    Served in WW2, 5 wives and four kids, prolific actor, well respected..... this guy had ENERGY.

    I met him twice about 15 years ago. Always smiling, always laughing. Nice, nice, nice man.

      I always loved him as an actor because he was truly humble and when he made it in Hollywood, it didn't go to his head. A very humble man who appreciated the opportunities that acting gave him.

    There's a happy, wonderful man right there! I really like Mr. Borgnine's candor, humility, and kindness. He was a great human being and a terrific actor.

      He was from Connecticut. As was Robert Mitchum. Probably my two favorite actors.

    I met him at a car show and he had a hand shake that could crush your hand, even though he was 92 at the time. Wonderful guy. Great actor.

    He was a honorary Chief Petty Officer, would visit our ship in port spend the day with the crew. Nothing but great things to say about the man. RIP shipmate you brightened allot of lifes.

    On Mc Hales Navy he was the established star of the series but he quickly realized this was an ensemble show and he became one of the boys . This was good for Conway , Flynn ,Ballentine , Hastings and the others . This shows in their work .

      Most people who live long lives are just lucky, or blessed, if you prefer. Same thing. Everybody has a different theory, no one knows for sure... and there are no guarantees of anything. That's just the way it is. I'm glad Ernest was blessed with a long life because he has made my life more enjoyable. R.I.P.
