    The Red River Shootout was a non-con game for 70+ years. By putting OU in the SWC you killed the OU vs Missouri rivalry, Bedlam, and the Battle of the Big Reds (again). Put OU in the Big 8.

    • @thepick6
      @thepick6  7 месяцев назад +2

      To be fair the Oklahoma and Missouri rivalry has been dead for years in football, but I definitely see your point.

    • @quinnschroetlin
      @quinnschroetlin 7 месяцев назад +1

      Would be easy to switch OU and Tulsa, so that the Southwest isn't too strong and the Big 8 can be more equal with other power conferences. Also, the Utah and BYU thing just feels like a forced move to bump the number to 10, when they fit in better with PAC/MWC type schools.
      Edit: I totally see how the goal is for every conference to have 10 or 11 (so I'll support it if that's the locked rules), but in future realignment ideas, please feel free to be comfortable with having different sized conferences amongst each other so that some moves don't feel forced.

    • @thepick6
      @thepick6  7 месяцев назад

      Yeah it honesty just came down to numbers and my goal to keep all conferences at 10 to 11 teams max. I had a hard time figuring out where to put Utah and BYU and the Big8 just seemed like the best fit out of the options I had.

    Quick fix: expand the playoffs to 16 teams, with 9 automatic bids, one for each of the 9 FBS conferences. Every team would have a chance to play their way in, like every other sport on every other level. And the top 11 P4 teams in the playoff would be exactly the same as they are now (four P4 champions and 7 at-large teams.)
    Bigger fix: Add North Dakota State and South Dakota State to get FBS to 136 teams. Then split into a 64-team upper division and a 72-team lower division. Make four geographically based 16-team conferences in the upper division. Make four corresponding geographically based 18-team conferences in the lower division. Have separate 8-team playoffs for each division, with 4 conference winners and 4 at-large teams. Promote the top lower division team in each conference at the end of the season, and relegate the bottom upper division team in each conference.

    • @thepick6
      @thepick6  3 месяца назад +2

      I like the idea of the conferences being more geographically correct and the relegations being a lot more straight forward. This is a great idea, might have to steal it and make a video 🤔😉.

    • @jansonroberts2616
      @jansonroberts2616 2 месяца назад

      No relegation for the SEC, it’s perfect the way it is. But everyone else is fair game if you can get them to agree. As for the playoff, as long as half the SEC teams are in it, that will be fine as well.

    UTSA would fit better in the South West Conference replacing Rice. Rice fits better with the WAC as they can probably be middle of the pack there and be able to compete. UTSA is at 8-3 vs Rice and is in its own city. UH takes Houston. The WAC texas team should be leftover second teams of Texas cities.

    • @thepick6
      @thepick6  7 месяцев назад

      That Definitely would make the SWC a better conference on paper, but I feel like UTSA would thrive better in the WAC since they could have a chance of being the big fish in a small pond and with my playoff format, they could make the playoffs each year rather than just hoping they can be a middle of the pack team to in the SWC. Rice has no chance of being great despite the conference.

    • @itsrab100

    Here's my thought on things: The BIG is now at 18-teams and need six more to get to "SUPER CONFERENCE" Status (24 teams), and here's how I see it playing out.
    #1. The BIG wants Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina and Virginia because of "LOCATION"..."LOCATION"..."LOCATION" (Atlanta, Charlotte, Miami, Richmond etc...), that plus their academics and AAU status!!!
    #2. High School Football Recruiting!!!
    #3. Georgia Tech OFFERS more to the BIG then Rutgers did then and/or does now... At least Georgia Tech has a Winning History!!! "NEWS FLASH"... PLUS, they'll get/take Cal and Stanford "CHEAP" after the collapse of the ACC... For the SAME Damn Reasons!!!
    Now their footprint is Coast-to-Coast, and they will have MOST of the Major TV Markets, PLUS, and this is The BIG Reason, they are "NOW", in "The HEART of DIXIE"!!!
    That's their plan to create one of two 24-Team Semi-Pro Super Conferences and EXIT the NCAA!
    The SEC counters by taking Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina State and Virginia Tech with the latter two teams helping to encroach into BIG Territory!!!
    After taking the four ACC Schools (Florida and South Carolina have ZERO to say about the additions of Clemson and FSU, just like Arkansas, Missouri and Texas A&M had ZERO to say about the addition of Texas... It's a "If You Don't Like It... You're FREE to Leave the SEC ANYTIME you'd like).
    To get to a 24-Team Super Conference, the SEC would need to add four more teams, and since MOST of the SEC are Land Grant Institutions, NONE of the Metro Schools left in the ACC fill the bill... THUS, the SEC has no place else to go EXCEPT WEST!
    So, "THE ONLY PLACE TO TURN"... The Big-12, and to keep up with the BIG (Coast-to-Coast), they "POACH Arizona, Colorado, Kansas (to APPEASE Kentucky) and Utah!
    That's your two "SEMI-PRO, SUPER CONFERECNES", and at that point they "WILL BREAK AWAY" from the NCAA to create their own playoffs and championships in ALL SPORTS... After all, it's about "Making and KEEPING as much money as you possibly can, and to HELL with the rest of" College Athletics"!!!
    New BIG:
    EAST POD: Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina, Rutgers, Virginia.
    LAKES POD: Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue.
    PLAINS POD: Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Wisconsin.
    WEST POD: California, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Washington.
    NEW SEC:
    EAST POD: Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, NC State, South Carolina.
    SOUTH POD: Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech.
    Central POD: Arkansas, Kansas, LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Missouri.
    WEST POD: Arizona, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, Utah.
    What's left of the ACC, the Big (Little) 12-2 +4, the PAC-12 minus 10, the G-5 conferences and Notre Dame will create Eight New Regional Conference with 10-12 Teams under the NCAA Banner.
    Here's a possible Eight Conference League with Eleven Teams (Would need to add Three more FCS Schools to get to Eleven Schools), in each conference.
    AAC: Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Jacksonville State, James Madison, Liberty, Marshall, Troy.
    NEW ACC: Army, Boston College, Buffalo, Charlotte, Duke, Navy, ODU, Temple, U-Mass, *Villanova*, Wake Forest.
    NEW Big 11: Baylor, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas State, New Mexico, Oklahoma State, Rice, SMU, TCU, Texas Tech, Tulsa.
    CUSA: Central Florida, Cincinnati, East Carolina, Louisville, Memphis, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, South Florida, Syracuse, U-Conn, West Virginia.
    MAC: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami of Ohio, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Toledo, Western Michigan.
    MWC: Air Force, BYU, Colorado State, *Montana*, New Mexico State, North Texas, *South Dakota State*, Texas State, UTEP, UTSA, Wyoming.
    NEW PAC: Arizona State, Boise State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV, Utah State, Washington State.
    Sunbelt: Arkansas State, Louisiana Lafayette, Louisiana Monroe, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee State, Sam Houston State, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Tulane, UAB, Western Kentucky.
    Time to get this ESPN, FOX, BIG and SEC Money Hungry ARROGANCE over with... Send them ALL Packing... REFUSE to play any of them in the future!!! They wanted their EXCLUSIVE Conferences and Playoffs, let them have it!
    The NCAA should disassociate themselves from both conferences as well and EXCLUDE all the schools in those two EXCLUSIVE Super Conferences (Semi Pro Leagues), from the NCAA Basketball Tournament as well as other "College Sports", going forward!
    Let ESPN create a Separate Basketball Tournament for them!!! The other 80+ FBS Schools have ZERO NEED to continue to play the BIG and SEC in any sports going forward and WILL Survive with their own "COLLEGE SPORTS CHAMPIONSHIPS"!!!

      UNC will join the SEC if and when they leave the ACC. UNC voted against bringing in west coast teams because they have zero interest in sending their student athletes across the country. Facts. The same applies to the B1G once they brought in west coast schools, that ended any consideration by UNC. In fact they’ve got new administrators in place now that are totally SEC leans. UVA could possibly still go B1G but a higher chance that they follow UNC when the time comes.
