- This episode was first broadcast on ITV on the 9th June, 1986. Like Bob Monkhouse who went before him, there is no one close to the kind of loss that light entertainment suffered when we said goodbye to good ole Brucie! The word "Institution" gets thrown around a lot, but never has it been defined more than it was defined by Bruce Forsyth. Also on this show were the delightful Roy Kinnear and the absolute gorgeous Jenny Agutter

The late great Roy Kinnear !! very underated legend
I miss Bruce so much, no one today comes close
That's when entertainment was good , simple honest good TV 👀
Wonderful, a real all rounder as the greats always were back then.
In total agreement
He had his critics Bruce, But what a legacy..One of Britain's greatest Entertainers...and a great innings.
R.I.P Sir Bruce Forsyth and Roy Kinnear.
Brucie was brilliant.
Bruce had a gift for creating humour out of thin air, he just had to turn up & the atmosphere changes, few people could make cushions being attached to a sofa a cause for merriment. Frankie Howerd had a similar gift.
As a fan of his tv shows my parents bought me a ticket for my birthday to see Bruce's one man show at the Blackpool Grand Theatre in 1988, the act had remained unchanged since the 1970's ( a live recording of it is on his album 'Both Sides Of Bruce' ) & he was mesmerising. I haven't seen anything before or since that came close to his command of the live audience. I saw the show the following year & apart from the odd current reference ( he mentioned Ken Dodd's tax evasion ) it was identical to the previous year.
Have you seen Frankie Howerd's appearance on the Generation Game in the Cinderella sketch? Absolutely at his best!
