I love being called a "fellow survivor" even though I've never survived more than 40 days in a single game, lol.
For those who don't know, at around the 35 minute mark Zak was looking for a supply cache that wasn't visible. There was a bug where mapping could reveal Supply Caches that could only be discovered with the radio during an aurora. So it's buried under the snow until you can use the locator beacon to know where to dig it up. Happened to me in PV as well.
Ah, that's good to know, I was trying to find a cache that was marked on my map after surveying, but there was only snow.
Only series on RUclips I constantly check if there's a new episode everyday.

I also did the same thing. Level 5 cooking didn’t realize I had one single piece of uncooked bear meat in my big drop of cooked bear meat. Immediately hit 75% for parasites and got them next day. Was so frustrated with myself.
seriously though, rancid meat looks like it's cooked while it's not, I fell for that trap way too many times lol
I treat fire hardened arrows like practice arrows. Early on they're worthwhile for training, especially if you have an abundance of feathers. However, once you've mastered archery, they become a liability because you might have them equipped on accident when a wolf comes to end your run.

I've been watching this series from the beginning but stopped as life happened and I am very happy to see how care free but serious you are with how you play still, on your main run at that! Truly a great content creator.

Supply Caches show up when mapping close to them even if you didn't find it with the shortwave. The only problem is you can't open/"find" it until you use the shortwave.

i don't repair Bear coat anymore, after they change that u need only 1 bear hide i just harvest old one and make new one. Only think i really need is guts :) edit: Also i don't wanna risk failing repair.
You can go the extra mile here and have 3 bear coats. When you change coats you move the inner to the outer and the replacement to the inner, and break down the old coat and recraft it. However when below mending 5 it's nice to get the mending experience, also it takes less time to repair than to replace a coat.
Welcome to the club. I ate raw beer twice in my 500 day run so far. Good tip, walking sideways and press sprint to check the sprint meter, never knew that 5000 hrs playing thins game probably.
I found clothing decays much slower when stored in containers, I think on interloper it's something below .15% a day. When it happened to me on my loper run storing the gear and wearing the found alternatives like togue and mittens for a day or two gave the hides time to cure and I didn't have to remake the items. Just thought I would share that tip after all the ones you have given to me over the years! Love your vids!

Btw a thought that came across my mind, since theyre adding another animal I suppose is huntable with fire hardened arrows I think they'll nerf stones, the stun will either be shorter or the rocks will only have a chance to stun them, otherwise the fire hardened arrows won't have that much of an actual viable use other then being a cool addition/options

The supply cache that appears on the map but you couldnt find I think you need the handheld shortwave radio to uncover the cache. The same thing happend to me when i mapped out HRV and DP and when i used the radio doing the aurora i was able to finde the supply cache under the snow
Glad you avoided parasites, but would have been curious how you dealt with it. I did the exact same thing as you but got it. My stamina went steadily down each day - at the end I only had about 2 or three hours left. I also built a snow shelter outside trappers so I could lie low for most of the day and not have to worry about cabin fever.
I might give myself parasites on purpose one day just to cure it
@@Zaknafein Don't do it. It's a PITA. 20 days is a long time, and the last 5-10 you have no energy so you can't travel.

Watching back when you ate that bear meat that got you food poisoning, it was a cooked rancid bear meat, frame was too quick to see the percentage. I got food poisoning from a 70% condition candy bar once😅 I think the game has a random chance to throw food poisoning at you, seems like it, because it happen to me twice now.
It was an uncooked bear meat. There is an issue which prevents the texture from being updated, and there was only one meat with a darker texture, which makes it looks like a cooked meat.

Hey, Zak! Great series first of all. Quick question...I recently completed the dark walker challenge but only got the pages badge. How come I didn't get the actual Dark Walker skull badge too?
I am not 100% sure, but it could be because that badge was a Halloween event? Either that or a bug.
It seems to be a bug. I banished the darkwalker a month ago and got neither the feat nor the badge.

I don't think so. Never saw one respawn, but I don't have as many hours as Zak.

What is the drop mechanic you talk about scaring the rabbits with? can figure how to just drop what I’m holding
If you drop your torch, the rabbits get spooked. If you go in the inventory and drop it from there, though, they dont flee :)
Sure, I get that. But im wondering how to just drop the torch? Don’t see any key in the keybinding settings. Also the internet says use H, but that just puts it away.

On my current run I've been having a lot of issues where a cache shows up on the map, but I can't find anything. It's been very annoying.
It turned out that its an aurora cache. Need the radio to find it
The problem with Bear Meat is when it is raw, it doesn't say "raw bear meat" in the game. The other meats use the word "raw" when they aren't cooked, but bear meat doesn't. I have eaten raw bear meat a couple times because of this.

So a rookie question, why repair the can opener when u dont need it after level 3 or 4 cooking? Am i missing something?
Interlopee is so much easier after watching your videos , also great lunch entertainment at work😅
Thank you! Using the can opener gives me a can since you dont smash it, even if no calories are lost when smashing.
@@Zaknafein Also it protects against accidentally using your knife or hatchet on them because once at level 3 cooking the knives and hatchets still try to open the can instead of smashing it, so you have to drop them every time you open a can.
A Can Opener is always prioritized when you are opening one though.

Do labtops get energy during an aurora, it would be a great way to get rid of cabin fever.
They become active, yes. Not all are interactable, but I think most are.
@@Zaknafein thats cool, in a survival situation just being able to hear a radio, or a recording listed on a computer, would mean to world to someone.... imagine someone who has not heard a human voice in months, waiting for an aurora, just to hear the paperclip 📎 from Microsoft office speak to them, for comfort, and something to talk to....
I play with the wooden arrows und don´t use the stones. I never see any person in the world , that hit a rabbit with a stone. perhaps they remove this way to hunt.
I have only ever hit rabbits with a stone. Tried the arrow once, but kept missing. Still need lots of practice with the bow!

Any wolf 🐺 with any amount of intelligence would realize that all these long dark players leave huge amounts of meat outside in the ice and snow.
I got intestinal parasites because of accidentally eating a raw piece of bear meat just a couple of weeks ago.
