    I've been attending opera for 45 years in great houses from New York to San Francisco, and I've never heard an Italian tenor with such a combination of skills. I've seen him live 12 times now, and he always moves me to my soul with the beauty and passion of his singing and acting. He is one for the ages.

      It is critical that we judge singers in live performance in house. There are so many variables and potential manipulations in a recording or a film. I've heard two baritones in concert in recent times-Gerald Finley and Christopher Maltman-and the person to person experience is radically different to recordings of various sorts. In the hall these voices where outstanding in there fluency. beauty and a thousand more adjectives. No comparison.

    I heard Michael Fabiano for the first time yesterday and was really moved by his singing , he has a true Tenor voice with a refined quality of tone throughout his range with ringing top notes , but what impresses me most is his evenness of rhythm , continuous fluidity of sound , really beautiful intelligent singing !!!

      I notice that a telltale sign of someone who is singing beyond their natural capabilities is that they cannot sing legato. You might be impressed by a large full sound, but if they don't sing legato, something is wrong vocally.

At the end, having listened to his unmatched Verdi singing, the colours, the commitment his Callas-like dramatic gestures, his eyes - OMG HIS EYES, derived totally from the music libretto and his G-d given artistry, literally I STOOD AND CHEERED - BRAVO! Go find another!

    Well, MrCafiero, you have to hear singers live to get a true impression. And, having heard him in the house on a number of occasions, I can tell you he is the real thing. His singing is in a direct line of that great tradition which stretches back to the early 20th Century.

      Dear sir
      Fear is not something I struggle with. True, many singers face issues of fright or difficulty to deliver. I'm fortunate to not have that bone. All singers have there obstacles and their glories ... my glory is being able to get out there and do whatever it is in me to deliver for YOU and yoir friends in the best way possible. I owe it to you since it's you who love opera and seek it out as often as you do. No one is perfect and I certainly won't claim to be a herald of the best. What I can claim is that I go out there and deliver because it's what I love to do and I do it for you.
      I appreciate yoir comments and your opinions and know that us singers note what our fans friends and not-so-fans think bc we desire to do our best for you
      Kindest regards
      Michael

    Certainly an accomplished young voice.....However, to start by predicting greatness is a shaky proposition. It has been said that a great voice is that once heard it is instantly recognizable the next time "his/her" voice is heard again as "his/hers".....Wunderlich, Pavarotti, Melchior, Ramey, Moffo.....I don't believe that such is this voice's quality at this time....But certainly a "clean" sound....So, bravo.

      What is worrying today is the popularity of opera around the world , the demands made on young voices to sing heavier roles than they are ready for , that they risk ruining their voice too early in their career . i hope that this young man can control what he sing and how often he performs .

    Le répertoire du msr. Fabien est tres vaste. Il va de Elisire et Manon (Massenet) à Carmen, de Traviata à Poliuto, de Don Carlo à Lucia, Faust et Tosca. Oh là là! Donizzeti, Verdi, Offenbach, Pucini...Bien sûr c'est incroyable, mais vrai. Il est un ténor très polyvalent. On peut dire qu’il chante de tout, mais mal, voire pire. Malheureusement, il ne chante pas, il ne fait pas qu'aboyer. Peut-être paie-t-il pour chanter?

    Please tell me what is all the fuss about with Fabiano? He strains to get his top notes, singing roles that are far too heavy for him and not that pleasant a tone. Listen to Bergonzi to hear how this aria should be sung.

    • @Huaimek861
      @Huaimek861 5 лет назад +1

      I would agree with you regarding his singing too heavy roles , but he is a true tenor with a clear tone and easy top notes , but in an aria such as this he is pushing it . I have been a great fan of Bergonzi , but he was a baritone at the beginning of his career , so you would expect a more robust sound as would be required in this role .

  • @antoniobarcelona6499

    • @SilverSingingMethod
      @SilverSingingMethod 8 лет назад +11

      Roberto Jonas This type of singing is not opera quality; the quality that was established by the originals, many of whom worked with the composers. These types of singers would never have been acceptable. Correlli spoke about how inadequate voice were when he was alive. Tebaldi said the same; "all we have are tiny mosquitoes flying around." Listen to the greats of the past who established what opera is and the vocal standards that were set that made it opera. Listen to Tebaldi, Gigli, Caruso, Di Stefano, Ponselle, Ruffo, Merrill, Corelli, Del Monaco, Maipiero, Massini, Scipa, Völker, Thill, Wunderlich, my teacher's student Jerry Hadley - arguably the greatest American tenor. Look up him singing En fermant les yeux - Manon. These singers are on a lever that the singers now can't even touch. They are the standard.

    • @sevoflurane
      @sevoflurane 8 лет назад +3
