OH SHIT! So after watching it a few times, I noticed what was going on. The first time he turned back time, on the wall of clocks all of them were spinning, except for one. Then the red guy wiped it with blood. Then, at 2:35, it shows all the clocks with a picture of how she died on each one. At 2:49 all the clocks are covered in blood and have stopped. Then we see there is one left which hasn't stopped. I guess he had a limited amount of chances to save her, and its impossible for her to live. He used the last chance to save her by sacrificing himself to save her. Then, the whole time reversal thing starts again with the girl after he died. She uses up all her chances too to save him, until she has one left. She breaks it to use it, and the last scene with her in her bed crying is her last chance. Fucking amazing story and song to go along with it, and really left me in a weird mood...
i would love it if that was the actual story here, because then i could stop being confused still after watching this like 50 times by now. however, the song makes it clear that the cycle is endless. the scene never pans out to cover the entire wall of clocks, so there might very well be an infinite number of clocks. i think what happened is that the girl was originally the one trapped in the loop, or it is happening to both of them simultaneously, because she smiled when she got skewered by poles. in every universe or dimension or whatever, both of them get trapped in the loop, and whoever dies first has to go through that hell until they end it by dying. it is a horribly depressing song when you think about it, because it doesn't look like there is any way to end it for either of them. every alternate reality begins with one sacrificing their self for other, and thereby creates more and more loops.
Our teacher showed us this in Japanese class. Everyone complained about the gore while I sat enjoying the video and knowing the next anime/vocaloid song series I would watch XD

In the anime, the cat actually looks like it would be Azami. It follows them everywhere as Hiyori dies, as if Azami watching the Daze, and it has red and yellow eyes. At the end, when Hibiya dies, he says "Screw you cat.". I'd probably do the same.
About Kano being the cat is still just a theory. The song, light novel, manga, and anime never confirmed that he's the cat. But the silhouette of the cat in the fourth episode does make a strange shape hoodie-like.

if you pay attention to the anime, the cat is CAUSING them to die. It is obviously controlled by one of the snakes. Also, if you look at konoha's state of the world, he is chasing after them, not running in front of them. Also, in the anime, it says he was simply looking for them, then saw them being kidnapped, tried to save them, got hit by a speeding truck. You have no idea what you are talking about.

This is probably one of my favorite nico chorus songs. The way they all sang it when put together is dramatic especially when Miku joins in near the end and there are dialogues. The rap being catchy is a plus, too.

If I may clarify, based on the video what I've read in the comments, and my friend's explanation, my theory is that both Hiyori and Hibiya are stuck in a Time Loop called Heat Haze. Basically, Hibiya and Hiyori are both experiencing different events. This video show's Hibiya's perspective where Hiyori is the one dying, but when he gets hit by the truck in the end instead of Hiyori, he saw her Kagerou (I don't know what those Red Hibiya and Blue Hiyori things are called). This small little detail plus her waking up crying shows that she was seeing him die while he was seeing her die. Another piece of evidence is that when Hibiya stopped her from getting hit is how she looked and how fast she jumped in front of him so the iron poles hit her instead of him, she didn't want to see him die so she thought if she dies the loop will end when in all reality, nothing could make the loop end. Another minor piece of evidence is how she says "I've failed this time, too" at the end, this should give the idea that all this time she was trying to stop him from dying after she saw him die. Lets not forget about the cat though, this time loop could also represent all the possibilities of someone dying, specifically Hibiya and Hiyori. When the cat runs away and Hiyori runs after it, she gets hit by a truck, but if Hibiya runs after the cat or moves her out of the way he gets hit. Another possibility is that if neither of them runs after the cat one of them gets impaled by the iron poles. As stated before this is JUST a theory, I'm not saying this is what ultimately happened, this is just what I've gathered. Feel free to correct me if I left anything out or if I said something wrong or false.
The anime felt alright all the way up to that last episode. Now that was rushed; it was all building up to some kind of fight or something but then they just finished off with "the power of friendship!!!". They didn't even finish with finding Hibiya or whatever her name was.
I DON'T WANT TO CHANGE MY NAME, GOOGLE I think the worst anime episode to happen would be ep 9, Ayano's Theory of Happiness. Actually, everything except the start of the episode was good IMO.

In the anime, the cat actually looks like it would be Azami. It follows them everywhere as Hiyori dies, as if Azami watching the Daze, and it has red and yellow eyes. At the end, when Hibiya dies, he says "Screw you cat.". I'd probably do the same.

Did you watch 5th (or 6th?) episode of the anime, when Konoha, Hiyori and Hibiya had an accident? After that, serpent suddenly appeared and took them ALL THREE OF THEM to the never-ending world.

if you pay attention to the anime, the cat is CAUSING them to die. It is obviously controlled by one of the snakes. Also, if you look at konoha's state of the world, he is chasing after them, not running in front of them. Also, in the anime, it says he was simply looking for them, then saw them being kidnapped, tried to save them, got hit by a speeding truck. You have no idea what you are talking about.

If I may clarify, based on the video what I've read in the comments, and my friend's explanation, my theory is that both Hiyori and Hibiya are stuck in a Time Loop called Heat Haze. Basically, Hibiya and Hiyori are both experiencing different events. This video show's Hibiya's perspective where Hiyori is the one dying, but when he gets hit by the truck in the end instead of Hiyori, he saw her Kagerou (I don't know what those Red Hibiya and Blue Hiyori things are called). This small little detail plus her waking up crying shows that she was seeing him die while he was seeing her die. Another piece of evidence is that when Hibiya stopped her from getting hit is how she looked and how fast she jumped in front of him so the iron poles hit her instead of him, she didn't want to see him die so she thought if she dies the loop will end when in all reality, nothing could make the loop end. Another minor piece of evidence is how she says "I've failed this time, too" at the end, this should give the idea that all this time she was trying to stop him from dying after she saw him die. Lets not forget about the cat though, this time loop could also represent all the possibilities of someone dying, specifically Hibiya and Hiyori. When the cat runs away and Hiyori runs after it, she gets hit by a truck, but if Hibiya runs after the cat or moves her out of the way he gets hit. Another possibility is that if neither of them runs after the cat one of them gets impaled by the iron poles. As stated before this is JUST a theory, I'm not saying this is what ultimately happened, this is just what I've gathered. Feel free to correct me if I left anything out or if I said something wrong or false.
To be honest this is better than the anime it was really rushed and didn't make much sense but I like the music and the characters

The anime felt alright all the way up to that last episode. Now that was rushed; it was all building up to some kind of fight or something but then they just finished off with "the power of friendship!!!". They didn't even finish with finding Hibiya or whatever her name was.
I DON'T WANT TO CHANGE MY NAME, GOOGLE I think the worst anime episode to happen would be ep 9, Ayano's Theory of Happiness. Actually, everything except the start of the episode was good IMO.

That's some really powerful stuff, I nearly cried while watching this and I've seen other versions of this several times before.
Listening to this gives me a sigh of content. I love how it's as if a chorus of fifty people got together and said, "Hey, let's sing about a fictional suspense manga that highlights the vicious cycle of freak accidents that results in death, which leaves the survivor changed forever.. but at the end, let's sing about how someone broke the cycle."
