The tangle wire would have disabled Malcolm more funnily enough.
You guys are straight up the biggest inspiration I've ever had to learn more about CEDH. And MAGDA?! I've been wanting to build around her so bad and seeing your deck pop off has my brain going sicko mode bro. Cannot wait! I'm slowly but surely building my collection of cedh goodie cards!

Love seeing the classic that is bogardan hellkite becoming a thing. I watched the 06 world championship game many times when he was the key factor with my favorite card Dragonstorm.
Fellow Cameron here. Magda has been one of my favorite decks for a couple years now. She just keeps getting new toys. 👍 But yeah Dylan couldn't have stopped it with Deflecting Swat. Went through all the different scenarios in my head lol. Cameron would still be able to make a treasure off Mimic and be able to make another with Magda so it doesn't really matter how Cameron tapped his artifacts. And it doesn't matter if the swat targeted another opponent's artifact.
in response to the first treasure trigger, swat to dylan's crypt? in order to continue loops after (or in response to) interaction, the magda player needs 3 additional untapped artifacts, 2 to untap dwarf artifact, 1 to continue the loop. at 9:29 , you can swat and cam would only have 2 artifacts, which would kill the loop
As a PSA to everyone when the Active player has multiple triggered abilities hit the stack at the same time they choose how they go on the stack. This means Cam can stack the ETB of the Hellkite and the Cloudstone so its back in his hand before the 5 damage happens meaning it would just fizzle as it's target is no longer on board. Hopefully everyone sees this.
As I wrote in another comment: With Cloudstone Curio YOU CAN NOT target the creature that coused the trigger as it says "another permanent". So when Bogardan enters the battlefield it triggers itself's ETB and curio's. Those two have to go on the stack with the legal targets (ofc if you decide to trigger return anything with curio, and I guess in that situation it was Utwara to maintain the loop). And with both those triggers on the stack then Dylan had priority to cast deflecting swat and redirect bogardan's trigger to itself (and, I was wrong earlier, deflecting swat can redirect any amount of bogardan's targets of a single ability)
One issue with this is that they were shortcutting this interaction to speed it up. No one really wants to do this but it should have been done properly because if Cam stacked the triggers differently as a mistake, Dylan or anyone, can take advantage of that moment and use the deflecting swat to stop that interaction. And, as the other commenter pointed out, b. hellkite can't bounce itself back to hand. Unless Cam had another flash creature, it wouldn't matter how the triggers are stacked, the hellkite dies to its own damage. Hopefully everyone sees this.
Once Magda has infinite treasures and can tutor, there is nothing you can do. Anything you do, delays the inevitable and they just combo on-top of your interaction and kill you still
@@charlesmaillho367 While yes, the swat could redirect the damage, Cam had an ashnod's transmogorant in his deck. So if Dylan redirected the 5 damage, Cam could have just sac'd 5 more of his infinite treasures to get it and then put a +1/+1 counter on the dragon. As others have said, he could also have gotten the artifact changeling or maskwood nexus, then another artifact creature to do a similar effect.
Goddamn that Magda deck rebuilds so FAST. Well done Cam! Also Cloudstone Curio specifies nonartifact permanents so you can't use it to bounce the Academy Manufactor. It doesn't impact the line to win but worth pointing out since I've been burnt by that before mid-game.
Hi! Just a random finnish guy who is super obsessed playing Magda because of Cam. Its 4am and there still is no new Magda video conserning many upgrades from Outlaws of Thunder Junction. Even about the new MAGDA. Iam getting bit worried.. Thanks for everything guys, you are truly the best.
Bro Cam... That is a dope deck... I've never seen it played like that granted I'm not in the cEDH group so... but man... If i were to play cEDH that'd be my deck, it tickles my Johnny tendancies! Don't take it apart!
This is definitely my favorite cdh channel gonna go get some merch would love to play with these guys seems so fun and helpful but I can’t get that top tier but I’ll work on that after getting some decks honestly I just watch over and over 😂
If cam was hitting everyone for 5 with the dragon couldn't you have deflecting swatted the trigger of 5 damage back on the dragon killing it and stopping the burn loop?
He can stack the ETB of the Hellkite and the Cloudstone so its back in his hand before the 5 damage happens meaning it would just fizzle as it's target is no longer on board. when the Active player has multiple triggered abilities hit the stack at the same time they choose how they go on the stack. Now if he could have copied the ability sure cuz it would resolve first.
You can also divide the damage to do 4 to one target and 1 to another, then deflecting swat can't kill it (as you have to keep the same number of targets for the trigger)
10:16: does it matter that Cam shouldn't be able to bounce back Academy Manufacturer with Cloudstone Curio? Cloudstone curio days "nonaritfact". Would that have effected the outcome?
Me every time I see the flag behind Cameron: “JESUS PIECEEEEEEE” That being said I love seeing games with Krark and Magda and I think this pod was very balanced playstyle wise!
Deflecting SWAT re-directing the damage trigger from hell kite to deal 5 damage to itself would have stopped the entire damage combo unless he specifically broke the damage up when it ETB'd
Loved the video, really fun to watch. Tho can someone explain to me why Cameron was able to go off the turn he created all the treasures because don't you need need to tap them in order to sacrifice them for mana. The combo leaves all the treasures tapped.
Couldn't be deflecting swat used to redirect Bogardan Hellkite ping into itself, so the loop would be over? (if there was only one target to get hit by all 5dmg of course)
He can stack the ETB of the Hellkite and the Cloudstone so its back in his hand before the 5 damage happens meaning it would just fizzle as it's target is no longer on board. when the Active player has multiple triggered abilities hit the stack at the same time they choose how they go on the stack. I usually snipe the first game I have at a table, and then break even after thanks to the 2&3 cost stax pieces. Largest mana cost card I have in the deck is the clock of omens. If I start with it in hand I just mulligan. The trick is running all the one and two cost dwarves. You end up producing 5 treasure by turn 4 most times. It wins on turn 2-3 anytime I hit dockside. I’ve had a lot of people interact with Magda as I’m fetching clock, but then I just switch to like winter orb or tangle wire.
Not that it particularly matters, but after academy manufacturer hits the table you actually get infinite mana, infinite life gain, and infinite card draw. It’s just the infinities for card draw and life gain are technically smaller infinities. Because you now only have to tap one each time you do the loop. So you can switch between making tapped clue tokens and tapped food tokens to get enough untapped versions of either. Meanwhile every loop you get an untapped treasure. I usually just make infinite mana and then fetch one of my redundant win cons though.
I’m surprised to see people playing any dragons at all in cedh Magda decks. After making infinite mana with academy, the safest route seems to be pyrite spellbomb/elixir bc you’re not opening yourself up to counter magic. You can combo at instant speed without casting another spell. Kind of a toss up on the tangle vs blood moon decision. All in all, good Magda showing.
