worried it was going to get the same treatment as every other animated streaming platform show I've fallen in love with--unfairly axed before it could reach its conclusion. After finally caving, binging the whole show up to season 3 and falling in love with it, I was *livid* finding out that my initial fears were right. So I am SO happy to hear that it not only will get a conclusion, but that the conclusion will be in one of my other favorite story-telling mediums. All the power to you, creative-man. I'm excited to see how the story ends~
I’ve been a huge fan of Final Space since the very beginning and was heartbroken when the news hit that we weren’t getting another season. But this is just as good and I am so excited to see what you come up with. Just do your best and if that isn’t good enough well it’s good enough for me!

When Avocato spiralled to his death, it hit deep as a parent sacrificing for their child. Gary’s relentless pursuit of Quinn, was the love we all deserve and difficulties we endure to get it. Just scratching the surface, I’m certain everyone will love the graphic novel.

Final Space is an experience near and dear to me, but never have I looked into it's creator, until today. I can now understand why Final Space turned out as great as it did. The fire in your eyes, the smile on your face when you speak about your creation, and the dedication in your voice... I wish you the best in life, as a whole, not only with your work. As you think about it, in 3 days, 14500 people ordered a graphic novel for more than 100USD. 1.5 Million turnover with a graphic novel. In 3 days. I hope this shows the potential this show has and this may be a wake up call for the higher-ups at WB.
We gotta light a fire under WB by making this an overwhelming success, the kinda success that would make them STUPID to turn down creating an animated version of this. As much as I love the idea of a graphic novel, and the fact that it most likely means that Olan can have his vision for the end with little to no executive meddling in the story, these are some big caveats, and 10k, it's not enough for everyone. I hope that if these all sell out, there can be more. Good luck getting this out though.
I somehow feel like the caveats of the deal have to do with WBs tax deal. Otherwise, they make little sense. Especially the part about not using Kickstarter.
I applaud this man's passion to finish his story even though this wouldn't be how he originally pictured doing it. Hopefully all this buzz and the numbers will convince someone to actually give him a chance to animate the finale too.
I remember watching the final space pilot years ago. Believe it or not that show helped me through a tough period of my life. I wanted to thank you Olan for the memories, the laughs, the tears that you provided me with Final Space, your RUclips channel, your shorts, vines, sketches. It meant a lot to me, final space means a lot me. When one door closes, another one opens, and while final space may end with this graphic novel, it’ll live on in the minds and hearts of us fans, and the talented people who’ve made it a reality. ❤

He made a show called Final Space which isn’t SUPER popular but has an extremely loyal fanbase because it honestly is a really good show. It got cancelled for any new seasons after season 3 for some legal reasons or something, so for about a year or two we just assumed we would never get to see the end of the series, until now i guess lol
It was victim of the TBS network being sold.
I mean 10,500 copies of a *125$* book sold within the span of 24 hours posted on a random website with no advertisement is insanity. This pre-order has already generated over 1 million dollars. That ain't nothing chief.

Yeah times like this makes me WISH they could make a change to the tax write off system, since it seems like a way for companies to get rich quick.
Like change it so tax write offs have an expiration date on them, similar to how copywrite can expire. Where after the time ends, the company that wrote it off loses the rights to claim it as a tax write off and it goes BACK to the creators for them to either right it off themselves, OR bring it back, sell if off, etc.
Or a rule to allow the creator to buy it back, with the permission to raise funds for it through crowdfunding.

Unless CEO David Zaslav sees some permanent consequences, nothing's going to change, and right now, he's talking with Paramount's CEO about a potential merger, which I assume is to keep the companies from going bankrupt without having to change everything, which is the only way they're going to start seeing a profit again - something Zaslav doesn't seem interested in, preferring to write off finished projects and not pay people rather do anything to increase revenue. But hey, at least we're getting the end of Final Space whether they like it or not.

Now with 17k+ in preorders, my only concern is the timeline he projected. 400-500 pages comic pages in about 1.5 years is pretty aggressive for a comic book / graphic novel of that size. With the money though, he can probably pay multiple artists & even writers to work on it.

@@Mauricio_Castaño Sadly I’m unaware of the situation, but I have always been on the side of people who have heart and the desire to make art. No matter the legal issues, there are people who are clearly doing things in good faith, while others are just looking for bank.
And you can easily tell by the product they show. Final space, Dark and Darker for example being 2 ideas with heart from the producers but being squished by the big corporations who want to thwart them in bad faith, be it to see them fail or to remove a possible future competitor.

Final Space is genuinely one of my FAVORITE "adult comedy" shows that exists out there. It's emotional, beautiful, and actually funny and seeing how you got restricted makes me feel horrible. But seeing how optimistic and excited you are gets me excited and makes me feel extremely happy for you.

I've been following the journey of Final Space since the pilot released... wow 8 years ago now. I remember waiting for it to be picked up by a studio, the struggle it had to go through to find a service to host it, the excitement of Netflix revealing it, the wait for each season, and feeling the heartache when the series suddenly ended without a proper conclusion. Seeing the graphic novel project, the amount of talent involved, and how dedicated you are to updating news on the progress every week, it really shows how passionate you are about your work. You didn't have to do any of this! Most other creators would have cut their losses and moved on to the next thing. Especially with how rocky the road was for FS from beginning to end. Which makes it all the more inspiring seeing it get the ending it needed. I look forward to the comic and what you have in-store next, Olan. Godspeed, Goodspeed.

I'm so happy! Final space really helped me through a rough patch. Gary's relentless optimism was so annoying at first,but i didn't want to stop listening to him for some reason;and it was because i didn't truly dislike him,he was really what i needed to hear at that moment. It may sound super corny but he's the first character i think it's a 'comfort' one,such a favorite of mine now TuT

I went through some pretty intense therapy early last year and wanted to quit so many times from the anxiety, but watching final space got me through those times. Heck I even met my best friend out of a love for final space! Olan, I’m constantly using quotes from the show and I have tons of great memories with friends from all your old videos. Company Mergers. Literally this isn't the first animated show to be cancelled purely out of spite by the company's new ceo taking a look at the content and saying they no longer want it published despite the numbers approving for more, especially from an original series. Same exact thing happened to Infinity Train.
Honesty I had high hopes for this show, and it didn't meet them. It's fine, but it's not a masterpiece. I don't know if it is something that got lost in translation from his original pilot but all the energy I had to enjoy this after watching his pilot on his RUclips was drained as I watched the series.

I met one of the animators for Final Space last year. When I asked him if I would recognize any of his works, the first one he was excited to share was Final Space, he said it was some of the most fun he's had in years now that his hobby has turned into a job lol. He never got to meet you, but he really loved your story telling and he seemed really disappointed that it was over. He was the one that told me that it got cancelled in the first place... Everyone that I know that's been impacted by Final Space really felt the love and passion behind this project, and even though you got absolutely shafted, I certainly hope you are SO proud of yourself. Games are extremely expensive to make vs animation. Basically you need to animate every possibility.
@@doublej42 As someone who's currently making my own game, it can be cheaper if you have just a few talented people. It just takes longer, but you don't NEED to go through a publisher or hire a studio to make it for you, he has enough publicity to market it himself, and word of mouth will make it very profitable

My husband had put Final Space season one on for background noise originally, but we had started watching immediately and fell in love. We were absolutely devastated when we found out it got cancelled after the INCREDIBLE cliffhanger we were left on. So proud of you for not giving up on your dreams and to keep fighting for something SO many people love and adore. It is literally my favorite show of all time, and I hope one day this graphic novel will lead to a bad ass film or final season for all of its hard-core devoted fans. Keep up the great work, man.

@@selpharessecret3899 its not so much that it resonated with someone that im surprised. Moments of the show were definitely emotionally impactful with generally good humor throughout. Its that the creator is so dedicated to the story that is refreshing. Most shows just feel like an excuse for a corporation to push an agenda. After watching this video im convinced this is not the case with Final Space

Oh my crap! I found this because I happened by chance to click on Godspeed (and get absolutely blown away). And I can’t believe this is going to happen! I love Final Space. I watched every episode and showed them to everyone that would sit still long enough. So, to get this ending is just. . .I don’t have words. The graphic novel is a Christmas present to myself that I’m happy to patiently wait for. Thanks Olan Rogers for not giving up and for making this happen. You’re an inspiration to creatives everywhere to never give up and to be brave enough to fail. I can’t wait to lightfold one more time.

Agreed my only gripe is that the characters didn't cuss as much as they should because you have them say "Let's kick their butt" after saying dick and other shit so it kind of ruins the mood you know? It isn't a big complaint but still a complaint non the less.

Its also forever, which is not the case with the orginal 3 seasons of final space that have been taken away because of nonsensical bs. I already purchased the pre-order and I will support him anyway I can, because that's what being a fan is about not the AI bs that is taking over.
Damn, man. You had ME crying by the end. I'm super pumped to see this happening! We're all happy for you! Outstanding talent like yours deserves a spotlight, to be able to let their creation shine. This reminds me of Stan Lee's Keynote at the UCLA graduation, when he's talking about writing Spider-Man for the first time ever. If it's something you have pride in, something you enjoy, something you want to write, don't ever let some idiot try to talk you out of it.
It's rare I'm willing to put so much down like that. Not even a graphic novel person, but how could I not show my appreciation to have a chance at a proper ending to the story and to give back for all the passion that Olan has displayed and lovingly shared with all of us over the years? I think you're going to need to shop for a warehouse at this rate too. Maybe even invest in some good shoes to go door to door hand delivering these beautiful works of art you're going to make.
Honestly I've pre-ordered everything olan produces. We need more pure hearted and inspired creators, this story isn't just about Gary and Mooncake, it's about a creator bringing his vision to an end and to me that's worth the money. Its more authentic than most things produced nowadays
I've spent hundreds of dollars on Final Space merch because I love this show so much, I just can't help myself. 😅 So I definitely made sure to buy my copy before it sells out. There are currently *29 copies left* when I just went to check!!!
Your words brought tears to my eyes. Final space is a story I really feel so much for. Watching this show from the beginning when I was 17 and struggling to keep my life together really kept me going with how we truly see everyone never give up even if when theres no hope. Each character slowly started to feel like parts of myself that I recognized were hurting and needed help. Now im 24 and by no means have I figured life out but I know that chasing your dreams is always going to drive you crazy but its never going to drag you down.

When I first saw Final Space I thought it was just another cheap-ass adult animation, but then I actually sat down and watched the show and immediately fell in love with it. The story, characters, animation, voice actors, music were all just top tier quality content. Then I looked into you, Olan and found out that you started on RUclips and thought that it was just incredible to see how far you had come. Hearing that Final Space was shelved crushed me as I imagine it did for you and many others, so to hear about this finale and your enthusiasm for it really warms my heart. I'll have to save up first but please keep a pre-order copy to send to Melbourne, Australia :) Thank you for everything, don't rush it, do it right, I'll happily wait til then :)
I wasn't a big fan of Final Space, but good lord this had me crying. What an insane road you have to go through. Your determination and hope is out of this world, man. I wish you nothing but success!

While the original trailers really peaked my interest, I was hesitant to start watching Final Space because I was worried it was going to get the same treatment as every other animated streaming platform show I've fallen in love with--unfairly axed before it could reach its conclusion. After finally caving, binging the whole show up to season 3 and falling in love with it, I was *livid* finding out that my initial fears were right. So I am SO happy to hear that it not only will get a conclusion, but that the conclusion will be in one of my other favorite story-telling mediums.

I’ve been a huge fan of Final Space since the very beginning and was heartbroken when the news hit that we weren’t getting another season. But this is just as good and I am so excited to see what you come up with. Just do your best and if that isn’t good enough well it’s good enough for me!

When Avocato spiralled to his death, it hit deep as a parent sacrificing for their child. Gary’s relentless pursuit of Quinn, was the love we all deserve and difficulties we endure to get it. Just scratching the surface, I’m certain everyone will love the graphic novel.

This is by far my FAVORITE show!! it's beautiful, brilliant, funny, elegant, deep!! I couldn't believe there wasn't going to be another season to at least finish it! I'm so glad you are doing this, though i will never understand why the cancelled the show or give you the option to finish it in animated form. I will be waiting for the graphic novel! i love everything about it!!! you are amazing for doing this on your own and for making us all so happy

Final Space is an experience near and dear to me, but never have I looked into it's creator, until today. I can now understand why Final Space turned out as great as it did. The fire in your eyes, the smile on your face when you speak about your creation, and the dedication in your voice... I wish you the best in life, as a whole, not only with your work. We gotta light a fire under WB by making this an overwhelming success, the kinda success that would make them STUPID to turn down creating an animated version of this. As much as I love the idea of a graphic novel, and the fact that it most likely means that Olan can have his vision for the end with little to no executive meddling in the story, these are some big caveats, and 10k, it's not enough for everyone. I hope that if these all sell out, there can be more. Good luck getting this out though.
I somehow feel like the caveats of the deal have to do with WBs tax deal. Otherwise, they make little sense. Especially the part about not using Kickstarter.
I applaud this man's passion to finish his story even though this wouldn't be how he originally pictured doing it. Hopefully all this buzz and the numbers will convince someone to actually give him a chance to animate the finale too.
I remember watching the final space pilot years ago. Believe it or not that show helped me through a tough period of my life. I wanted to thank you Olan for the memories, the laughs, the tears that you provided me with Final Space, your RUclips channel, your shorts, vines, sketches. It meant a lot to me, final space means a lot me. When one door closes, another one opens, and while final space may end with this graphic novel, it’ll live on in the minds and hearts of us fans, and the talented people who’ve made it a reality. ❤
