  • It is important for your dog to have a solid stop command set up, as it is used a lot while hunting.
In this video, Paul shows us how he trains the stop command.

Speaking as a long-time qualified, professional trainer myself - this guy is obviously an EXPERIENCED PRACTICAL trainer too. Nice to see some real training instead of all the lame treat-for-trick happy-clappy rubbish. Thanks Paul.

This is definitely the most straightforward yet informative dog training video out there. Thanks so much for uploading. I have a 2 year old Catahoula and we've nailed this training video to a T. Application of pressure & praise just makes too much sense. She's eager to learn more. Thanks a ton. FYI I've waited about 6 months before commenting. It's amazing being able to have a dog sit on a dime even from 50 feet away just from me hissing at her!

I learned more valid methods here in 14 minutes than on all of the other training videos I've watched combined. Excellent job.

This is great, BUT so many training videos are made with a dog that already knows the commands perfectly. It would be really helpful to see him actually train a dog that doesn't have it down.

Wow picked up some great tips. I have a teenage puppy who is on the verge of 'out of control' I'm working hard to bring him up well. Fantastic video

I watched this and thought I'd give it a try with our new rescue dog (a 15 month old Breton). Do you have any tips on how to start with the line? Much as I love the little sod, as soon as he gets a scent of something he's interested in, he's off like a rocket and even with a 20m long line, half the time he'll be pulled up short by the harness long before I could step on the line and tell him to stop...

What if when you reward/give praise, the dog self-releases? Do you have him get back into a sit?

What is "standing on the long one"? I don't understand what he's talking about. Hard to follow the instructions now ^^

Hey Paul. Love your videos just wondering what breed of dog Fly and Print are.

I love your videos and long leash methods, I'm planning to buy the course. I was wondering about when you pull Print from the dung. My pup loves smelling all kinds of dung, and rolling around it I think to collect the scent. I wouldn't roll in it myself, but I've just been letting him have his fun, and hosing him off later. Is it covered more in the course, or what's your thought on that?

Hi Andrew, Everything is gone over in great detail in the blueprint. Personally I would stop your dog rolling in the dung. Lots of techniques for that in the blueprint.

Hey mate, can you train your heading dogs to work stock, and indicate deer? Or would it bugger it up? Cheers

hi Paul one question I've been wanting to ask you. is how do you find the energy levels of a heading dog round home . slightly worried I won't have enough work for it. am following blueprint as well
    thanks

Hey mate. Heading dogs love to work, but they are also great pets. They don't need any more work/exercise than any other breed I've worked with. A lot of heading dogs need less work/exercise to remain balanced when compared to a lot of the popular BGID breeds in NZ. My heading dogs are fine sleeping in the kennel, or inside infant of the fire. They're great.
