The whole canoe section (starting with the look on your face when you saw the sign) is the best of the best of the best Disney moments I have ever witnessed!
I guess I am a sap, because this video touched me as well.
To me, the canoe cast members demonstrated perfectly the most important lesson that Disney parks teach us: that the difference between the everyday, and something a little better, is just a change in attitude.
A lesson for how we should approach daily life
The canoes being open and those sweet canoe cast members just felt like a special gift for you on a bit of a hard morning.

I went on the canoes in January and while I was the only English speaking paddler the cast still made me feel so welcome, but this experience is so special and magical. This was a genuine treat to experience vicariously through the video. Thanks for sharing.

I agree. Honestly, I’ve been in a weird mood today and when he started the video and looked kind of bummed out, I really felt that… Then when he was legitimately happy because of the canoes it put me in a good mood.

i agree......keep in mind the around the world trip that only got as far as disneyland paris.....hes finishing it going the other direction.....scouting ahead for when miles and amanda make the trip in the future.

Chris, I gotta tell you, there’s an aura of positive energy around you in all your videos. My dad passed away when I was 8 years old..and watching your videos are comforting. The last trip I took with my dad was in Disneyland in 1996. Now I go with my kids and husband and making new memories but never forgetting the ones I made with my dad. Leaving Disneyland is tough for me - watching your uplifting videos brings a little of the magic home, so thank you.

These cast member at the Canoes are so joyful it’s contagious. Love it.
I normally enjoy your vlogs but I found this one very hard to watch. Your were panning so quickly around, that it was hard to see areas, like Main Street etc. I’m visiting this park next February and was really looking forward to your take on it but I felt so much time as wasted on queuing with umbrellas, cracking the sads because you were homesick (it’s only be a few days) and canoes……… I want to see rides (or hear about the differences and wait times) and food, lots of food. Please tell us the ways you need to book shows, rides etc. make it informative like you normally do.

My first visit to DisneySea was after a snowstorm. Worst storm to hit Tokyo in 50 years. Snow was still on the ground although they cleared all the paths. Every ice cream bar cart was open even though they were getting zero business. Instead of standing there looking bored, each cast member was enthusiastically waving and greeting each guest.
Love the canoe crew! That was magical! Incredible cast members. Thank for bringing me along.

I don’t often comment on videos, but I felt compelled to comment on this one.
I’ve been having a hard time dealing with some big changes in my life recently, and watching your videos have been a great comfort for me.
The absolute joy you had on the canoes has made my week- seeing that you can be positive and full of happiness, especially in a day that started out not that great for you was so inspirational. It’s given me the permission to search for the light even in the darkest days, and for that I will forever thank you.
I hope one day we may be able to meet at Disneyland Paris, I’d love to record a famous Provost “Whaaaaat” with you.

I love how excited the canoes cast members were when you showed up! I teared up when you were reading the explanation of the garland you were given.
Canoes ARE a special attraction. Why? YOU as the guest have to make the attraction WORK. You also feel you made it work. That's the magic of it all. Every ride will be different also.
Chris!! I would be SO homesick so I totally understand some underlying sadness. You were such a trooper through all that rain!! SO grateful to be taken along on your day! I literally cried happy tears for you when you realized the canoes were there and running!!!! Seriously the Universe looking out for you for sure!!!
I’ve been to Tokyo Disney twice now and can’t stop going! The other parks just don’t compare. Your interaction at the canoes is 100% why I love Tokyo, the cast members!!! I love our American cast members but Tokyo takes it to another level. I love how they attempt to still interact, even if there is a language barrier. This video made my day!
TDL is definitely the cleanest, most well-maintained of all the Disney parks, but as you mentioned walking into Adventureland it’s a very open park. It was laid out to handle large crowds, especially during parades. Also, the railroad only has one stop because if it had two (or more) it would be categorized as a “transportation system” under Japanese law, and would therefore have to meet different regulations. It was easier just to keep it a “ride”.
The sound of the rain on the umbrella is so pleasant. Thank you for sharing the adventure.

omg Chris I live in Las Vegas and I've been sad too because my wife has been in Hawaii on her 4th week taking care of her dad who was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. I can't go to Hawaii because of work but your canoe ride just made my day!!! My wife is japanese and I love her culture! Enjoy your time there!
Just imagine your on a park wide water ride! Stay positive and enjoy your trip. missing loved ones is normal, at least it's the case for me, when you think "this is amazing" but also think you could have that moment with those you love. I really felt it when you asked your wife to join you, I know the feeling.😢

I miss Japan! I'm so sorry your family couldn't make these wonderful memories with you, but I'm so so happy you were able to experience genuine Japanese hospitality at that canoe ride. When my (to-be) wife and I connected and visited DL, we wanted to go on rides that we hadn’t experienced in our previous lives. On the short list, the Explorer Canoes rose to the top. It represents being in it together and having to do the hard work… to get home. Thank you for highlighting Canoes as an extra special attraction and giving it the attention it deserves!
Let me just say that the weather doesn’t matter… The CAST MEMBERS are always sunny in Tokyo! Lol, yes, the canoes rocked. You just have to find joy where it is. On my last project there it rained several afternoons in a row. Everyone is so used to it there we just went on as long as it was safe, then went inside for a while then got back to work! In the US parks, you have to have a free zone a certain radius from the guests to make sure they can’t touch anything on each attraction. In Tokyo, that radius is increased about 1 meter due to so many people carrying umbrellas with them so much. No matter what, they r the warmest and most welcoming people I’ve ever met

My god, those cast members at the canoes were more than AMAZING. In all honesty, to them, you were 'just' a man. No kids around you. They could've easily stepped down their game, especially since you were on your own as well. But the fact they even kept waving as you walked away, in the background... WOW!!

Favorite castle will always be Disneyland’s because it’s really the only historically significant Disney castle and it really fits the scale of the park (I think all the other ones are too big). However, a close second is DLP’s castle because the scale also works and it’s aesthetically the prettiest one.

Seeing your happiness going on the canoes made me tear up. I know your sadness, because i have been there. I experienced that the first time i visited the park after my partner passed.
