Dude, OGD and EW BIB. Other bottom shelf bangers to me is Benchmark, Great STUFF!!! Hands down ... BTW, just got my samples from the Leipers Fork with the JD 10 and 12... I am from Tennessee and been both places but never had the JD 12.... THANK YOU... LF is a really good pour!
200 bottles is wild! I had a collection of about 50-45 bottles at its max and I felt overwhelmed. I drank it all and gave a lot of bottles away to friends. Now it’s down to 5-2 bottles at a time. Oh, and my budget banger right now is Old Forester 100 rye. $26 for 1L in my area.
A bottle I tended to skip because I tasted the EW black label first. Glad I finally gave it a shot because it's a great daily sipper. And 20 bucks for a 750 and 32 for a 1.75 you just can't beat it!
We record multiple episodes in one day, so when there is a guest in multiple episodes I sometimes forget that the introduction I have in my head was before this video started.
Great video. In my cabinet are J.W. Dant, JTS Brown, Old Overholt 114, OGD 114, Benchmark BiB, Rebel 100 Rye, Ezra Brooks 99, and Maker’s Mark. Cheers, y’all 🥃
I think I may like EW BiB even more than I like Wild Turkey 101 or Old Forester 100. 🥃 10:03 For me, peanut shells on the nose is the Heaven Hill signature. 🥜
It’s pretty crazy to hate on a sub $20 bottle of whiskey. Honesty, there are people that have little or no money for things like bourbon so good on whiskey tube to give some decent options for them.
The Galt House is a great hotel. One Step Down bourbon bar is cool. Silk Jockeys is nice too. I stayed there for 4 days in 2023. Walked to Old Forester and Drove to Rabbit Hole and Angel's Envy. I was at a BCCA CANvention or I would have hit a few more distilleries. 🥃
This one has just never been for my palate. In the EW line I much prefer 1783 for just a few dollars more. In the cheap line up I much prefer any of the Benchmarks, Early Times, OGD 100, or WT.
I ignored EW BIB for years and then I finally bought a bottle last year and in my market it was around $25. I wish I would have continued to ignore it as I consider it one of my worst bourbon purchases ever. There is a nastiness that I can’t get past. I was going to drain pour it but I was lucky enough to trade it to a friend. I prefer EW 1783 over EW BIB and I think it smokes by leaps and bounds.
This is a psychosomatic response. If you know how these two whiskeys are created you would know it isn't possible for one to be disgusting and the other to be great. We also discourage comments trashing these cheap bourbons in the video. You may want to check out the content. You might like the videos.
@ first off I did check out the video from start to finish just like I always do before making a comment. Second just because a two whiskies come from the same place or even made the same way doesn’t mean they are going to be equal in taste.
@@1095TA I didn't say equal in taste. I said it is not possible that one is really bad and one is really bad. The difference would be nearly indistinguishable even to the most sophisticated palate.
@@BourbonRealTalk well we are just going to have to agree to disagree. I stand by statements and nothing will change that and I know you will stand by yours and that’s fine by me.
Hot take: Evan Williams Bottled-in-Bond is trash. I don’t understand why people keep hyping this as the ultimate bottom-shelf banger. Sure, it’s cheap, but that doesn’t mean it’s good. If you’re looking for a real gem that punches above its price point, look no further than Old Grand-Dad 114. Bold, flavorful, and unapologetic, it’s hands down the real king of bottom-shelf bourbon. Stop settling for mediocrity when there’s greatness sitting on the same shelf. #OldGrandDad114 #BottomShelfRoyalty #BourbonDoneRight
I haven’t tuned in for a while. Glad to see Wes back in the fold and having a pour. Cheers… 🥃

I agree! Benchmark has a fantastic amount of options in the low dollar amount.
Glad you're enjoying the Leipers Fork samples!

I forget how many Sammy has. I want to say it is something like 1,800. I am at around 800.
@@BourbonRealTalk that’s a lot of bottles! At least you are generous with your collection.
@@dee13lee My collection is like a free public library...but whiskey.
I had Evan Williams BIB very early on in my whiskey journey and was not a big fan. I am gonna have to get me another bottle and give it another go!
I really like it. 🙂
That Cowboys cap! Represent!! 🔥🔥🔥
He used to wear a Yankees cap often. 🤔
I think this will be going in my next blind!

One of my favorite "everyday" pours is half EW BIB and half EW 1783. Try it I promise its good. Neat or blocked.
Thanks for introducing Sammy, who was on recently but not identified. Great to start off introducing and welcoming a guest.

@BourbonRealTalk Makes sense.
I ALWAYS have EW B&B, it’s my go to for Old Fashioned which I normally have almost on a daily basis, also once in a while, I like a bourbon and Coke.
Ya'll talkin, Sammy sippin !
I always have a handle of EW BiB on hand.

Reminded me of that BIB. Need to have a pour tonight.
No secret there! The first bourbon I loved!

I always have EW BIB in my decanter! Always tough to pass up when I want a poor.
EW 1783 is a little bit better sipper imo than BIB but both are great for the price. Will always keep them in the lineup along with OGD BIB and 114.

We go through a shameful amount of Evan Williams BIB, in a good way.
❤
Cheers!

EW BiB is good. So is OGD 114. They're different, but I like 'em both.
We kind of make fun of this type of comment in this video. You should watch the video...you might like the content.
To each his own. Compared to other $12 bottles, it's fine. But I dont find it a decent drinker at all. Tastes like dry dusty corn.
I beg yer pardon???
Evan Williams BiB is not bottom shelf, Dudes !
