    On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
    If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

      When I was an Aviation Ordnanceman in the Navy, back in the late 80's
      The G.E. 20mm Vulcan cannons in all the aircraft that had one, were cycled by a 5 hp electric motor (housed in the "reciever" of the gun itself) that also had a (whatdayacallit)electric sparker thingy that lined up with the each of the barrels one at a time has they rotated thru the firing position of the cycle. Rather than an actual firing pin and perscussive type primer.
      Maybe bleed air to drive some parts of the electrical system but, I wouldn't know. That's more an A E. thing.
      I'd think they would want the gun to work under all foreseeable conditions....and would thus drive it with primary electrical but...
      How do you drive a gun with bleed air, anyway?

I ended up porting over to space technology but so this was the closest I ever got to flying it. It's not the same - but still. If you flare while rolling, it helps divert the missiles a lot. I did that last night on DCS, and it made 2 missiles miss my plane. Then, when I stopped rolling while flaring, I got hit. There's something about that maneuver of flaring while rolling that helps dodge missiles. I saw Maverick do that in Top Gun 2 and he also made a missile miss.

    • @potatofartsquad
      @potatofartsquad Год назад +7

      To be fair, Mav and team were flaring against radar guided SAMs too, it's just movie magic when it comes to that. But I do believe if you saturate the area with more countermeasures, you're more likely to survive, yes.

    The level of mechanophillia GS has for the Harrier in this video is just... unwholesome, and I love it.

    The Harrier and the Mi-24 Hind are both amongst my absolute favourite aircraft. Couldn’t agree more, they’re both visually stunning in my opinion.

      Alot of planes can kill themselves if they pull too hard, thing about modern at least NATO fighters is they have a G-Limiter to prevent such things from happening.

    I think the reason you like the harrier is because it can do so much but its so little and because it has really cool/beautiful visibility

    According to ChatGPT about the harrier nozzles and the gun:
    The exact position of the nozzles that prevents the AV-8B's gun from firing may vary depending on the specific model of the aircraft and the configuration of its weapons systems. However, in general, the nozzles need to be in a fully forward position for the gun to fire safely. This is because the gun is mounted on the centerline of the aircraft, and the exhaust from the engine can potentially damage the gun if the nozzles are not in their forward position. The weapons system is designed to prevent the gun from firing when the nozzles are in any other position.

    Love your content S/W when you dogfight 2 aircraft that IRL would never fight. Would it be possible to link your TrackIR settings? Keep up the good work brother!
