Thanks for that Iona. I’m playing my captains prize on Sunday so I’ll be sure to remember to move balls from behind trees or the rough out on to the fairway, think I have a real chance now with these new rules 😅😊
Such a great point. I tell friends I golf with that are average golfer. Unless tournament or playing for money or maybe not in a rush. Don’t play the hero shot from behind a tree up against the lip etc. drop it close by where you have a shot. Golf should be fun. Don’t make harder than needed. Sometimes the foot wedge is the only club.
Love watching ALL of your drops!!! I’ve 3 Clemson TIGER Gals playing in the R&A Women’s Amateur as I type . . . One, Annabelle Pancake, was in last year’s FINALS. The other two, Sydney Roberts and Isabella Rawl are making their initial plunge into UK Golf. If you’re in the area, introduce yourself and as your departing words simply say, “Go TIGERS!” to make their Day!!! I would love to see some collaborations with “Uni” Golfers on your Channel . . . just a thought. Again, Thank You for sharing your thoughts with us!!!
The best advice I think I could give a newbie golfer is to start on the putting green! Don’t go anywhere near a driving range for the first couple of months….just learn how to putt, then get someone to show you how to do little bump and run chips and gradually build up a short game. The confidence that comes from that will help you to start hitting mid and longer irons….and eventually the woods.
Brilliant insights -- useful for ANY golfer -- just another example of why I say Iona is the most valuable presenter on RUclips.

No 5 For every shot you play, always have an excuse ready
Great insights. I have nurtured several rookies and getting them to relax and enjoy is number 1.
You Iona are awesome.
Love the videos all coool
Nice. Hadn't heard the distance from the ball thing before. Gonna give it a go. Gratius.

Great advice Iona
Top tip given to the comedian Frank Carson during a lesson from his pro, “Frank, take a two week break from golf, then give up the game completely”
I’d like to begin a golf journey with you, Iona! 😊
Payne Stewart says top of the knee for spacing, different for different clubs?
Not something I'd thought about before now. Just checked with my 8i, just over half way up the thigh for me.
Suspect Payne was a bit taller than Iona.
@@baccattack I'm 5'6", works for me on all irons
Thanks Iona 🏴 ⛳ 🏌️ 💖

I always liked - Dont over complicate things. See ball hit ball and be happy with the outcome.
It might not be long but it ain't wrong.
