Добавлен 20 фев 2022
This channel is about our adventure of starting a firewood business in NC. All of the wood we acquire is 100% free to us from tree services or other locals who have downed trees needing cleaned up.
We will go over the wins and losses of our adventure and document everything. We hope to bring you knowledge, encouragement, and entertainment with this channel. This journey started January 2022!

You Have Never Seen A Firewood Bucket Like This!
I understand that but it gives you more room to work with. You would have a lot more room for your split.😂💯👍👍
Great job Matt. Great saws and chains. Once the hickory sticks dry, can be a real pain to saw. Nice work
Yessir I found that out haha. Thanks for watching.
Hey Matt, nice buck up them logs, the lousy nails man get a chain every time. I’ve have to try some chains from hippa. Great video!
Yessir you won’t be disappointed. Thanks for watching.
If you mark the logs with your chainsaw from right to left, like you did on the first log, consider placing that magnetic guide on the right side of the bar. That way, you can cut along the mark instantly and seamlessly!
Yes I usually mark from left to right being that I’m right handed. I just switched it up on that log because I like to start with the straightest part of the log and the left side had a crotch at the end of it.
I have had good luck with hipa as well. Try to set the hickory off by itself because you can get more $$ for it than mixed hardwood. Enjoyed it
Yessir I’ll split the hickory Before I’ll split the oak. Thanks for watching!
Hey Matt , I’ve had good luck out of their chains and all any small engine parts .
Well that’s great news Del! Thanks for sharing!
Great video Matt!! Ill have to try the Hippa chain. Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Thanks. Yes you should.
You need to get a metal detector and that way you can start going through your logs so you're not hitting any metal
Yeah that’s not a bad idea.
Nice work brother, its nice to see you have some logs in now too. I need to work on getting some logs soon!!! Maybe this week💪💪 Seems like a good deal with the chains too, I've heard those chains are good for the money. Stay safe man💪
Thanks man. Gotta get the wood anytime you can because it seems to be getting harder to get.
Murphys Law strikes again on putting a new chain on...😢 Have a Merry Christmas on the hill!!🎄🎅🎄🎅
Thanks Wayne. Merry Christmas!
The true test is the hardness of the chain. I run Husqvarna x cut because they hold an edge longer than Oregon.
Are those chains easy to sharpen? You need a different file right?
This is the time that you could be taken to clean your woodyard up.😂
Hey I’ve actually been cleaning up a lot. You will see the progress in future videos haha. but I don’t make any money cleaning up so it’s low on the totem pole.
Always looking for a good deal on chains! Thanks for sharing!
Yessir!
Good haul!
Thanks
swap your marker rod over to the other side or start at the other end of the log. Sorry, My OCD got the best of me. 😂
Yeah I try to mark left to right but the left side had a crotch at the end so I started from the right side to get the most I could out of the straight wood.
Hey Matt glad you got in some logs .
Out of the 462 or 400 what are the positives and negatives of both saws, in your opinion?
462 is heavier than the 400 but has more power. The 400 is definitely a smoother saw. If I only had one saw I would buy the 462 as I need that extra power. But, I tend to find myself using my 400c more often than the 462 so there’s that haha.
@@FirewoodontheHill I have a ms400 but I wanted a unbiased opinion on the 462 comparison can’t decide if I need another 400 before they change it or just get the 462 if any of that makes sense lol
@ get the 462c. The 462 runs a 25 chain way better than the 400. I run a 20” on the 400 and 24 inch on the 462.
I like hearing the saw running not the music 😢
You get best of both worlds!
I’ve had great luck with there carbs so I tryed there chainsaw chain and they are great for misquite trees for firewood 😊😊😊 plus the price is fair but not great but close to Orgen
Really? Aren’t the hipa chains half price of the Oregon chains?
Sounds like a great relationship for the log setup. Glad to hear that has worked itself out!
Yessir thanks
I had some hickory logs that were probably cut and stacked for a year before I bucked them. They were incredibly hard.
Yeah man it’s amazing how they can harden like that.
Glad you got some logs in 😊 Good bucking 👍
Yessir thanks
Nice work. Sucks hitting metal. Nice video on the hipa chains.
Yes metal is my worst enemy. Thanks for watching!
If you mark the logs with you little chainsaw from Right to left, as you did on the first log, maybe you put that magnetic thing on the right side of the bar. Then you can cut the mark instantly.
Yeah that is true. if you noticed I was walking over to the left side to start marking but there was a knot over there so I decided to mark from the other side. I usually mark left to right because I’m right handed.
Nice work Matt! I still have all my Hipa chains, I stocked up last year.
Yeah I should’ve bought more at the $4.99 price haha
I would open up the oiler on 400 to tank for tank. oils cheap bars are not.looks between Oregon and stihl chain are not easy to see but oregon will always out cut a stihl chain but will also strech more.
Yeah I would buy an Oregon chain over a stihl chain myself.

Congrats !! 😀 your gift will be in the mail shortly expect a 3 to 4 week for delivery
Hi Matt , Greetings from Western North Carolina
What the machine look like
Check out my videos. It’s on a lot of them. Its my 15ft belt conveyor I split onto.
After cutting could you drop it right on to a log splitter? then put it in the totes! That's completing everything in one assembly line at one time? I just got forced in to doing firewood so thats what im looking for. Great videos!
Yes I could but I like doing one process at a time. If you don’t have a second person feeding the splitter then the cut rounds would fill up too quickly where you couldn’t keep cutting. Thanks for watching!
Great job i helped me decide to buy one
Awesome I’m glad I could help!
Nice vid Matt. Always good to get things cleaned up. Makes it easier to get going next time. Happy Thanksgiving. Good hunting.
You are correct. I hope you had a great thanksgiving!
I been there man that fresh cut live oak is Heavy and will beat you up! Even with a log lift I be noodlin them big ones.
Yessir noodling is definitely easier
Job. Take care.
I can’t believe you moved out all that wood. Great j
Yeah it’s crazy man.
Happy Thanksgiving to y'all
Thank you happy thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving Matt! Hope you and your family have a wonderful day. Thanks for the shout out, the hat looks good on you! 😊
Happy thanksgiving! Thanks for the hat!
Advertise all that wood and logs you don't want to deal with. There is someone out there that would take it for free or pay for you to deliver it as is.
I have and there’s no takers unfortunately
Im definitely with you on the sweet gum. I get a ton of it here, its burns okay but its just not oak or locust. I still split it, i sell it a tad cheaper when people will take it. Cheers brother, Happy Turkey day.
Happy thanksgiving! Take care
I am about in the same shape ! It’s been crazy this year for sure . I do have about 8 cord but it’s spoken for .
Nice! You can’t split enough
I watch a chainsaw video to hear an see the saws cut not to listen to music while it's cutting .
I try to do a little bit of both.
Cool to see that huge pile gone already!👍👍
Yessir!
Happy Thanksgiving Matt :)
Happy thanksgiving to you too!
Hi, new subscriber here! Awesome that is a lot of wood! We are working on our winter wood right now, just a little behind!
Thanks for subscribing! We are all always behind haha. Can’t split enough wood ever.
@ Yw and so true! 😊✌🏼
Happy for your sales. Sad about your supplier. I personally buck all the sweet gum I get and let it set for several weeks or months. You would be surprised how much easier it splits. I do this with elm as well. Have a great day.
I tired that and some sweet gum it works for but others it doesn’t for some reason. Who knows haha
Matt, good job getting back after it! Good luck with the rest of deer season! Stay safe out there!
Yessir thank you!
Greetings from Steve in Western North Carolina. I survived the Hurricane
That’s good news! No major issues?
Hey Matt , glad you had such a good selling year .
Thanks Del
Matt, another great video. Happy Thanksgiving from Rhode Island.
Thank you! Happy thanksgiving!
Hello Matt! Definitely hard to get time to produce videos this time of year! Work still goes on but just not enough extra time to bring the camera along. Your sales were great! Can’t believe that pile of wood is gone! Take care👊🏻
Yessir it went faster than I imagined. Yes cameras slow down the process so I leave the camera behind more than I would like but when you gotta get it done you gotta get it done. Happy thanksgiving!
