"Wiener Blut" (which means "Viennese Blood") is about the Josef Fritzl case. The Austrian who imprisoned his daughter in a basement at his home and fathered several children with her.
And that is not even the oddest thing they sing about. That must be the case of the cannibal that put an add in the paper: gesucht.. someone that wants to be eaten. And then it happens. 'Mein Teil' (those are My Parts!)

Meiwes killed a volunteer, yes its a crime yes its creepy and disgusting, but Fritzl locked in his daughter for 24 years in the cellar, raped her in this time and she gives seven children birth in this time. 24 years .. and the children..... Horror!

The song is about a father from Austria kidnapping his own 17-year-old daughter and keeping her locked in his basement, while he lives above with her mother. He kept her there for 24 years and fathered 7 children on her.
He let her keep 3, took in 3 with his wife (he made his daughter write a letter that she ran away and wants them to take care of her kids), and killed the last one by throwing it into an incinerator.
Days later, she was so sick from the birth that he took her out, for the first time in 24 years she saw daylight, and took her to the hospital. She barely managed to get out a straight sentence and tell the staff what happened to her.
24 years of rape in complete darkness, raising 3 children in that environment. Her mother supposedly knew nothing.

In my oinion it's quite interesting to see in reactions how fans from other countrys understand the message of the songs just by the sound,the and the performance from Till and the way he sings this song! I mean.. Suzi Q nailed it just by feeling the agression of the song and the wipes that something is different with " Wiener Blut". Don't see anything wrong with that. In this song they originally had a classical piece playing at the beginning with an old turntable and hanging baby dolls with laser eyes in the roof, this dolls exploded with the song in the outro.
This was in 2009-2011, you can see it in the "In Amerika" show.

One suggestions, maybe pull up the lyrics before reacting. This song has a serious true story to it. Rammstein never shies away from the topics no other band/performer would touch. But they are doing it in a very eloquent and intriguing way. Especially the way Till Lindemann can write songs and poetry.

Guys there are actually a side projects by both Till (singer) and Richard (guitarplayer). They are called Lindemann and Emigrate. Worth giving a try!

I rreally like Rammstein. As a German, they've been part of me growing up so no hate here. But I think it's worth pointing out that his screams during the chorus totally come from a backing track. They do that a lot, with all his more "extreme" vocals.
Whatever I guess, it's all done to give the audience the best show possible but yup. There's that.
It's also to save/protect his voice. These guys aren't getting any younger tbf.
The same goes with the chorus line from "Ich tu dir weh". They sound all the same.

A note about the logo in the upper left, "zdf.kultur": ZDF = Zweites deutsches Fernsehen = Second german TV Channel, a free TV channel. Kultur = Culture. Concerts like this are often broadcasted in Germany on free TV channels.

Great job guys that is a more traditional metal song IMHO.
On a side note I just watched a new documentary on Netflix about a political murder in Germany during east and west German reunification. They interviewed Flake in first episode to get his thoughts on what it was like then.

Context matters. Not easy to understand this one. As Kwiffiff mentioned, it's based on the true case of Josef Fritzl.
Hence, "welcome to darkness". Imagine being captured in a basement for 24 years on.

You have to know the Story behind this Song. Its based on an austrian guy fom Amstetten, named Josef Fritzl. He locked his own daughter in the basement of his house for 24 years. 7 childrens were born in this time from 1984-2008. The daughter and the children didnt see the daylight for All this years. If you know this Story, the Song feels way more darker and heavier. Sorry for my bad english. Rammstein uses a lot of storys like this in their songs.

The title is also a bit of a musical joke. "Weiner Blut" is also the title of a charming waltz by Johann Strauss. You know..."The Beautiful Blue Danube", etc. Kinda musical opposites ;).

Don't! It's a great song and an amazing video but reactions to this get blocked in most cases. It's not worth the effort.
Yupp, instantly blocked, no matter what. In best case scenario, it will be unblocked after half a year or so. In worst case, never. That's actually the case for most Rammstein videos, hence peops stick to live shows.
