Nah, the opponent just didn't draw Whelp until it was irrelevant. Thankfully we no longer have to worry about that card.

As long as they're able to pull it, they're fine. Most druid players I know want easy games where they have no chance of losing. The more they trigger their opponent, the better.

its been about 6 years since ive watched any sort of hearthstone content and my word has kibler gotten handsome
The fact that Doomkin can only steal empty mana crystals is just so irrelevant. Most of the time you have to deal with a 4/5 that came down a turn before, plus whatever was already on board
Just play around it by *checks notes* skipping turns 4-6

Doomkin isn't the problem. I mean, no one plays it in Warlock. The problem is Druid mana ramping, which has always enabled the class to do unfun things.
@@murlocaggrob2192 The thing is that the deck is way to cohesive with no way to disrupt it and that is further strengthened by the ramping and deck thinning, i dirty ratted Doomkin multiple times and it does nothing, Just compare Wondrous Wand on druid to other classes, there are dozens of mediocre and low mana bad picks , and the Druid bad picks are either 1 mana cost +2 spell damage, refresh 4 mana crystals, and spend 0 mana to deal 10 damage across the board, you almost never draw the Whelp with Wand because you already played To the Skies before.
@@murlocaggrob2192 They need broken ramping, because playing one large minion per turn just isn't enough. Most classes will laugh at you while easily removing it or ignoring it. The class was so much better with Guff, 40 cards, and Sire Denathrius.
Doomkin on his own is just an annoying jerk. Doomkin paired with Wild Growths, innervates, whelps, and Flowerchildren is a war crime

Druids spend the entire game mana cheating, paying nothing for half their cards, ramping, drawing, doing backflips. Kibler plays a discounted card once and all of a sudden they don't want to play anymore.
Arguably....... they should be venomous not poisonous. 😅
