It will give you the 'banned message' if you are using Pretendo even though it's not banned. You just change it back to your Nintendo ID and it's not banned. Just in case that was your issue rather than it actually being banned...
Console was banned before I installed pretendo, I installed pretendo after realizing and didn't fix it. I use pretendo on the old 3ds mentioned, and it doesn't give the banned message. So I just assumed it got somehow banned before modding it.
I use a 256GB on my 3DS. I used to have a 128GB but once I gave up on virtual console and just used homebrew emulators I started using my 300 game limit for 3DS games and those are big enough that 128GB isn't enough but 256GB is plenty. Yeah I don't need 300 games on my 3DS but part of the fun is curating a nice library and having it all in my pocket. edit: As a note using a faster more modern A1 SD card actually sped thing up on my 3DS compared to my older and slower 128GB. I ran tests and my old card was in spec for its day but my newer card had basically double the read/write speeds and unexpectantly the 3DS took advantage.
Yeah... I wouldn't go for PNY micro SD cards. Samsung has never failed me, and Sandisk has been very good. PNY IS a name brand, but a genuine card doesn't always mean a reliable card. I got a really bad Lexar card before.
i love my modded new 3ds xl, there's so much i can do with it and i love the form factor. i also recently modded a friend's dsi xl and 3ds xl which was fun, but not as fun as when i modded my own 3ds
I dont think you can but i could be wrong. My understanding is that the modding relies on some of the base code/files specific to each DS so I could see this being an issue.
you should go for it I think . there will always be a method to recover your mistakes , and the guide is very well made . But it’s your choice , go for it when you feel like it
I just did it myself and it's actually really easy compared to other modding/emulation options. Turned my original 3ds xl in a modding machine and I'm glad I did. Everything runs well and it only took a few days of researching and ording stuff. The chances of you bricking your console is actually really really small since the modding scene has gotten so much better. However, on the 1% chance it actually does brick, then you could just use a backup to revive it.

I use 156 gb on my micro sd card with all my games on the 3ds, ds, virtual console games, and snes games

It wont work, the games are encrypted on the sd card so any data is console specific
