The more I watch Bruce and his band, the more I get this sense of purpose about him. Like he made his career work through sheer will and the tremendous amount of work it takes. I think whatever path he chose would have been just as successful. Hope we see him on stage soon. Also, a timely song.☝️

When "Darkness" came out, Columbia lead with "Prove it All Night" as the 1st single. Back then, individual radio stations & even d's could play what they wanted. Where I lived the dj's at the station that played this type of music skipped straight to "Promised Land." They gave "Prove it" the required rotation play, but "Promised Land" got more. And lemme tell ya, 17 year old me would hear this song and get so PUMPED. Just sit and feel every muscle tighten, the hairs stand up on my arms & the back of my neck. And it would just go on and on until I wanted to punch some well-deserving jerk in the mouth and beat my forehead repeatedly against a brick wall. Really HARD. Well, here we are 40+ years later and I'm 59 years old and I just listened to this & I literally just got done beating my head against the wall of my apartment. Really HARD. Nothing's changed. Thank you, Mr. Springsteen, for this one. This one's a keeper.

the best live performer, the best pop/rock entertainer in music history !! the energy he has, the way he works the crowd, the way he shows the brotherhood of the band, the purpose he has, it´s pure magic !! he doesn´t need special effects on stage, he is his own best special effect !! he makes you feels so much alive !! nobody else can pull that off !! unbelievable !!
Great song. Twenty-five years ago I spent three months out of the country and out of touch with the wider world. I got home in time for a 4th of July game at my local minor league club. They had a fire works show they began with this song. It was a lovely warm California night, watching a ball game and fireworks with my family. A great night made better by Springsteen's music. One of the hardest working performers in the business, and one of the greatest performers.

I was at gig with her one night and someone approached her and asked her if she wanted to go backstage during the gig! Before we could say Diane go! She told them I'm already were i want to be! No thanks! I miss her so bad! shes's gone about 3yrs! They tell me it gets better with time! I'm still waiting!!! RIP Dee-Dee
