Personally I grew to not like malmsteen after a long time . In the early days though I thought he was the man . My god I had never thought my ears would hear anything like that . Just incredible .
The best thing is these guys are 3x levels above the label celebrated pop shredders from 81-90, and I factor Vai and Satch and EVH proximal but superior to that lot. Those of that lot that were truly something like Reb Beach evolved into a personality much closer to these gentlemen. No flair, great style, but intellectuality, no ego, sharing at a level only they know. We’re super lucky that there is enough emotion in the spirit of guitar that individuals can press the full speed, dexterity, theory levels but still infuse emotion. With the evolution of how things have gone. Guitar is alive. More is more, as YJM says. If each thing counts and has value to the items preceding it. But that’s rare, because few players understand what speed means. These cats do. We’re lucky to be learning guitar with the inspiration coupled with the information. Before 2010, learning was 1 year behind and on paper. Unless you only used your ears.
I love that these guys pay homage to The King! The derivatives of Yngwie in chronological order were: David T. Chastain (‘85), Tony MacAlpine (Jan ‘86), Vinnie Moore (Aug ‘86), Paul Gilbert (‘87) and then all the rest… GREG HOWE is in a league of his own, didn’t really do the Bach Rock neo-classical stuff that Yngwie invented, although he easily could have and has demonstrated that he can on some of his recordings. I believe he is the best All-Around guitarist ever. Guthrie Govan has been heavily influenced by him.
Two absolute beasts. So nice to see them together.
What I got from this video is that the author is very grateful for watching
Andy always guides so logically
Two unbelievably good players

Rick has a pony tail growing out of nowhere
He is still better at that than I am :)

Vinnie Moore Time Odyssey and Minds Eye were different level.
This is cool.
2:45 ricks so funny, “I’m not playing it” lol.
Andy is a beast. No offense to Andy intended, but Rick is Rickdiculous. Challenge that man and taste your own doom. 🔥🎸🔥

Uli Jon Roth & Ritchie Blackmore, were doing that Neoclassical thing long before Yngwie.
Nothing either of those guys have made is even remotely similar to anything malmsteen has made
Paul Gilbert was actually a bit earlier. The first Racer X album was released on 1986
I couldn’t agree more it’s like Greg Howe, any James Michael Romeo yngwie Malmsteen Paul Gilbert can’t be touched
Two monsters, Ithink they could afford 2 amps for the demonstrations LOL
1:04 damn😮
Dayummm Rick 🤘🤘
Keith noon Once said "They remember your entrance and your exit And everything in the middle doesn't mean very much!🤣
Blackmore, schenker, van halen, malmsteen. Everyone else since. You are welcome 😂
I like how Andy doesn't have to dial back his accent/talking speed when conversing with another brit 😁
