chenle and haechan (the two you pointed out) are some of my favourite vocalists in all of kpop! along with doyoung from 127 i think they make up the top three vocalists in nct as a whole. chenle especially is an absolutely insane performer live. theres a joke within the fandom that seeing him live will wreck your bias list
they have grown so much from debut and even since this video they have grown vocally. nct dream is a group where you can see that they genuinely love performing and making music so that translates very well into the music that they put out. haechan who is on the far right in this killing voice and the one with the pink hair in the 127 killing voice has such a unique tone that i can immediately tell when he is singing. i just love his voice, there are no other words lol.

Therefore, I think SM Entertainment was pretty clever to create this sub-unit as a way to catch the attention of a younger demographic. Why not market music to a younger audience? I think it's kind of refreshing that SM decided to start NCT-Dream out with more of a family-friendly concept because all the members were actually still children. Yes, all SM groups and artists are amazing vocalists, because SM is considered the vocal powerhouse of the Kpop industry and all of its artists get intense vocal training, even the company's rappers. SM specifically focuses on finding and creating the best vocalists possible. Therefore, if they are from SM Entertainment then you should expect out of this world vocal abilities from everyone in the group, and songs that showcase each members' voice. SM is also reconized for their harmonies and when the company puts together a group, harmonies are a big part of what the group is designed around. SM literally has some of the top vocalists in all of Kpop, and all of SM's trainees know if they want to even have a chance of debuting they need to focus a lot on developing their voices in order to be able to match the specific vocal style of SM's songs. SM trainees have vocal tests every week and they have to show that they are improving and mastering the vocal skills expected of them in order to continue as a trainee. Killing Voice has really been designed as the perfect showcase for SM artists.

It’s also one of my favourite songs.
