On Mc Hales Navy he was the established star of the series but he quickly realized this was an ensemble show and he became one of the boys . This was good for Conway , Flynn ,Ballentine , Hastings and the others . This shows in their work .

I met him at a car show and he had a hand shake that could crush your hand, even though he was 92 at the time. Wonderful guy. Great actor.
