I feel like every nurse should become a CNA before stepping into the nursing field. I’m a CNA and most nurses don’t understand how hard working CNA’s actually are. CNA’s are for sure under appreciated. The only two charge nurses who have ever helped me with patient care were two nurses who were CNA’s before. I want to go to school for nursing but whew, it is soooo long
Mailia Xiong agreed. All nurses should be CNAs before getting into nursing school! I worked as a CNA for almost a decade before becoming a nurse and it really helped me be a better nurse. I definitely think you should go for your RN! It’s long and god it’s hard but it’s so worth it :)
I agree 100%. I believe the state of Washington is making CNA experience a requirement for nursing school. I was a CNA all through nursing school, and I loved it. If you work in a hospital as a CNA you may find that nurses are soooo much more helpful since they don't have such a crazy patient load.
I will be a nurse without being a CNA first. But just because I wasn't a CNA first doesn't mean I will treat a CNA below me. We are all there for one thing. And that is patient care. Regardless of out title. CNA, LVN, RN..
I even suggest, if possible, volunteering as a high school student before that. I've learned so much about bedside care and how to actually treat patients by simply volunteering at my local hospital for emergency and physical therapy
I'm a CNA too, and that's true. The nurses that help are usually nurses that used to be CNAs. They know what we go through. I've been a CNA for 2 years and on the road to become a nurse in 2 years as well. I'm in an RN program at a community college.
Penny using a spongebob meme in a video sponsored by Bill Gates is the reason i stan
(And thank you for the video! I had so many questions and this answered almost all of them!)
Hello , how're you doing, I hope you are doing fine. I'm David from Houston, Texas. Where are you from? You seems like a real Country girl😊🌹
Nursing school is tough, mad respect.
I’m scared 😭😭😭😭😭I want to become RN but
@@timaa_4193 FELT
You scared me right now
It only says we need basic math level and at least algebra level, differentiates in different states. Math is the only thing that worries me cause I hate math but also love it compared to English subject.
@@bme7995 If it makes you feel better my sister is terrible at math, she failed geometry in hs and was able to pass her college math class(I think it’s Math 100 or 101). I’m actually good at math so my counselor is trying to put me at an engineer level math class I’m not sure why if I only need basic math for nursing so I’m terrified.
I’m so happy that you recommended Community College as a great option for people. So many people look down on community college, but as someone who is graduating from a cc and transferring it was the beat choice I made. I’m saving money and spending the same years as all my friends that spend thousands at at a university. Congratulations Penny on becoming a RN! 😊
This is what I am planning to do. I am finishing my junior year in hs and want to be a nurse. After graduating I’m planning on going to cc for prerequisites than transferring to my state university’s program. My fear is that I won’t get accepted into it even with good grades because I heard it’s harder for transfers. Even the cc nursing program is hard to get into because there are soo many applicants.
Yasmine I was told the opposite! When taking to a counselor of a college, they told me transfers are likely to get accepted because they have the college experience and are more safe to take in!
@@najat4339 do you know what to major in in order to get into a nursing program?
Can I still Become A Nurse, Even with just a G.E.D
U know you made it when BILL GATES sponsors you
Bro when you put the “sponsored by Bill and Melinda Gates” I thought you were joking but CONGRATS on that AND YOUR DEGREE!!!
I’d be a nurse if I didn’t pass out at the sight of needles 🙃
NCT illichi like as a job because I’m scared of needles? Or is this a response to what I said before that? I’m confused
@@EchoFreckle123 as a job heard they also get paid well
NCT illichi sounds fun 😂
I know several nurses who are like this actually!!!! They are some of our absolute best at placing IVs, lab draws, and minimally painful injections! I value their perspective a lot
Dude I am a successful RN who has to lay down for every flu shot each year. You won’t be a bad nurse - you would be a terrible heroin addict and that’s okay 👌
Literally the first few seconds is me right now since I'm literally a nursing major lol
If you can read write and listen you can be a nurse. More importantly it takes discipline to study. It’s that simple. It’s so rewarding just DO IT.
Well said ! We'd love your feedback on our 1 video on our channel when you have a chance
Ok, literally a successful woman back at it again, and she’s Latina, even better, work sis, work!!👍🏾👸🏽
They say third times a charm, am officially a nurse 🎉🎉 for all my repeat test takers don't give up and don't be discouraged.
You will pass everyone has their own season, just keep going pray and believe you will receive
I failed 3 times, i lost money to scams and reviews that never helped but the major thing is that I've not lost hope
@@caterina5943 I’m sorry for your plight my friend but i was once in your shoes before i was recommended to Mrs Virginia Gomez and thats how i passed Nclex
I used some Uworld, some Remar, and read a lil saunders. I did 3 nurse achieve exams and my result came back failed
I only studied a lot when i went for the first time last year at but the second time was so easy, all thanks to my aunt who introduced me to Mrs Virginia am really grateful
I feel like a lot of people see how far we come, and they might assume it’s been an uphill journey that brought us to that point. But I like how this video really highlights how much of an up and down journey it is, especially with trying again on things you’ve failed at the first time. Inspirational af😪
I'm 27, broke, and just starting nursing school this May 😭😭😭😭 these student loans scare me more than the upcoming stress 😂
@-- go for it~
Lol I'm old enough to be your mother and I'm in nursing school!! Its expensive but I'll be earning a great salary when I'm done next year.
Honestly, I just love how much you promote higher education and striving for more, especially in the world we live in now.🙏🏼 Girl, you truly are impacting this generation and setting a great example for many. 😭🙌🏼 thank you for being you. 🤧💕
🥺💕
Nursing school was the most difficult time of my life. It tested me mentally, physically and spiritually lol. I remember days when we had a test, presentation AND pop quiz all in one damn day!! LoL...it was worth it though, so many opportunities out there and we really do make a difference. Congratulations on completing your Bachelors program with high honors and on your sponsorship!! 💗💉💗
There is also another way to do a nursing program! It’s called direct admission. I did this and this is perfect for anyone who has taken medical based classes during high school, lots of hospital volunteer hours, and good grades. A nursing college will accept you right into their program straight out of high school!! That means no pre-req stress about getting straight As- just making sure you pass the classes according to your colleges rules. It makes the process SOOOO much easier and it looks great on future RN applications! Try it out 💕 lots of people don’t know about this
What college?
what college ?
being a first-generation college student has made me feel left out ... dude idk but you just made me feel GOOD to be here ! i really want to cry but i’m not gonna give up. If you dirrrrrit, i’m gonna do it :’) ❤️ gracias
I’ve been an LVN almost 4 years and I’m trying to get into RN school now, working full time and going to school full time! So proud of you Peniel nursing isn’t for the weak!
WHEN I GROW I WANT TO BE A NURSE TOO!!
Same 🥺🤲🏽
Omg I can’t wait to become a nurse practitioner once I graduate highschool. I’m in a CNA program in my technical highschool and I’m getting so much experience and I love it.
Lizzieeee Same, my high school offers a medical assisting program, super helpful 😊
Baekhyun's gucci it’s such great experience
Lucky u, I don’t have that in high school so imma have to struggle in college, great
you have no idea how happy this made me feel I just found out today that I failed the NCLEX so this really gave me hope thank you penny!
It's okay, don't give up you've come this far!
denise marquez same here! It’s tough because I struggled with depression and it effected my grades :( so I’m going to hope I can get back on track
You know I didn't pass on my first try, I ended using a nclex prep program that worked for me and I passed. I've been a nurse for 3 years now.
You got this!!
@ChubbyBunny Rivera I'm honestly crying. Thank you much for the motivation. You're the best
@@kellysonallison Thank you so much for your kind words, it really means a lot to me
I've been a CNA for 8 years and I'm starting school this summer going for my RN. I know it's going to be hard and I'm so bad with test but I'm going for it. Your video was very inspiring. Thank you ! 😊
I can totally relate to the nightmares. I still have them as well.
I watched my mom go through nursing school as a kid and I never really thought abt how hard she worked to get into a career that would help people and her family
Thanks for posting this and for working hard to help people 💛
I changed my dream profession to nursing about a year ago and this video gave me the extra push I needed. I was having so many doubts, thank you for sharing your journey 💗! More nursing videos will be highly appreciated lol, love you❤
Im currently applying to be in the nursing program and honestly thank you for being so candid about how absolutely grueling it is! Sometimes you feel like you are the only one struggling but it’s so refreshing to see that you aren’t the only one and that it is completely normal to be overwhelmed but not impossible to overcome
I’m in my second semester of my BSN program. I was also a 4.0 student before nursing school. I got my first B+ during my first semester and it really hurt. Seems ridiculous but it ruined by 4.0 and that hurt lol. Thank you for your encouragement. I’m currently drowning in studying and trying not to go insane. This video made me really happy!! Please make more nursing videos.
Thank you for posting your experience, Penny. I'm currently working on my BA to become a teacher-librarian, and let me tell you! This encourages me to continue to work hard and not give up on the end goal. I'm so proud of all of your accomplishments. It's only up from here.
I am only an LPN but took an accelerated course myself finishing in 10 months and I can totally relate when it comes to taking a test or even multiple a week and the feeling of getting a bad grade and how devasting it can be. SUPER PROUD of you for completing not only nursing school but even the NCLEX even if it was the second try ! I know how CRAZY NERVE WRecking taking the NCLEx can be ! GET IT PENNY !
Every word of this is absolute truth. 😳 Nursing school was the hardest thing I’ve ever done but I’ve been a nurse for almost three years now and I am loving it. Also guys don’t forget about specialty clinics! I’ve been working with an ophthalmologist for the past few years and it’s really neat stuff.
She’s back again but with da KNOWLEDGE ❤️👩🏽🏫
Ayyy she got through all that and is still positive
I’m 22 barely finishing my associates of science in child development and watching this made me feel so dumb yet inspired. I don’t even know what I want to do anymore... I’m sick of studying (even though it’s just been 2 years at a community college). I don’t even know what my dream career is or my passion is anymore. I want to be done with school but also have a secure job. I feel like I’ve wasted two years of money and studying because you can’t even do anything with an associates degree. I don’t have a permanent job and still living with my parents. I feel like such a loser.
Same😔😔
How r u doing now?
You are honestly someone I look up to. You’re goals and morals are so high and I love that.
:')
Omg, imagine going to the doc and Penny walks in ! Congrats on your success girl!
I work in higher education and everything Pen said about Nursing Major is so true. I am sooooooo proud that she survived!! It is one of the hardest careers to survive in college! Good on you Pen!!!!
good for you for not giving up on your ambition! my mom also failed medical school the first time, but now she's an accomplished doctor! good luck and be safe!
Just passed the NCLEX two days ago, about to start as a new grad on the ICU float team 😭😭
Congratulations!
when “Bill & Melinda Gates” sponsoring this video is NOT A JOKE !!? 🤯🤩🥳
Yaaassss!!! I'm currently in my last semester of my ADN program and can't wait to graduate!! I'll be one more latina in the field!! :) I hope to make it to NP school after I finish my BSN! Let's goooo!
Nursing is the greatest job in the world. Exciting, versatile, and you get paid good money to HELP people. Very rewarding!
Congrats Penny on your journey and perseverance!!! 🎉 I just wanted to quickly share that I have a medically fragile 17mo old at home and I have to say how much we value our home nurses. Trust and understanding is something us tired mamas value and appreciate so so much! (And of course, your helping hand). You're gonna do amazing!! 💕💕 thank you for sharing!!
IN LPN here. Used to do pediatric homecare. Fulfilling but emotional. Have done psych floor nursing, substance abuse, and now do intake at the psych facility and visiting wellness nurse for Medicaid waiver clients. Currently looking for bridge program online. I think what you've accomplished is awesome and you should be very proud!
I was really afraid to watch this video because I'm in the process of trying to become a nurse, and it's just been so hard for the last year with my classes. So I've been avoiding nurse related topics. But I needed to hear that I'm not the only one that has been struggling. Thank u for making this video ❤
I really appreciate your videos where you talk about nursing!! It helped me so much to hear you, someone that comes off as very relatable & accessible, talk candidly about your experiences. I always felt so distanced and disconnected from any medical field type professions because I knew they all required long grueling years of study & prerequisites, which weren't something I felt I was capable of completing, nor did I think I had any interest in the medical field. I recently decided that I want to become a certified medical assistant - not exactly the same thing as I'm sure you know, but it feels so right to set this goal for myself. I've always wanted to help people in whatever career I ended up in. I'm so grateful to have seen your videos because it helped me to picture myself in a more medical setting. And knowing how smart you are and how much hard work you put into studying and preparing for your career has helped to remind me that I'm smart and I can work hard to develop a career for myself as well. I wish you success at your new job, Penny!
So proud of you Penny!! I remember when you weren’t sure if you were going to keep going, and now you’re finished!Such an inspiration for others 🙌🏼💕
I went back to school to become a nurse and honestly this helps so much. Thank you!
9:53 you made me cry Penny you're such an inspiration congrats u deserve it BESOS DESDE COLOMBIA ❤❤❤❤
I graduate in May 2020 with my BSN and you’ve been such an inspiration ! I love you and your videos! Good luck on your first day! So proud of you!
Absolutely love your personality & the positivity you leave each of your viewers with as we enjoy your videos!! 💙
Needed this video!! Just graduated with my bachelors in nutrition but I had a change of heart and want to be an RN instead of an RD. Ultimate goal is becoming a CRNP. I’m extremely nervous but excited to finally feel like my life is going in the direction I want it to.
I was a nursing student, but I learned along the journey that it wasn't for me. Watching your videos and hearing about your experience brought back some good and bad memories I experienced in nursing school and my old job as a caregiver lol
But it definitely made me appreciate and understand the work that goes behind and those in healthcare treating people to help them get better. My mom is also a nurse so I have so much respect for her.
I'm really proud of you, Penny! Also, that sponsorship from Bill and Melinda Gates tho
How did you realize it wasn't for you? Definitely second guessing myself since it wasn't my first option.
Congratulations on the new job. You have worked so hard for this. There are many nurses in my family (my sister, 2 nieces, 1 nephew) and I have multiple friends who are nurses as well. Thank you for what you are doing. It's something not everyone is cut out to do.
Congrats Penny! This world needs people like you in the medical field, compassionate and caring. 👍
Im in the nursing program at my local community college ! Just started last month, doing my BSN online when I finish too. And you are so inspiring. 🤓❤️❤️
OH MY GOODNESS THANK YOU!
I really want to pursue a career in medical, such as nursing or a full on doctor, and this is just the perfect push of motivation. Thank you so much 💕
I’m so proud of you! I’m here because I missed your videos. Your determination and discipline is something that I really admire. I’m not interested in becoming a nurse, but I have great respect for you. I’m hoping to make a career change this year. 💞
yes penny!!! congrats on passing the nclex and getting your bsn
I just graduated in december with my bsn and passed the nclex a couple of weeks ago! after 4 and a half years, i'm finally an RN! I will be in OR nursing and my new job started this week :) so proud of you and us as nurses! :)

I appreciate this video so much! ❣️ I just finished my C.N.A. program and my goal is to become a R.N. like my father. I know the journey will be difficult but I know it’s worth it! Much love Penny!
Basically everyone in my family is a nurse and, while I am way too afraid of blood to become one myself, it did inspire me to work in the mental health field with developmentally delayed individuals and physically disabled individuals.
I am honestly so proud of you penny! It scares me when you see some of the people kids have to "look up to" nowadays, but you provide an actual good example! You are kind, intelligent, creative and hard working! No doubt you will inspire many girls and boys to not only pursue their dreams, but to pursue their dreams that add value to the lives of others.
You truly radiate God's love and kindness. Thank you and I wish you the best of luck in your new job! You will do great!!!:-)
Loved this video! It made me relive all the struggles of pre nursing and nursing school. Girl, I failed the NCLEX twice and finally passed on my third time. I cried so much and questioned my decision of becoming a nurse during that time. But I did it and have been a RN for 2 years now! Congrats on your new job! I’m in a similar position but I help medically fragile children while they are at school. I love it so far.
Pennnnayyyyy!! First of, I love you and thank you for sharing your journey. Nursing school is no joke. The NCLEX is no joke. I failed the NCLEX once and I still haven't retaken it cause I'm still in a funk about it, but I'm back on the grind on studying. So hopefully one day, soon, I'll schedule my exam and PASS!!
why am i crying
WHY AM I CRYING
🥺 I’m so proud of u
🥺💕
Currently doing my prerequisites for nursing school ♥️ I hope n pray everyone else doing prereqs will learn the most and become amazing nurses!
I’m sitting here crying listening to you talk about failing and not giving up and then succeeding. Girl yas!!! 🙌🏻👏🏻
i’m in nursing school right now and the struggle is so real 😭😭
I was on the chancellor’s/dean’s list before nursing school (no longer on it but that’s okay). Honestly the studying/getting thrown into the unfamiliar was fine, but the HARDEST part of nursing is balancing everything else life throws at you.
(Depression, financial problems, death, pregnancy, etc.)
The key to nursing school is PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION! As my homie, Winston Churchill, once said, “continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the key to unlocking our potential.”
💟
I'm in my first term of nursing core, and I legit cried for you. I've been watching you FOR YEARS, and I am so proud of you, Penny!
Congratulations Penny! You have made it with your consistent efforts. Good luck on your job.
I'm in the process of getting my nurse aid certification and planning to become a nurse. I finished all the prerequisites and applied to 2 schools. Got accepted into both schools but not the program 😑. Persistence is key! I'm going to work as a cna and I'm determined to become a nurse no matter what it takes!
Gorl thank you for making this, I be feeling inspireddd, good luck on your journey and you amazing🙌🏽🙌🏽!
I was feeling so stuck with what I wanted to do with my life, until I came across your videos. My four year old LOVES your videos, thank you for inspiring US.
I’m so proud of you and and your journey. You’re a force to be reckoned with🌟
I am currently working as a CNA in my high school, so thank you so much for this video Penny !!! Love yah
YES girl!! Im an LPN now but back in school to get my BSN!! woooo
i’m a sophomore in highschool and i just recently applied to a program offered by an awesome college in my state . this video was very much needed!! thank you for the motivation it really gives me an insane drive to work and study harder !
Did you end up doing it ?
I just started my first year of nursing school and I’m absolutely mortified I will fail. This video gave me hope and more willpower to do well. Thank you penny 💕
omg i completely didn’t see this! thank you for this i’m going through prerequisites rn and i really needed this. thank you!
my hands get shaky just by WRITING so imagine ME as a nurse holy bejeebus
I didn't even think of my shaky af hands until you said that..

looks like it's time for a new career choice lmao
When I had friends who would join the nursing program I would wave bye to them after we would hangout because I knew it would be a while before I would see them again. Since they would spend the majority of their time in their dorms studying
Yes!! Love this, congratulations girl!! I took the radiography technology program at my local community college. I agree about the versatility, we see so many different things, it never gets stale!
I just got my EMT license and have been considering getting my nursing license, your video about being a labor and delivery nurse solidified that goal. Congrats on passing your NCLEX!!
This has officially STRESSED me out. I don’t wanna be a nurse but wait for it...
A surgeon

Elizabeth Bloom I wish you the best of luck!!! You got this. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You GOT THIS💪👌
You got this!! Positive vibes!!
You guys are so nice thank you. I’m just scared by the work load that will be ahead of me and the debt but I really will try. I really do want to become a surgeon
I wanna become a lawyer so we are both really out here but hopefully we will reach our dreams :)
What is crazy is that a "C" in some nursing programs is at 78% or 80% lol Luckily, my program is a 75%, pero like its still scary.
It takes a special person to be a nurse. All my nurse friends have the most caring souls. So much respect for you! Especially as the first person in your family to go to college. First gen grad gang gang
Penny, all I can say is that you have made us proud😌💞. Also, yes I CONSIDERED nursing but I knew i wasn't going to find it fulfilling. I didn't want to spend so much time to get certified and not be a genuine nurse. Either way, I love to listen to others talk about what they love doing and i know I would love for you to keep doing nursing videos💞.
woah, I'm so proud of this curly, Latina queen! how often do peoples videos get sponsered by BILL GATES!?!
YEESSSS I’m currently in hs and my dream is to become a RN and your one of my biggest inspiration 🥺❤️
Congratulations on the new job! You'll be great!! 🥳 I did pediatric home health for a bit and it's very rewarding.
The intro is so me rn 🥺 I’m currently in LVN school & I’m always second guessing my self. Penny you are so inspiring 💕
Haven’t seen this yet (obviously😬) but thanks for uploading this! I’m taking a gap year next school year but after that I plan on going to school so I can become a registered nurse :)
I just graduated my registered nursing degree program this month in Canada and I’m studying for the NCLEX right now- I am so happy I watched this- the journey to diploma vs degree nursing in the states always confused me! Here in Saskatchewan Canada you can’t even take the NCLEX without a bachelors degree. Congrats Penny we made it 😛
I don't even know if diploma programs exist anymore in the US. The only diploma nurses I know graduated in the 1960's.
I am so happy that I have a Latina I can look up to on this very hard journey. I am asking myself the questions you asked yourself. I am feeling more confident and it helped me decide to work my CNA. Thank you, Penny! I am also from WA
Congrats! ❤️❤️I’m currently in nursing school and you talking about the feeling of graduating makes me so excited
