I'm Belgian and I have great respect for Lukaku. He's a great personality who always puts the team first (unlike KDB or Courtois) and actively coaches younger team mates. He's been insanely consistent for our national team and recently moved up to a (tied) 6th place in the international goal scorer of all time ranking. Still behind Ronaldo and Messi, but he is younger and with 117 caps and 85 goals he has a higher goals per game ratio. That consistency is indeed offset by his failure in the bigger games, and to me that feels mostly like a mental issue, acting more nervous in those matches. Nonetheless, I also think he's been incredibly unlucky. At ManU I feel he did quite ok in a team that didn't perform too well under Mourinho. And later going back to his favorite Chelsea which seemed a perfect match on paper, as they had a great defence and chance creation but lacked finishing. But in practice the club was managed by an idiot who played him in a role that totally didn't suit him. From what I remember, Lukaku also barely got back from injury for the WC 2022, he really wasn't at his best and it showed. Not to mention all the dissalowed goals at the Euros. I sincerely hope he can find the strength to silence all the sceptics, beginning with the game against France.
I feel like Lukaku is been cursed, the Chelsea saga, 2022 World Cup where he missed some of his chances, and the UCL final where is RESPONSIBLE for blocking the ball.
I'm a Burnley supporter, but Roma has always been my second team. As par for the course, Lukaku had some high spots with Roma, but as time went on, he became more and more jaded. He has all of the skill in the world, but he's lacking the drive and concentration to be world class.
As an inter fan, I have mixed feelings about him. He came to great fanfare, and was a really good signing. Apart from the hiccup at the EL final. His departure left a sour taste in my mouth, only rivaled by his 2nd - and final - departure. I appreciate all what he did with our team, and I wish him well.
Starting in SA I thought for sure Belgium would have got to a Final in the Euros or WC and maybe won. They just could never deliver when they needed it and played down to lesser competition. Truly sad
He’s the most bi polar player I’ve ever seen… he’s either complete crap or world class… no in between… and then you csnt tell when good form is coming or not… it just happens.
Maybe hes just one of those guys where the pressure gets to him, hence why he cooks in games where not much is on the line, but seems to fumble when its most important not to.
I completely forgot he even played for Manchester United. It was funny when you said what club do you think of when you think Lukaku and it took me a minute to think of one.
08:30 I actually played Lukaku at the U14 level...I was the opossing goalkeeper. I Was playing for an amateur club and we faced Anderlecht at some kind of youth football camp. Needless to say we got trashed something like 13-1 with both Lukaku and Musonda literally running the ball into my net multiple times, no way to stop them. He was literally 20 cm's taller and about 20 kg's heavier than me, which was huge at age 13. It was ridiculous. Only 3 years after that I saw on TV how he physically trashed Ajax defense in the europa league.
obviously an exceptionally great player at his best, but he always played with a chip on his shoulder (except periodically positive stints at west brom and serie a) kind of a shame, but he can thank himself imo
10:33 I know this off topic but this exactly why I am against the Saudi pro league, because where is the home grown talent?instead of investing money into greedy mercenaries why don’t they invest youth academies and pump money into the actual infrastructure.Maybe then they’d attract more of an audience and actually improve their National team aswell as their calibur of coaches.Maybe then they’d be able to gain more recognition as a footballing country.
As a united fan I've watched him quite a lot Actually he isn't that bad after all he's quite ok in holding the ball & bringing others into play bt his ball control & those misses & blocking others attempts in crucial moments let him down
Kevin DeBruyne has made people think that Romelu Lukaku is a world class striker. We're talking about a guy whose last good season was when he won the Scudetto with Inter Milan back in 2021. Since then he's been abysmal and because he's so limited technically as a striker he can't fall back like a Harry Kane which makes him way more isolated and he's not Haaland who scores more than he misses big chances
Fair technical analysis. But what I think you’re getting at is that he’s not good in the modern game. I just think the kind of striker like him doesn’t really exist anymore. He can’t impact the game as a creator as defenses are well oiled and compact-(also effects spacing i.e. harry kane) His physical traits while important are less impactful as teams defend closer to the goal than ever before. And ultimately the lukakus and hallands of the world just sit around at the arrowhead of the assault while not adding anything to their teams build up, but by usually putting their team down a man. He’ll often be at times unable to impact the game!!! Especially if a good defender has him, or Halland for that matter, in their back pocket-which all good teams have. No wonder they disappear in big games. I don’t trust halland or Lukaku to have a moment of magic and carry the team whenever somebody needs to step up. This is why I find the Ivan toneys, Agueros, and firminos of the world are so fun to watch. They function as a Swiss Army knife that can tear an opposing team apart at any moment. They always pose a threat that the defense has to challenge-instead of just overlying on their natural gifts. Pure strikers are also good and can be amazing to watch. They also primarily focus on goals like lakaka but still have a better skill set. Primarily Suarez and levandowski come to mind.
@@blakehammer9559 It's the difference between a complete striker vs a poaching striker. Usually top teams will have their own elite centerbacks who can use their equally strong physicality to neutralise a poacher's physical prowess (think Rudiger marking Haaland). In cases like this, technicality becomes very important, as you can no longer just hang around the box and have to roam from position to get more space.
anderlecht is the closest thing he has to a home. He won't be the belgian goat though. there's KDB & Hazard. But also Ceulemans, Scifo, Van Himst, Mermans, Coppens, ... . He's up there with some of the best. he's around Gerets level i'd say.
If he was a player who started in the 90s or early 2000s, his career would have been insane. Unfortunately, his prime happened when European football, especially English football, did not value a big target man nearly as much as in the past, his hold up play and midfield help are just awful and thats what modern strikers are all about.
Ive been into football for about a year or so now. Been a lifetime nba fan and AFL (Australian rukes football) but acter watching roma at the stadio Olimpico it blew my mind and I've been a massive fan ever since. Im a huge sport fan in general so knew a fair amount of Lukaku lore / history etc and have to say it was very interesting watxhing him this year for roma - he was really really good - but he also had a few absolutely useless ganes but there was nothing to fit the narrative and evidence of past failures that make lukaku so divisive. And then the euros happen and an alechmists dream mix of extremely bad luck and extremely poor play has happened and i am just so confused and perplexed by it all.
Any sport that involves technical aspects alongside real physicality, basically football and basketball really. Any player that relies way too much on their physical abilities will retire early, or have a very sad end to their career. Not that they would get injured or something, but they just put up numbers that are sad. Lukaku is 31, he is not getting better technically from this point on, and as his speed decreases, he will become obsolete. There’s no two ways about it, I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t stay in the top 5 leagues unless he takes a massive pay cut, or I wouldn’t be surprised if he retires at 33/34. He is almost useless without his pace, so he’s gonna be cooked
I think he is mid, but has a lot of mass. He became soo dependent on mass that it affected negstively his entire game, and well, here we are. He should have really gone to Saudi Arabia.
As an Inter fan, my opinion on Lukaku is as follows: Under Conte he was, without a doubt, one of the best strikers in the world. He was immensely strong, immensely fast, the system was catered to him, he was the king at Inter. It all went downhill when he made the move to Chelsea. There was no need to go back to prove himself in the Premier league, he was the man at Inter, why throw that away? 7.5M euros post tax is not a bad salary at all... He has now reverted to pre Conte Lukaku, which is a flat track bully who dissapears in big matches. Wish he disappeared in the 23 UCL Final to be honest 😂
Lukaku is Belgian version of Vieri. All left footed and no right foot what so ever. If Lukaku actually learned how to use his right foot. He would've been a world class player. The same could've been said for Vieri. modern day foot your striker has to be able to use booth feet for at least passing.

I think it must be a mental issue when he overthinks the big games, the fact it’s so consistent is crazy
it's definitely mental, at Inter he scored in every big match apart from the finals
I hope Romelu Lukaku starts for Belgium in the 2026 FIFA world cup. Badly want Belgium to go out early.
I love lukaka
I feel like Lukaku is been cursed, the Chelsea saga, 2022 World Cup where he missed some of his chances, and the UCL final where is RESPONSIBLE for blocking the ball.
It's sad to see, I'm an Everton fan and he played pretty decently for us, the odd games he would be quiet but apart from that quality
He balled out this europa league
Indeed, which makes him more confusing
You very polished as a content creator. Ive been following you dor years and I've seen the progress. Well done🤝
Lakaka, Lukaku and La Kakou are all greats. So much strength and Engine . But Zero finishing and all 3 forms as one person like Lakaka or some sort..
I'm a Burnley supporter, but Roma has always been my second team. As par for the course, Lukaku had some high spots with Roma, but as time went on, he became more and more jaded. He has all of the skill in the world, but he's lacking the drive and concentration to be world class.
poor lukaka can't catch a break hahahah. Nice video bro love from Dublin
Loved him in fifa 18
For such a “Top” goalscorer ..
He’s more remembered for his big misses & flopping at multiple clubs ..
I love you vizeh and your videos been watching for about 3 years now
Maybe hes just one of those guys where the pressure gets to him, hence why he cooks in games where not much is on the line, but seems to fumble when its most important not to.
Couldn’t finish a cooked dinner. I’ll never forget his miss in the CL final for Inter.
I’ll never forget Croatia
@@Vizeh
Yeah that was a stinker.
YOU HAD ONE JOB SLOVAKIA FOR CHRIST SAKE
Lukaku 🤝 Núñez
When it comes to missing easy, big chances
Nunez rn >>>> Lukak
gutted for him, used to be one of my favorite players in the albion and everton days
The Everton days man🕊️
I completely forgot he even played for Manchester United. It was funny when you said what club do you think of when you think Lukaku and it took me a minute to think of one.
My favourite description of him was that when he runs it looks like he's wearing jeans.
here just after France v Belgium, he was nowhere to be seen
The best description i have of him is a blind service dog
He's got two left feet, which he never fails to stick in his gob, when he's not tripping over both of them.
As a chelsea fan i dont even know what i think of lukaku. Ive watched him since he was like 19/20 and i still dont know what to make of him
08:30 I actually played Lukaku at the U14 level...I was the opossing goalkeeper.
Lukaku is walking underperformance.
obviously an exceptionally great player at his best, but he always played with a chip on his shoulder (except periodically positive stints at west brom and serie a) kind of a shame, but he can thank himself imo
hot take lukaku is playing a good tournament
Hot take Cristiano Ronaldo is playing a good tournament
Lakaka strikes yet again another Banger
Him probably
The first 2 minutes of this video completely changed my opinion of Lukaku
He’s simply too big and uncoordinated
As an Inter Milan fan, I should be pissed at him, but he was phenomenal when he played with us
10:33 I know this off topic but this exactly why I am against the Saudi pro league, because where is the home grown talent?instead of investing money into greedy mercenaries why don’t they invest youth academies and pump money into the actual infrastructure.Maybe then they’d attract more of an audience and actually improve their National team aswell as their calibur of coaches.Maybe then they’d be able to gain more recognition as a footballing country.
Nah it’s the constant statpadding against Estonia that fools the average viewer
Regardless of his shortcomings he is the greatest Belgian striker of all time.
1:04 concourage is crazy
hes such a class striker too, just has too many laughable moments
Such an consistently inconsistent baller man😂
I can't really defend Lukaku but he's actually smart you must say at some games but he gets unlucky
anderlecht is the closest thing he has to a home.
I actually feel bad for him. He should have stayed at Inter and I will never forget the hat trick he scored against us for West Brom
That’s actually our 2nd most sold West Brom Print too
@@Vizeh i think i know 1st
Everton lukaku was a menace
😢wow
He's been on the scene since roughly 2011/12 and I'm still thinking when is it going to work for Lukaku?
Tomorrow!!
(maybe)
If it wasn't for the VAR his 3 disallowed goals would've made him topscorer
I think he has an early peak arch, much like Rooney. Already a beast as a teenager, but regressing early in their 30s.
Agreed with everything except the last sentence. Hazard didn't exist apparently 😅
he doesnt step up when it matters. Costed inter milan the Europa League with the own goal and the Champions league with his ineptitude
He could have gone on to be a bigger star, he just though he was world class too soon.
No matter what happens to him on the pitch, i still like Lukaku ngl
Do a video on Sancho's situation please
now with the game is over, we know the answer
12:57 I think you meant the 2022 world cup.
Lukaka the most complete striker
he’s the modern era of a player who’s stats look good on paper but in big games and all around he seems to be a different player
He's not mediocre
As an Inter fan, my opinion on Lukaku is as follows:
Under Conte he was, without a doubt, one of the best strikers in the world.
7:30 hahah u slaughtered him
U cant deny hes a great with those numbers. Racism clouds the eyes of a lot of his haters…
Lukaku is Belgian version of Vieri. All left footed and no right foot what so ever. If Lukaku actually learned how to use his right foot. He would've been a world class player. The same could've been said for Vieri. modern day foot your striker has to be able to use booth feet for at least passing.
