  • It's been almost two decades since fox hunting was banned in the UK. But footage shared exclusively with this programme shows how it continues across our countryside. What we are about to show you has led to the sports' governing body suspending those involved from further hunts.
    And a warning: this report contains distressing images from the start.

    As someone who has lived in the countryside all my life (26), has friends who mock/drag hunt, a partner who mock/drag hunts, this is absolutely terrible and illegal behaviour from this group. There is absolutely no reason for it, and only goes to highlight how little the police are focussed on actual rural crime, let alone giving the countryside an awful image.
    This is clearly a crime, rural or not, and a horrific act committed against an animal. If farmers are truly ‘stewards of the land’ as they so often like to call themselves, and want the police to protect their vehicles and gps and livestock, they urgently need to disassociate themselves from groups like this.
    Where I live a fox was ripped apart on our village high street in 2022, in front of the village shop, next door to a cafe and over the road from a children’s hair salon. Guess what - a local rural crimes police officer was in their group. This is sadly systemic, and an overt breach of the law.

      @@chrysalis4126 Pull the other one. Anyone familiar with dogs can see that those animals are habituated to killing. This is plainly not instinct alone, they are anticipating the kill before it even happens because they have engaged in it many times before. This is normal to them. Besides, if they are such uncontrollable killing machines then they can't possibly be suitable for faux-hunting, as per the law. I think that you know perfectly well that these hounds are routinely engaged in hunting, as does anyone watching this video. This hunt is using drag hunting as a smokescreen for their sole real purpose; killing foxes with dogs. You know it, I know it and clearly the dogs know it, so let's not pretend otherwise.

    What I simply don’t understand (as an equestrian myself), is that those of us who are lucky enough to have horses and/or ride them, have at some level a LOVE and CARE for animals. To outwardly pursue an animal to rip it to shreds with your OWN animals is unbelievable, and quite frankly, unfathomable if you have a true love of them.
    I have nothing wrong against DRAG hunts (where an artificial scent is followed), as they can be a fantastic outing for all and for spectators. But to pursue a live animal is barbaric. I would put into question the knowing horse owners capability to look after their own animals if they can behave in a manner like that.

    There is nothing sporting about turning a pack of hounds out on a deer ( as they are used for here in the US, a fox, or any hunted animal. This isn't hunting. Hunting is a man, or group of men or women setting out, on foot, tracking and hunting an animal. It requires much skill and even more patience. Using dogs to track, catch, and /or kill the game is the dogs hunting while the human waits for it. It's is inhumane for the game, and from what I have seen even worse for the dogs, as most of them live in small kennels, walking around in their own feces, and fed "lightly", because a well fed dog has no reason to hunt.

    I thought Hounds were supposed to track, not hunt? My Foxhound doesn’t have a malicious bone in his body. His tracking skills are unmatched and he just howls when he finds something. I don’t hunt, so I’m just letting him do what comes naturally to him. These people are despicable. Foxes are very curious and beneficial creatures. I love to see them, because I know we’ll have less ground hogs on our farm. Just shows it’s not the dogs, but the owners.

    • @VK-qe7if
      @VK-qe7if 3 месяца назад

      But your dog isn't an English fox hound. They are bred specifically to run in packs and chase foxes and sadly kill them. Their breeding goes back as far as the 13th century. Their forebears include Bloodhound, Greyhound, Bull dog and Fox Terrier.

    • @lordchaa1598
      @lordchaa1598 3 месяца назад

      @@VK-qe7if , he was rescued from a fox hunting operation. Look at the profile pic and tell me that’s not an English foxhound. He didn’t have the pack mentality so they just left him in a cage for 8 years. They don’t allow the packs to kill the foxes here in the states. Dogs are bread for tracking and mild temperaments. They wouldn’t be allowed to be let loose on the community for the annual fox hunt if they were vicious killers. They run past streets lined with kids on there way to the fields. It’s a choice, you Brit’s have just chosen the wrong breeding stock and have perpetuated this cycle. Our dogs are from the same stock brought here by lord Baltimore back in the late 1600’s. The breeders here wanted in tact pelts for hats and clothes, so they breed their dogs to track, but not kill. A farm in a neighboring state were caught grinding the teeth of their hounds down with a file when they were to aggressive.

    I have every respect for the police but unfortunately when it comes to illegal hunting the police have openly supported the hunt. Often the hunts boasts senior police officers among its membership who offers, what appears in many cases, police protection for the hunt. So many videos which are circulating on social media support this belief. The police need to get back to upholding the law and prosecuting offenders. We also need a rethink on sentencing as currently the sentencing available to the courts amount to little more than a slap on the wrist.
