  • We all lost the great George Jones on April 26th 2013. Here is George singing a song that has an even more powerful message than it did before that sad April day... "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes".
    As Vince Gill said recently "it is my belief that they don't make those shoes anymore"!

    Great song with a definite message. This man left a void in country music when he passed and also left one pair of mighty big shoes to fill.

    When I was young I didn't really have an appreciation for country music but in my older years I I realize how much it's changed over the decades. George was one of the greats with a signature voice that can't be duplicated and I sure do miss him and all those who were so big a part of his era.
    I remember when he came out with this song and back then nobody thought twice about what it would be like when George wasn't around anymore. This was just another hit song, but every word in this song is absolutely true. Sadly we just have to accept that nobody can fill the shoes of such talented people once they're gone and we just have to enjoy these great performers until it's our time to go. Respect to you all . . .

    • @KLUNKET
      @KLUNKET  9 лет назад +7

      You said it sister!! I about shit in my pants when I heard Blake Shelton say these words during an interview.
      That arrogant a-hole said "If I am “Male Vocalist of the Year” that must mean that I’m one of those people now that gets to decide if it moves forward and if it moves on. Country music has to evolve in order to survive. Nobody wants to listen to their grandpa’s music. And I don’t care how many of these old farts around Nashville going, “My God, that ain’t country!” Well that’s because you don’t buy records anymore, jackass. The kids do, and they don’t want to buy the music you were buying."
      Blake couldn't have been more wrong. First of all, a lot of "kids" aren't buying records anymore. They are stealing them by downloading them illegally online. It's people my age who are buying them. Many young people don't listen to their "grandpa's music" because they simply haven't been exposed to it. Country radio stopped playing the "real" country music and started pushing this crap down all of our throats.
      The great Ray Price felt the same way I did about these ignorant comments that Mr. Shelton made... he responded "It’s a shame that I have spend 63 years in this business trying to introduce music to a larger audience and to make it easier for the younger artists who are coming behind me. Every now and then some young artist will record a rock and roll type song , have a hit first time out with kids only. This is why you see stars come with a few hits only and then just fade away believing they are God’s answer to the world. This guy sounds like in his own mind that his head is so large no hat ever made will fit him. Stupidity Reigns Supreme!!!!!!! Ray Price (CHIEF “OLD FART” & JACKASS”) ” P.S. YOU SHOULD BE SO LUCKY AS US OLD-TIMERS. CHECK BACK IN 63 YEARS (THE YEAR 2075) AND LET US KNOW HOW YOUR NAME AND YOUR MUSIC WILL BE REMEMBERED. - Ray Price"
      I laughed my rear end off when I heard Rays response to Shelton's arrogance. I also thought it was really funny that Ray Price jokingly dubbed himself "chief old fart and jackass". Hahaha.
      I also find this funny, Blake in a rebuttal stated that he was only doing what Ray had done years earlier, he said "I'm changing country the same way Mr. Price did... Pushing the boundaries with his records. “For The Goodtimes” Perfect example with the introduction of a bigger orchestrated sound in country music." Then Blake said " I’ll put my Lo(v)e and respect and knowledge About it up against anybody out there… ANYBODY…"
      I would LOVE it if Blake would come TO MY HOUSE to compare his knowledge about country music. I laughed at his rebuttal to Ray Price because IT WAS WRONG!!! He stated that Ray introduced orchestration into Country music with his album "For The Good Times", and obviously his knowledge isnt as good as he thinks it is, because HE WAS WRONG. Ray had introduced orchestration into his music YEARS before the Good Times album, he did it with his "Danny Boy" album in 1967.
      Another thing that furthers my case against Blake Shelton is that Ray Price released an album last year not too long after this argument with Blake, his last album called "Beauty Is.. The Final Sessions". The album saw immediate success, selling out within 24 hours at Walmart.com and the digital download rose to the #1 most downloaded country album on Amazon and inside the Top 30 on iTunes. Obviously people still DO want to hear their "grandpas music". The day it was released I went to the music store before it even opened, and there were 4 other people waiting- we got to talking and we were all there for Rays album!!! And that was just in this one little town here in the middle of nowhere. I thought that was impressive!!
      I truly love Country music. I found Blakes comments so offensive that I now literally don't even care for the mention of his name in my house. I realize that he apologized for it, but no apology could ever bare any weight with me, because I love true Country music so much. I would love to compare my knowledge with Blake, I think he would be surprised... I forgot more about Country than he knows. Sorry to make such a long comment..lol. I just get all steamed up about that darn Blake Shelton. I feel sad for old George, that he worked so hard in country music only to see radio shit on him, and had to see what they did to his beloved Country Music. In the old days they respected the older artists, today they toss them aside. It isn't right. If loving real country music makes me an old fart and a jackass, then I am the proudest old fart and jackass you'll ever meet!!
      Thanks for the comment, sorry to go off on a tangent..lol.
