Had some people saying you can get by with 1 scout in USA West/East and use the 2 extra scouts to cover a couple extra Euro leagues. This is an option too! I just have a lot more luck finding steals on US players I find
At the beginning you said to fire all pro scouts if you have fog of war turned off. What about trying to work around a coaches scheme fit? Do you worry about that at all?
Not really. I'm not sure how much it matters, I personally just wanna build a team my way, not based off of some made up coach that isn't even real haha@@flippergoalie
I have a few points from my experience: -you usually don’t need more than one scout per USA region because for some reason there’s actually not that many US players. This frees up a few spots for some of the miscellaneous European and Nordic leagues which can allow you to cover a greater area -each summer there’s usually some A-B level free agents. Definitely fire your C scouts and hire them. Even if they are terrible in whatever region you put them in, it only takes like maximum 2 years for them to be A level in the region you put them in. So if you need a scout for the SHL and there’s one A level scout in free agency but he’s E region accuracy in SHL, still take him. It is worth the one or two years that he is less accurate for in the long run because if you do this every summer for the first 5 or so years, you basically end up building an entire A level scouting staff with A+ in their region. The overall is way more important than the region is. -every time the “central scouting has released their update” thing comes out, go in and sort by potential and then res out all the guys who could be medium elite, low elite, medium top 6. It will find you so many guaranteed players, and your scouts will still autoscout other players as well. I have done this and I usually find like minimum 3 medium elites per draft and I’ve built multiple 60 and even 70 win dynasties because of it even with salary cap on
Yeah the thing is, the EA playoff simulation sometimes screws you over no matter what team you have. Like how tf did I win in an 84 overall team and lose with a 94 overall team.
Really good points! Ya you could definitely take 1 from USA East/West and put them in like National League and Allvenskan. I seem to find more US late round steals though for whatever reason. I'll have to play around with it to optimize
Also keep in mind the scouting stats. A scout that has B or higher in Discovery and Efficiency is better than just a A+ in the region as they scout quicker and more accurately than others. @@TacTixHD
After I hire a scout, I just let them do their own thing in that region? Or do I have to make them find prospects? I usually make them scout specific players but that takes too long.
every scouting video people say you don't need NHL pro scouts at all, but if you take your team building seriously enough, then it's great to have at least 1 Pro scout you can move around, to check line fits before making big trades or hiring a player. Because you can get inaccurate line fits or no info and hire a big name player and his chemistry is trash on the line you wanted them for, and you end up unrealistically trading them for someone else, hurting your team chemistry and other nonsense.
Scouts do retire when they get around 60-70. After one season around 2034 I was missing two scouts all of a sudden when I checked during the resign period.
I also check every 3 bar medium elite/low elite/top 6/top 4 for their draft grades and possible X factors. Usually players that have higher grades, lower years out and x factors even if they aren't completely scouted will be higher potential and you can get some real steals especially in the second round. For my scouting I do 2x CHL, 1xUSA except 2 in central, 2xrussia, all nordic with x2 in SHL and 1x all europe. That way you don't miss leagues. I also check to see if their are leagues with no players like the allsvenskan if so I'll move that scout over to another league.
I decided to play around a little last night after watching your video. Now I know you aren't a fan of coaches, which I quite like, but I'll digress until EA adds a Be A Coach mode were I can have full access of line schemes and player acquisition. I found a system that is working really well, simmed 12 seasons, and got quite a lot of hits and gems. W, O and Q all have 3 scouts, but one scout in each region has an A rating in a USA League. USA has 2 scouts, one to bounce between East and West and 1 to stay in the central. As seen above, those Canadian Scouts having an A- or better rating in a US league, allows me to move them from the CHL and fill in spots when there are heavy USA years (which happens for me once every three years or so) I have 5 scouts for the Nordic Leagues and Russia. Usually 1 of those 3 areas will have a really small pool of draftable players, and I use 1 scout there and 2 in each of the other two. I put two scouts in Europe and divide time between the DEL, NLA, and Extraliiga. Basically, I follow the 5 round draft formate, Playstyle, Str/Weak, Skills, and Potential/Comparisons, with the 5th round being a spot check. If you flip it around right, you'll uncover 99% of the players that will go in the draft and the potential of deeper players as well. If you're like me, and you really enjoy scouting the extra time it takes to set this up is amazingly fun a d rewarding. It also makes selecting your scouts a little more difficult, but super rewarding.
Another somewhat dangerous strategy is that the AI teams usually pick within the top 10 players on the board at the time. If you pick 50 and the guy you're after is projected to be picked 70th, you can trade down 10 spots and maybe pick up an extra late-round pick or an NHL active player to join your team the next season, if you trade spots with an AI team.
I can't believe how underwatched is Slovak U18 project which is basically the copy of NTDP. Belusko and Prokopovic are definitely draft candidates for 3rd and 4th round, yet for some reason they are considered 6th to 7th round.
Personally, I also like to check a scout's efficiency and/or discovery rating, too. I figure if they are above a C in either of those and A's in region familiarity, then they have to be decent.
I'd argue NLA is better than DEL but it might vary from season to season so if you can, get a scout that is good both in DEL and NLA so that you can switch them to where you think it will benefit you the most from the season to season.
i scout skills until they're full, then potential. though if you're just looking for later steals you could just go potential because their skills will be junk regardless.
I keep scouting on auto because I only draft players with pics lol. F the "Parts Unknown" shadow figures. This leaves me with 2-3 years of franchise which is unfortunate. I would honestly play further if the players had generated pics.
Hi, I'm having some trouble signing Seider and Raymond in my first offseason. I played all the games, even AHL. I've tried applying the 85% rule and have even rounded up to the next million. Morale for both are great. Seider wants 11.35 mil and Raymond wants 8.5. Any advice? I know I'm not gonna be able to sign everyone (Kane, Ghost, Perron and Veleno-wants 10.5 mil!), but I'm trying to save as much as I can to sign as many as possible. Thanks
Could play hard ball and try to sign beginning of next season but will only save money on a 1 year deal. Try and trade away some bad contracts like Justin Holl to save some money!
The scouting board is no stranger to me, I’ve spent over 75% of my franchise career’s on the scouting board over the years looking at draft eligible prospects and memorizing names Also Finally a vid comprising only scouting

Wish they'd (EA) quit with all these high potential/ NHL ready guys in rounds 2-3. It just doesn't happen in the real world. Most often the guys picked in the top 10 don't see the ice for a few years nevermind anyone else. They also need to re-program how/where goalies are taken. In real 'Elite' goalies are still taken in the first round e.g. Askarov/Wallstedt. Cossa went high even though he may not end up being elite.
It's very rare and they usually arent higher than like a 77 so still not making the team their draft year. But Draft +1 is reasonable for some players look at Poitras on Boston

You do know if you scout right you can reveal 95% of the entire draft class right? You will never get good results only scouting Potential no matter how good your scouts are. In my opinion it's actually too easy to scout and reveal almost the entire draft class. If you want the draft to be difficult and you want that rush of pulling a Med. Elite when they aren't fully revealed then yes... scout like this video says. Otherwise do it right and you will spend a fraction of the time scouting and in the draft itself. It may seem tedious to scout specific players but in the end you end up spending much more time doing it the other way.
@@TacTixHD If you just use autoscout then yes it's quicker since you aren't spending any time scouting but the end result with autoscout will be bad.
