- This is my 70 Cutlass it is a work in progress. It originally had the 350 rocket, I came across a 70 Cutlass S with the 455 rocket and switched the motors. I had the 455 completely rebuilt before putting it in. I put it on here to show whats been done so far. Thanks for looking. Dang that was awesome. I wish more classic car owners made videos like this. Reminds me of being a kid again. I almost could smell the interior.
This is one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen.
Damn, that mill sounds awesome. Great mufflers. I can hear that massive torque. Nice clean old car. Must have some serious top end with that highway gear. While so many people do Chevy/Ford/Mopar, it's cool to see there's still some people who dig the less popular brands like Olds, Buick and Pontiac.
Man that startup and idle is glorious! What a sound on the pedal too!
When you knew in your heart it's gonna start.
I love the Oldsmobile cutlass 455 ,I owned at least 10 of them when I was younger ,I loved all of them 😎, thanks for the video it brought me back 😃
now that's some serious power i'd love to have that car it would make a nice lawn ornament i couldn't afford to drive it lol
My 70' olds has 455 with 6" exhaust turn downs at the driver seat an man that thing is nasty sounding. 455's over the 350 rocket any day
That's a real badass American Muscle.
Absolutely effortless,that's low end torque!
Man alive! Thanks for the burnout and the sound of that engine! Made this old man's day right there... I gotta get me one of these.
Fun burnout. Damn near picture perfect, even without a locker.
yes I do still have the original TH350 trans. I did rebuild it and put a shift kit in it. Thanks for the info. I checked out youer cutlass. Nice car sounds good.
The fact that this was done with probably the factory 2.56 or 2.73 gears hows how much torque is on hand with any big-block. Small-blocks are nice if you like using the easy button or like to rev 'em but big-blocks are where the torque is.
Aww man! I wish i couldve taken that '70 cutlass s 455, that is exactly what im looking for!
See one thing about me an a 1970 oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme is that I am a Old School Player.
Nice Car! Needs a posi ....That 455 torque monster will cook that one tire in an instant!
hell yeah i love the video man. i got a 1970 cutlass supreme convertable. its been sitting in my negibors barn ive been dieing to restore it. just dont have the time :/
Thanks for sharing, 3.90s the freeway must be fun. no one should be able to touch you at the stoplight drags. My C/S has a 455 with 268 comp cam, Edelbrock dual plane intake, dual exhaust manifolds, 2.5 Flowmaster full exhaust with X pipe, and highway gears(2.70 somethings). It is quick and fast as hell. are you sure your car is not a Supreme SX? I noticed the bumper cutouts.
Love it- I can smell the rubber !
Heh, heh, awesome. If my mom had only known what I did in her Cutlass when I borrowed it on Saturday nights back in high school. Her Olds had the rocket 350 but it could still really scoot!
Nice car. I bought my '70 Cutlass Supreme a few weeks ago, I have a bit of work to do to even get it half way close to what your's looks and sounds like. Thanks for sharing!
@17VINCE I found a posi rear for the car. I had it rebulit and put 390 richmond gears in it. Now i got a lot of wheel hop. I put ajustable arms on it. Still has the hop.
man this video never gets old haha,i love the burnout peg leg or not,its still jus great to hear that 455 screamin
Yessssss! That was a great video
Love it but weld that rearend into a posi !!
sounds awsome i had a regal with a 455
good grief man that thing is fricken nasty! great car and a boatload of power w2g man! thats real muscle!
Luv it
That was one sweet burnout
But only a one wheel peel!
I love doing burnouts like that only longer with our van
Thats MAGNIFICENT car. I like the 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass coupe more though...
idk if you just wanna keep everything oldsmobile, but all GM A and G bodys have compatible rear axles. plus you can find easy to modify posi rearends in z28 camaros, formulas, GM full size cars, Vans, and Trucks. thats what im doing on my skylark.
One wheel peel :) Nice car though I have one very similar that I inherited from my father. It still has the 350 I am doing a little of this and a little of that to
!969 I lost my Car to Hurricane Camille, I ordered a new sleeper, a 1970 Cutlass Supreme, 455 with W30 package 365 horsepower (but most suspected the factory specs were way wrong, Much more than that) ), 550 foot pounds of torque, It had an automatic, posi rear end with tall 2.73 gears. Red line F70 14 tires on factory rally sport wheels. So easy to smoke those small good year tires. Stomping the throttle hard any where below 90 produced massive wheel spin. What a sleeper, Surprised many!
definetly in pa. I live in pa. and my streets all look exactly the same... lol...
Thanks for the info. I found a posi rear out of a 70 442 it's a 12 bolt with 390 gears. When the weather gets better a will post a new video. I also added a w27 ram air hood to the car to.
what kind of exhaust are you running on there?..
@BLACKOPSIII that's a good set up on your 455,i was wanting to do the same thing to my SX except i want 3 inch pipes, how good does that set up work on your engine and what kind of intake do you think is best for 455,victor performer or torker series??..thanks
@mnauto455 thats great!!..i gotta find one for mine, any vids of the new rear end being posted in the future?
let me guess 50 series flowmasters? doesn't quite sound loud enough to be 40 or 44s
fellow Olds fanatic...
@17VINCE, My set up works great on the street, as far as intakes go , I like the dual plane intake for more mild engine's, but if you have headers and big exhaust the single plane intake will not hurt at all. the center divider on my dual plane intake was milled down, and my exhaust manifolds were extrude honed, I bought them off of a guy who took them off of his 10 second car, to put on single plane intake and headers, to get into the low nines. i know I'm long winded, sorry.
Man when it burnouts, it squeaks.
I love my sound of Mopar starters. But I also like when a GM starter does that sound as well. Although it most likely means: its a tad off time.
alacyk *WHO ARE YOU*?
not a show car those cars are beautiful in my opinion
nice car man, i have a 72. its going to be my daily driver, have to get a job to pay for gas though. would love to put a 455 in her but gas would be to high. love the car man
One wheel wonder gutlass
Guess I should have read your video description before asking if it was an SX, oh well no harm, spun the bearings in my 455.
I have put a posi in the car since this video was made. I had a real hard time finding one. but it is a12 bolt posi with 390 gears will be posting a new video soon.
are those delta flow 40 series of super 44??
OLD'S POWER! BAD AZZ
Absolutely love your car she's beautiful and looks so mean and fast how much are you selling it I'll buy it I live in Phoenix Arizona please let me know how much thank you sir
Nice car. Got a cutlass myself but u have to get posi trac
I wish I could've bought a car when I was 12, but I would have gotten a Cutlass first.
Just picked up same engine
@BLACKOPSIII haha no apologies,i like the detail and need the detail u knw..i jus dont want to go too big on the intake and actually lose power..as of now all i have is the 268 cam and milled heads,im planning on puttin a new edelbrock 750 carb,3 inch exhaust with long tube headers and pypes mufflers, and maybe a torker intake not sure yet..but thanks for the info, much appreciated..feel free to check out my vids on my cutlass SX..
oh wow,i love it dude haha..nice ride,i got an olds 71 cutlass sx being rebuilt rite now..i'll be sure to post a vid soon..if im not mistaking, are those flowmasters youre running on that beast?..
@BLACKOPSIII Thanks. Yea the freeway is tuff with the 390s . No it is not an SX I put the 455 in it. the car was a 350 car. I got the bumper when I got the exhaust done.
What? Where is the other tire mark? This thing does NOT have POSI?
No posi?
"She's a rocket."
im sure it can be done,umm..try searching jegs or summit racing for posi rear end parts..i also heard theres a simple easy way to make the rear a posi,i have seen some people jus weld the spools in the rear end together, seeing as posi traction rear end is simple jus a straight axle..and thanks,i was wanting to put a flowmaster system on my olds which is really close to being finished..
if u gotta 455 big block wouldnt u wanna put a posi in there so u dont fry only 1 tire?? im just sayin!!??
1:57 - 2:02 To quote The Mask: "SSSSMOKIN!!!"
It is like i said it is work in progess. I am having a rear built. I will post a new video after it is in. hopefully in a few weeks.
it is flowmaster system. I am still tryin to find a posi rear for it but can not. I wanted to build my rear posi it is a 12 bolt o. My mechanic told me he it can not be done.
Had a 1972 with a 455. rear tires didnt last very long.
I have a 1970 cutlass coupe with a 350. Is the olds cutlass considered a big block?
350s are small blocks
+Ric Baez Chevy 350s yea for sure but I heard the olds 350s are considered big blocks and figured I might receive an answer from a fellow cutlass owner.. Btw u probably already know this but back in the day company's like Buick, olds, Pontiac made their own engines. Chevy didn't.. That is why they are different and one of the reasons people ask if they're big blocks or not. I've heard that they are but some guys don't think 350 big blocks exist.. Like u.
+vargasyabish Chevy didn't make the engines for them is what I meant.
+vargasyabish I believe the 400 was the only engine you could get in either a small or big block.
the 350 is a big block.
@17VINCE Yea as soon as i get rid of that wheel hop i will post a new video of the posi.
@Lockemeister No I don't have line lock's on it. It is north east PA. lol. I put a posi rear in it with 390 gears now. I had the timing to far out thats why it started slow.
I was gonna say your too far advanced also make sure your weights and springs are all in good working order and even curve it for faster all in a lower compression stock motor can handle that well and likes it all in early
mnauto455 do you still have the original TH350 transmission behind that torque monster? If so get a shift kit installed it will save your transmission from that 455's monster torque. 400ft lb is max torque for a stock Turbo 350. Your transmission will will last longer and save you from burning up that wear stock 3rd gear clutch that TH350's are known for. I've got a 70' also up on RUclips with a matching 350 Rocket 2.56 gears.
One wheel grab, but a beautiful car nonetheless.
OMFG dude.
My car in this video is 3 speed auto but they did come stock with 4 speed stick to usually in the 442.
I'm watching this because my childhood girlfriend's dad is letting me buy his.
Sounds like you need a starter. My Vista does the same thing.
@17VINCE hey I put a new video up with the posi rear put in it and the new hood! Check it out.
Bet this guy doesn't have Root insurance.
Nice Olds do you belong to a club?
@mnauto455 hey there i posted an updated video of my cutlass with the new cam, check out the choppy tunes the 455 makes now..
The Cutlass S is a bit lighter than this.
Why does this car look like it has a 350 in it and also performs like a 350? Why would anybody put 3;90 gears in with a big block? Nice car but I doubt things about it.
I mean it is not in show condition yet.
when i was 12 i bought a 77 corvette it's total junk. when i was 15 i bought a 1970 cutlass s in great condition (considering its 40 years old) so i think i'll make the vette a drag car.
give her ,, yeah ha
no i do not. I should though since i have a 68 70 and a 71 cutlass.
I used to do burnouts with an '68 Olds 98 with a 455, but I didn't use line lock like you seemed to use with the front wheels.
this looks like North East PA for some reason.
If your engine turns over slow like that when it's hot, you might like to consider a high torque starter motor. Maybe the battery is not up to snuff. The 455 is hard to crank when hot. At least the ones I had were.
They needed both, the largest battery possible AND the high torque starter motor.
Turn your timing back a few notches or buy better gas lol
@mnauto455 alrighty!..check my page soon,i will be posting a new video of my 71 cutlass sx...it looks nice
Mhmmmmmm.
I miss my 1970 Chevelle SS 454 four barrel carb my car is extremely fast but I don't own it no more because I moved from Minnesota back to Arizona because my brother was stupid with me I don't like my brother Wayne Thomas Hunan he tried to kill me in Minnesota because I was having problems with family issues my brother was going to put me on a boat and shoot me when I was with him on the boat it was planned that's why I moved I hate my brother
timings to far ahead
too much initial timing
