Purchasing a CX2510 HST my self here at the end of the month and already put a ballast box in my amazon cart! haha I do have to say I will be painting it black. Great vid man, from a future compact tractor owner I appreciate these vids.
That’s awesome man. My last video was an update on my ballast box situation. You might want to check it out. I don’t know the terrain you will be working on but I can say the more weight the better. Whatever ballast box you get definitely put concrete in it. My ballast box is 900lbs and it makes a huge difference! Thanks for watching.
Nice addition Matt. I know you said you might want to empty it at some point and that’s why you used the pebbles. My guess is you will find no need to empty it. If you filled it with concrete it would probably add another 200 pounds. That would really add stability. Something to think about.
Yes, I thought about that too and that is still an option! I was worried about pulling my dump trailer and that’s another reason I chose pebble over concrete. Worse case I’ll use the pebbles around the house and buy $50 in concrete haha.
I had that same one from Amazon when I first bought my tractor. The ears on the 3 point mounting bent after 1 day of use. Probably a good ballast box but didn’t hold up to using the hitch receiver. Luckily they had a good return policy and I was able to get my money back.
Great video. We have our ballast box on the tractor almost all the time. (Unless something else is on the 3 point). Much better stability and better for the front axle.
I have the same tractor. You still need more ballast. I looked at the same box, but it's not enough. You need up near 1000lbs ballast in close to the tractor (with filled tires) to do max lifts regularly. The IBC totes are just about at the 1600lbs rating of the 4030 loader, and the log plus grapple was putting you up near that range also. If the boxes mount points are sturdy enough, fill that box with as much scrap steel as it will hold then fill the rest with concrete and weigh it all so you know what it is. I don't think that there's anything you can put in the box (that is affordable) that will get you up to 900+ lbs without attaching some more weight across the bottom of it. Your back tires STILL jumped inches off the ground when you lowered the log a little. See 6:41. You still need more to move that much weight regularly.
I agree I need more weight. That’s why I wanted to try the back pallet forks for the tractor but those didn’t work out. Thanks for the advice. Ill see what else I can look for.
I have a kubota bx. I filled my box about 1/2 full of pea gravel. It weighs 415# and is behind a 70# quick hitch. I had to modify my box to fit the QH, but it works great for max lift. Easy to adjust with the gravel and plenty for my tractor. Seems like they should be around 800# full.
Surprised you could lift anything without ballast. Good thing you have it now. Takes a lot of stress off your front axle. Add more weight if you have it.
A couple rattle cans and it would have been black in 15 minutes!👍 What do they claim weight on reciever is? Looks like a dump trailer full might wad it up?
@Firewood on the Hill You didn't show us the bottom, but the whole thing looks a tad light duty. It will work well and was definitely needed. Just hate to see it destroyed right away. Have a great weekend!
Hey Matt, if that isn't enough ballast for you? I seen another RUclipsr take a carry-all and bolt a 48" job-box to it. Fill the bottom half with concrete and the top half for chainsaws+gear. It worked great for him.
That’s a great idea! One thing I do like about the ballast box is how small and centered it is. It stays out the way unlike a carryall or other things.
Nice ballast box! Cheaper the better for your purpose. Did you change the tires on your tractor, I was thinking you had ag tires when first shown? Great video.👏🏻🇺🇸
Thank you and you are right I switched my tires the day after I got the tractor. I made a video on it to show the difference. It’s crazy the difference!
Awesome improvement to the tractor. Accessories are always fun!!
Thank you and yes it’s crazy what attachments can do for a tractor!
Great looking ballast box!! Each attachment has a purpose, but this one is definitely a necessary one!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
You are correct!

Awesome. I love my Kioti tractor for sure. Wonderful machine 👍👍
Yes I’m very happy with my Kioti.
Good deal. Looks like that ballast will help tremendously! Looks pretty good on Sadie’s tractor too🤣
Yeah she approves! Thanks

Hey Matt, yes it looks like it’s going to be a big help out

Oooh that’s good they refunded you. I will try pulling my dump trailer soon. Hopefully I have Better luck!
That works great! I think I will be shopping for one.
It makes everything so much easier with 4 tires on the ground! I would recommend one.
Very nice! I like it!
Thank you!
$5 can of paint will make it a black ballast box. I may look into this but for the moment I'll use my box blade as a ballast. Great video.
If the box blade works for you then I would use that!
Great video. We have our ballast box on the tractor almost all the time. (Unless something else is on the 3 point). Much better stability and better for the front axle.
Thank you! Yes it’s makes it so much more stable.
Cool ballast box, if you need more weight you can add wheel weights and put Rim Guard in your back tires.
That’s a good idea!
Hello Matt you made a great choice! Amazing!😂 Take care🚜🪵👍🏼🇺🇸
Haha it is amazing
Those Amazon chinese specials are way better quality than titan attachments boxes, I learned from experience! Good stuff
Well I’m glad I went the route I did. Thanks!

Yeah I need to get a bigger box. I need some more weight.
What happens if you have a category 2 Kioti Tractor DK5310. This box is a category 1. Can't have the pins with leeway.
They have converted hitch’s you can put on or just buy a cat 2 ballast box that’s similar
Surprised you could lift anything without ballast. Good thing you have it now. Takes a lot of stress off your front axle. Add more weight if you have it.
Yeah I was surprised how much I could lift without it too! I think I will add more weight! Thanks
A couple rattle cans and it would have been black in 15 minutes!👍

You know I’m not sure but I’ve seen others carry a dump trailer with it.

Matt when get a big log curl back soon as can will increase your lifting power. Bill
I will try that! Thanks
Are Your rear tires filled?
Yes they are.
need to be careful, that first log caused a little power hop,, need more ballast, fill tires or use some briefcase weights...
Yeah the tires were already filled in this video. I added two more bags of gravel though.
A cover may be a good idea so the box doesn't fill with water (to avoid corrosion)
Yeah it shouldn’t get wet enough for that since I keep it under a roof. Good idea though!
did u weight your tires too?
Yes I did.
Also put some sand in the box it will fill the holes in it!
Good idea!
Smaller grapple bigger log!!
You are correct. I will use my pallet forks when the grapple can’t lift it!
