I’ve been meaning to make Cajun (not Creole) jambalaya for quite some time and I finally did it today. I followed your general approach, built a good fond, used sausage, pork shoulder, and a little smoked jowl and it was fan freaking tastic. I think I like it more than Creole style. Built up that fond nice and brown and was in flavor town! Great vid. Thanks!
@@countrycookingwithjoney Parboiled is pre-cooked rice. You work hard to get water flavor tasting great then put precooked rice in that won't absorb that great tasting liquid. Parboiled rice has to be over-seasoned to cover up it taste because it won't absorb. Improve your jambalaya dramatically and learn to be consistent with regular long grain rice.
@@countrycookingwithjoney It's not just seasoning but texture is completely off. No matter how much you cook it, it never fluffs . The rice splitting when its steamed correctly makes a big difference in taste and texture. Hey if you like it knock yourself out, But we don't use. Good cooking to ya.
Lmao. Yea.. you lost credibility when you can’t even spell Cajun correctly. Ever heard of the holy trinity?? Cmon dude. Keep up. You are probably used to that gonzales white jambalaya crap with a name like “ Brignac”
Just made one with deer meat and sausage... added a little okra and jalapeños... there no rules, and no measurements are ever needed.... god bless y'all from Mississippi

Awesome. Preciate dat. Keep on cooking.
Just found this video. Looks delicious ❤ Def gonna make this
Thanks. You should.
im creole but I typically dont like too much tomato in my jambalaya. maybe a little paste for color. I do like the cajun style "brown" jambalaya
I’ve had both. The red jambalaya isn’t that bad. I just did that video to mess with some friends on here lol
This looks goodt! Have to try
You should. 😍
LOOKS GOOD !
Thanks.
Whats the difference between cajun and creole jambalaya
Basically a creole jambalaya is a red jambalaya made with tomatoes. Cajun jambalaya doesn’t have tomatoes in it. That’s basically all
@countrycookingwithjoney What about the Creoles that's been making the jambalaya with brown gravy before the Cajuns got to Louisiana?
Travis tritt and slim thug
I'm with you bro, been makin like this for 35 years...lite on the spice...thank you.
You didn't have any bacon grease on hand? Blasphemy! 😂
lol. I did but what’s better than having fried bacon to snack on?? lol
Finally a real CAJUN recipe
@@Jayay717 thank you. Born and raised by cajun cooks
I add a small amount of kitchen bouquet to mine, i like the flavor it gives. Never tomatoes though. Anyway good looking food man!
Good job
Thanks.
Yum-O!
Thanks. 😍
No tomatoes in REAL JAMBALAYA
No tomatoes in Cajun recipes, keep the tomatoes to the Creole
Amen !!!!
Your best move was NO PARBOILED Rice. Only thing that taste good on that is butter.
Parboiled rice is the way to go. I can use either but I prefer parboiled rice

I use both. I’ve never had any isssue with parboiled. If you know how to seasoning your jambalaya then it don’t matter which rice you use

@@brucebills 😂😂. You must be from ascension parish
You lost me at celery. NO REAL Cajan uses celery, except in a soup, or maybe a salad.

So yeah. Might wanna keep your mouth shut so you don’t look stupid next time
No prawns???
Noooo. They don’t go in a real authentic cajun jambalaya.
@@countrycookingwithjoney it’s a joke. How bout étouffée?
@@alansieckman9270thank god lol. Nope

The ones from Mississippi will learn someday
No Trinty
There’s always Trinity in my jambalaya
You might wanna go watch the video again
If you don't measure your ingredients , it's useless because then you cannot pass on a recipe , so thanks for nothing
😂. You’re welcome
