Great to see this again. I've loved everything that Maria has done from her "Ways To Be Wicked" Lone Justice years in 1985, to date. A wonderful musician and songwriter, just wished I'd managed to see her live.
@@StanSupreme1 Just listen and see if it works for you like it does for me. Voice prominent and so expressive, gorgeous acoustic guitar riff blending in. Feel of the song suits the lyrics, soothing and yet hinting at excitement. One of her best recordings I think.

The moment in time I realised my parents taste in old school country & western had not been going over my head but had informed my own. When this album hit me it struck like lightning!
So glad to know there are ppl out there still digging on this good music. A few young ladies could use some schooling on how to actually sing and write and play their own music.
Only looking back now at late 20th Century popular music, three females stand out like giants: Sinead O'Connor, Fiona Apple and Maria McKee. Of the three, McKee had (by far) the most powerful voice and commanding presence. The music industry didn't know what to do with her because she was too healthy and sure-of-herself. The fad was promoting dysfunction, which they packaged as "edginess". So if you weren't bald, had a heroin habit or struggled with sexual identity issues, they didn't promote you. McKee was defiantly feminine. Despite drawing on this monumental feminine power (like some sort of Earth goddess who could blow you off a stage with that stentorian voice), the music industry dropped the ball. McKee was a towering figure--and should have been as famous as Elvis or John Lennon. She's THAT good.
yes she could ride and stretch it out she's plumped out a bit recently now [being of Irish descent it's a bit of a downfall] but what a great song so soothing as the titles suggests!! enjoy and be safe during the HALLOWEEN season!!
Remembering buying this album when it came out..My girlfriend at the time got jealous cuz she thought i bought it just because Maria looked great:) That's was not the actual reason..Although Maria is sexy:) Absolutely one of my all-time favourite albums....
As AminorMorning says. Texas and Maria solo both released their debut albums in 1989. Maria's previous band, Lone Justice, had achieved a measure of attention and success, but not nearly enough to be copied by a capable outfit like Texas.
I read the other day that she and Ally (the guitarist of Texas) were an item briefly. Not sure if it’s true. Also believe she influenced Deacon Blue, who’s song Real Gone Kid was about her

I heard this song once or twice long ago - never knew it was Maria McKee. Glad I stumbled onto it.
