Grandchildren are like kryptonite to grandparents. They are their achilles heel. The parents can be fully against a marriage but they almost never can be against grandchildren. Especially if they see them and hold them. Grandchildren are their pride and joy.
I can see why the parents love Andy so much. He’s so down to earth and he shows them that he embraces and loves Korean culture so much that the parents 1) don’t have language barrier to communicate w Andy, 2) feel relatable to whatever they do together 3) feel comfortable to communicate with their grandchildren 4) can express their concerns and find solutions together 5) feel at ease that their daughter found a great man who contributes greatly to build family bond between grandparents and parents. Asian grandparents love to live with their grandchildren and children. The family bond is made with a lot more interaction, meetings frequency, family activities, etc…. Andy is a great example of how foreigner spouse should be to have a happy marriage. Andy and his wife really a great couple together.
meh. every situation is different. as things are now, if i were to get married in the future i probably wouldn’t tell my dad until it came up. no ones place to judge him.
@@TaleiAK ahhh, sorry. a lot of the times the phrase “___ is one thing but ___ is another,” has a negative connotation. example being “drinking every once in a while is one thing, but drinking constantly is another.” i dunno if that makes sense. the phrasing just came off a bit judge-y.
my dad got married to my mom without telling his family. It wasnt like he didnt want to tell them but he was in a completely different country at the time and had no way of reaching them. As soon as he brought my mom back to the U.S. she was introduced immediately and has become apart of my dad's family besides the language barrier (not English, Spanish)

I guess the norm would be to tell your parents; but there are some households that are chill and don’t need permission from parents just to get married. Everyone’s different
When your media controls all the shit you see and hear from other countries. Majority are going to stay naive to what really goes on. Traveling is essential y'all, fr.
I think not telling the parents beforehand is okay. He is an adult and he can decide it on his own. I like that he has a backbone and is not depending his decision on anyone. He loves his wife so much, that, I am so sure of.
I watch so many videos about these interracial couples in Korea and I just realized that we don’t have that kind of culture in America. It’s nothing special to see an interracial couple here 😂
There is no judgement on the man, just my thoughts. If I had a child and he or she didn't tell me that they were planning to marry, I would be upset. I don''t need to give permission but knowing that my child is getting married is really important. It is like sharing your feelings with someone who is really important for you..
I didn’t ask permission to my parents but just said ill marry her and they just asked me when🤣. But what’s more important was talking to the wife’s parents specially to the father because i’m taking his daughter away from him.
He shouldn’t be making the tv joke about Africa on international tv..people like him are the reason some people outside Africa misunderstand and think it’s true..nkt..I come from Africa and we have everything that countries abroad have 😒😂😂😂
I think he made that joke just to point out the absurdity of their statements. That being said the joke completely went over their heads since they do not understand anything about Africa or the culture. I don’t think he had any ill intentions, and coming from Africa he probably heard alot of insensitive and rude comments too. But I can see why people may think its inappropriate and unnecessary to joke like that.
Asians ignore lots of history from other regions, they only focus on what they learn at school, unless they travel abroad and meet foreigners. Every human has African genes because first humans come from there, they just dont think environment and climate made different races to adapt different lands. As a Mexican, Mayans explain different kinds of humans and that we are from corn because there are different kind and colors and even though they didnt meet other races until Spain invaded their land, they knew there were other races in the world. Also Asians think lots of countries are the stereotypes of what they have watched on tv or cartoons. In my case, they thought we lived in desserts and had traditional clothing and no technology, many asked me where in the map was my country and I just told them “under United States” hahaha
It's so sad how everybody only knows things about people based off of stereotypes. That woman asked on they own TV's in Africa. Not in South Africa, not in villages, but in Africa as a whole. That's so disrespectful and disturbing, but i know it's just a lack of common sense and knowledge.

It's not about permission, it's about sharing a special moment of your life with your parents, your family.
