1:12 "It has no feelings about us at all, it's just a machine" One of the few times Avon was dead wrong. It broke my little heart with Zen's final words to the crew, "I'm sorry".
Zen's voice in series 2 & 3 was better, when Peter Tuddenham had to distinguish Zen's from Orac. A deeper more laid back voice suited him better. But with either voice he was still the best computer ever.

The ship's intentions was much the same as the crew it gathered, try and be free. After escaping, it lost focus and drifted losing all identity. By happenstance, it was boarded by some prison guards which it took offence to and despatched. It was later boarded by prisoners. After some intense mind sweeping, it decided it liked Jenna and named itself Zen and it's body Liberator in the hope of kinship and being free.
Iwas never sure re zen. Our introduction to the sustem was far too brief to get much data but one would assume that all of their ships had had their own ai which the system created.
There's a clip of him commenting Slave is his kind of a computer because it doesn't offer an opinion. I've just suddenly realised Avon doesn't approve of A.I.!
Zen, the ship itself. "LIBERATOR" the teleport bracelets. And every member of the estranged crew. Made BLAKES7. The huge success story, in Sci fi history. It forever was and always will be. 😊 ✝️ 😊
Blakes 7 was a truly unique show. It was shown on my local PBS station in the mid-1980s, which was a bad time in my life. I eagerly looked forward to every episode. There was something uplifting about watching the show.
Zen, was at the end of day. The best computer, in the federation worlds. Next to orac. No wonder, servelan, once she became aware. She just had to get her hands on it. And she successfully did too, however it was only for about 5 minutes. Hehehe.
All I remember of the episodes is the first Tarrant being whacked by a terminator, the planet that drowned its fleas, something about Orac (before they said fk it, stick with Zen), and Avon being enticed into thinking Blake was still alive.
Much proffered Zen and the Liberator to Scorpion and slave.
Liberator was Blake's ship, Scorpio was Avon's ship. Made for their owner
IMO Zen was one of the most under-appreciated characters on the show.

it was also the pot calling the kettle black; as Avon was more akin to a Vulcan than a human; despite there being no Vulcans in Blake's Seven.
I hated the way they wrote the Liberator off in the series. Super ship they should have gone on with until they found a haven somewhere

I cried when Zen died
Yes he’s last words to the crew still haunt me ....

Me too, he loved that crew
same

That's amazing. That stage set inside the elibarator. Even that crew. They actors cannot be beaten
Beautiful , lots of happy late 70s memories , Much love to the whole cast too
Com'on Avon how could you not love Zen ?
For Avon? It is remarkably easy!
There's a clip of him commenting Slave is his kind of a computer because it doesn't offer an opinion. I've just suddenly realised Avon doesn't approve of A.I.!
@@medievalist At least not AI which isn't under Avon's complete control, that is. 👍🏼
"Don't philosophize with me you electronic moron" -- I loved Avon's early sparring sessions with Zen that continued with Orac.
Zen hasn't got it at all.
Very deep. Very........um..............Zen...............
Sally looked MAGNIFICENT in that opening shot. Pity she hit the wall quite young, and at standard by twenty..
what does that mean
@@user-jt5vm3mi1w some age like a fine wine, others hit the wall, and hit it hard... Time can be cruel.
@@unkle_Enkil And standard by twenty is very, very fast.

you can tell it's a UK production......gun etiquette. Avon strobing the crew, casually with his blaster.

It's a shame they hadn't worked out Zen's modulator by this stage. This is the only episode where his whole panel lights up when he speaks.
He was happy to have some new playmates after drifting alone.
Zen had 1000% more personality than Blake.
Hyupp Zen!!!
Everything on the telly was better back then.
Myself and my sisters cried when Zen died lol , love this show

Zen it is!

Very english machine. Even them are 'scassapalle'
I can see where Farscape got the inspiration from :) Awesome series
I LOVE ZEN ❤️. 70S Gold.
Sod zen, I was a 16 year old in love with Jenna.
When ROG was a cool name
Cally had something of the Peckham about her
Probably in her as well, strong character not utilised enough.
We love zen☠️☠️☠️
Zen is my favourite character
