Ol' 1080 use to hang out over in the yard in Radford last year. I have a picture of it with the Wabash heritage unit from 2014 somewhere, SD70's sound good. Speaking of sounding good, that BNSF locomotive on the Triple crown was absolutely haulin the mail! Outstanding video as always ! Best regards, Chuck
Thank you so much for watching Chuck… The Triple Crown was the empty eastbound train and always seems to be able to get to track speed in between blocks. Lol
@@therailroadtiespiker You're most welcome. I lived in Lafayette, IN for 2 years while working as contract auto adjuster for State Farm. I spent a lot of downtime roaming the countryside! Wonderful country, second only to Texas! LOL.
Do you know if this was a formerly double track main? Interesting that they still have telegraph poles along the ROW. Not many of those around anymore.

Hi there, I absolutely love your railfanning videos - the captures you've made of these awesome trains are truly amazing! The quality and attention to detail is incredible, and it's been a real pleasure watching your content. Your videos have really made a fantastic contribution to the railfanning community, and they always put a smile on my face. I had a quick question for you - would it be possible for me to obtain your permission to use some of the sound recordings from your videos for my projects in the Trainz railroad simulator? I would be honored to incorporate your incredible audio into my own Trainz content. I would of course give you full credit and attribution as the original author, and I would revise and professionally process the recordings to ensure they meet the high standards of my Trainz projects. If granted, I would then upload these revised bogie sounds to the Trainz DLS (Download Station) with prominent credit given to you as the source. This would allow other Trainz enthusiasts to benefit from your amazing audio captures as well. I would be truly grateful for the opportunity to use your recordings in this way. Please let me know if you would be open to granting this permission - I would be more than happy to discuss the details further. Thank you again for sharing your incredible railfanning videos with all of us, they are a real joy to watch and have made a wonderful contribution to the community.
If a train blocks a crossing for an unconscionable amount of time then something has gone terribly wrong. Either in scheduling or in design. A train blocking a road is like a car blocking a bike path. It is abusing its size to the detriment of others. Obviously one can't help emergencies. My mother had the problem at Maryborough when riding her bike to school. When trains blocked the crossing she had to ride an extra 2km to get around them. This problem was finally fixed by creating an underpass for the main road. Changing the design to make it work better.
Fun fact, the railroad was there first, if people have issues with trains blocking, stop buying goods, live somewhere else lol. Nothing went wrong, they have a job to do, they're not blocking it for fun. I'm a engineer/conductor, believe me when I say we try our best not to block roads. But there's times we have no choice. Its a lot more than sitting up there blowing the horn at 3am. This is not a job for everyone, so final lesson of the day is, be patient.
@@j.padron8531 do tell why the insane amount of horn blowing, thought one or two approach a crossing would suffice, no it's three or four even when the gates are down. I love trains, but that unnecessary use of the horn would drive me mad if living trackside.
@@harrygoldun5779 A: Don't move trackside B: In general each road crossing has a mandated LONG, LONG, SHORT, LONG blowing sequence. There are exceptions but this is what you are usually going to hear.
@@cdavid8139 well here in Australia, it's usually a couple of short toots, when travelling through a protected or unprotected crossing, even at speed with a passenger train. Those loco's in your neck of the woods travel mostly at slower speeds, most times through a protected crossing, so would have thought one long blast would be enough. That horn show would really do my head in, totally unnecessary in my books.

It’s was really funny watching him towards the time NS 121 came to a stop you can hear him honking his air horn on the truck. I should have pointed it out on the video. Lol thank you so much for watching
I'll bet that truck driver is a farmer with a 1,001 things to do that day. He's either on his way to the grain elevator or returning back to the farm. I don't blame him for being whizzed off, I would be too.
Yes I should have added there was a really nice lady that stays at the campgrounds that told the driver he could turn around in there drive going into the campgrounds. Just thought it was really funny how he got out of his truck and started yelling at the train. 😂
@@therailroadtiespiker yes, but look at it. One train stopped short of the crossing and the other train is completely stopped blocking the crossing. It would entirely be a different matter if it was moving.
Hey great video! Yeah we have that same trouble here in California where I live in boron California that the trains are super long that they have three locomotives in the front, three in the middle and three in the back and our tracks. They go from 2:00 to 1:00 coming from Barstow to Bakersfield and sometimes you know you have to wait for like 20-30 minutes so they can creep along to barely have enough room. But what they should have did was built two tracks. One going one coming but they didn't do it. So now we have that problem. But I got a question for you. Why do all of the trains the wheels have flat spots? Is that because when they go to the main Depot and they transfer one tray to another, does it happen there or how does that happen? Please let me know. Thanks!
