Two Year old Video still helping understand these amazing cars like myself. Thank you Man you are like a WRX and STI Human Bible in my Book. Keep them coming with great content.
This was helpful. I ran a Subaru performance parts business for a several years before and after WRX came out (until 15 years ago), and back then with stage 1 mods a tune was not mandatory (but with WRX intake a tune is mandatory). So it was usually tuning the ECU with more boost and catback exhaust. Stage II was stage I + any extra bolt-on mods including intake, BOV, J-pipe (aka down-pipe), EGR delete, and maybe bigger injectors (sometimes a slightly bigger intercooler or turbo like a VF-22). Stage III was usually stage I and II + functional engine mods like pistons, valves, cams, heads, crank, fuel rails, gear sets, and even bigger turbos and intercoolers. I had a 500+ HP 2000 Impreza RS with aftermarket turbo kit and high power gear set - at 1st my stage 1 kit had an intercooler unlike other stage 1 kits, but it used a rising rate fuel pressure regulator instead of a tune. My stage II required a separate ECU to run extra fuel injectors + high power gear set, and stage III was a fully blueprinted motor with upgraded turbo, AW IC, and fuel system.
Thanks for the information I was very confused now I get it just got mine on Monday lots of fun bought the automatic because I'm an old guy with a bum knee
I bought a 2016 wrx limited cvt brand new and loved the car. I put 80k miles on it in 4 years. I just traded it in for an STI limited and now I fell in love all over again. 😁
@@brendandyer3579 my friends own STIs and it pushes you back pretty damn well. I drove a cvt but not for long. I did notice some push but I didn't really push down on the pedal much. I'm excited since I'm getting one ( 2016 CVT ) shipped soon. I just fell in love with how it drove.
Awesome video! Very informative. I've recently got past the break-in period of '19 WRX and when I have been doing pulls it seems to me that the car is pretty random with how quickly it accelerates in between modes.. Like what you mentioned about how the lag is noticeable on Sport Mode and it's gone on S#, I usually get the opposite feeling sometimes. I read that the car doesn't really have a lot of low end power (even in manual) but that confuses me if our peak torque starts at 2k rpm?? I'm not sure if it's just how the CVT works (since it is my first CVT), but that half second or so delay on throttle response from stop is kind of annoying sometimes.
Great info! Just got a cert pre owned 17 wrx with 16k miles. Loving everything about it especially playing around in the sweet spot range in manual sports/sports# mode. Is the catback exhaust really worth it seeing it’s the only real mod I can do without possibly voiding warranty?
thank you for make great content on cvt wrx . may i ask you something? i'm consider on buying this but most of subie in my country said the break pedal very heavy to press [it has a joke like if you want to stop this effiecient you must stomp on the pedal like you found out your wife cheating on you:D] . any advice on this? thank you
Good video as usual; do you have any more information on the last thing you mentioned about scoring the CVT if you drive aggressively in manual mode exclusively? Also, have you gone stage 2 with your car yet? I just ordered a bunch of parts in prep for a stage 2 tune, and was looking to get more feedback from others who have gone ahead and taken the plunge.
Hi! Been following your channel since a while now. I'm becoming interested in a cvt wrx for work (I drive about 100-200 miles a day). What is your current mileage in your wrx and how is it holding? Thanks!!
Anyone else get a slight jerk or “hiccup” in the Cvt when coasting and letting off the gas occasionally? Nothing crazy but concerning. 34k miles 2020 WRX Cvt.

Best wrx cvt content our there!Really appreciate the vids you make it helps me out a lot. Are we gonna get an aftermarket bpv install sometime soon?
Boost & Shutter hope you do man! Looking forward to it I’m gonna be installing a trans cooler bpv and new intake sometime before the end of this year
@@akqjtn you won't regret it, it sounds amazing on wrx cvt

Does the turbo push you back in your seat?
In the STI absolutely. The CVT WRX has some excitement to it. It’s enough to have fun but it’s not as crazy as the manual

Good content. Always appreciate the vids, quite informative without the bs. I have a manual 2018 WRX but still interesting to learn.

Will an aftermarket bpv void your warranty?

I have a 15 CVT the first year with 242,000 miles 🙌

I leave mine in sport and then sharp on the freeway
Another great video, thanks for making it.

B and S I saw your video about taking the CVT to stage 2, did you ever end up doing it?

Any idea with code p2401?
