As always, very useful information, Carl. Thanks. By the way, on a Mac, for TextEdit Save As, hold down the Option key and the File menu then shows Save As.
Indeed. You're the second viewer to step forward with that helpful knowledge. I'll pin both your and Bo's comment to the top of the stack so people will see them. Thanks! Er, no I won't .RUclips only allows one pinned comment. So, just yours.
Hi Carl: Thanks for creating and sharing this video. I can now finally understand the difference of Controlled Vocabulary key-word lists vs. Structured Key-Word list, and now I can use PM+6 to more quickly manage my image assets and not corrupt my LR Classic key-word hierarchical list. Cheers, Keith
Great serie of PM keywords. I don't know what system do you recommend for use only in PhotMechanic, controlled vocabulary or structured one. Thanks a lot for your work.
Thanks Carl, much appreciated. Text edit does have a Save As, only Apple has hidden it. Hold down the option (alt) key and then chose File.... and there it is.
The autocomplete for hierachical keywords (24:30) is a great trick, thanks for that. But in all honesty, this trick is probably a pain to create and maintain when your keywords change and only a workaround for the obvious shortcoming of PM6+ not to be able to use the already existing hierarchical keywords, don't you think? How long does this shortcoming exist in PM and not been fixed? Thanks, Marc
Excellent videos I'm really enjoying them and i find them very useful, for me you're missing a couple of tricks, 1 if it's available to you text files are best edited in Excel and 2 I like to add an autocomplete text file, it works very well for me.
Thank you so much for this! I have been using PM as front end, entering keywords based on memory, then importing finished folders into LR, where I have a hierarchical keyword list. Too often, I need to reconcile the LR keywords to get them in order. This video inspired me to move the LR keywords to PM Structured Keywords and hopefully will speed up keyboarding in PM as well as save time/frustration in LR later..
@@keithpinn152 Quite well, PM auto-completes when I start typing a keyword. LR then has what it needs. The only fly in the ointment is adding new keywords, which need to then be coordinated. Not perfect, but better than before.
@@Ricardo-SW Thanks Ricardo for your response. Do you add the key-word in PM or LR? If it is added in PM won't it be picked up in LR as you sycn the file?
@@keithpinn152 Yes, that's what I do, but if you use nest/parent-child system, you need to remember to move to appropriate place in LR, which means either keeping a record as you go in PM, or periodically going thru LR keywords and moving ones which belong somewhere else in the hierarchy. I use the latter, can't be bothered stopping and writing etc in PM if autofill doesn't pop up.
Hi, I use Photo Mechanic Plus Version 6.0, build 6496 (19d779b) on my M1 Apple MacBook Pro and do editing on ON1 Photo Raw 2022. How can I get PM+ metadata such as ratings and keywords, to be picked up by ON1?
I’m having trouble with this. I don’t see any keywords in the Master Keywords List. How do you get keywords there? Where do I find such a list in Photo Mechanic? Thanks!

Hi Ricardo: I am in the process of doing the same thing for my LR Classic key-word structure. How did your results turn out?

Carl, any recommendations on purchasing a keyword list?
This is superb information
Is there a site where I can download structured keyword dictionaries? thanks
