Dear Six Flags Great America, RMC American Eagle!

- American Eagle Great America is one of the oldest Six Flags Great America rides and Six Flags Great America roller coasters. That being said, I believe that American Eagle Six Flags Great America Gurnee Illinois should become RMC American Eagle. Given its age and land occupancy, it just makes too much sense to replace this roller coaster Six Flags Great America. Also, in order to completely replace Six Flags Great America American Eagle it would require a lot of money, but by making the Six Flags Great America rides into RMC American Eagle, money will be saved. I'll explain further in this Six Flags Great America discussion video.

American Eagle? More like AmeriCAN’T Eagle
*forced laughter*
Thank you, thank you I try
I say no RMC because it would make Goliath obsolete and they are right next to eachother if they want another RMC they just take out buccaneer battle and put a raptor there. If you really want eagle taken down just take it down completely and put a giga or new age Vekoma. Another RMC right next to Goliath is stupid especially if it doesnt duel
Just another idea, you could put a raptor in the first half of the ride space and a crazy Gerstlauer in the MASSIVE helix area there’s so much more they could do with the eagle space than that
@@nedeggert4290 OR.... DUELING HYPER RAPTORS. In a Mobius loop.
No, not every woodie needs to get RMC'd. American Eagle is still a blast. Great America already has an RMC. Hybrids don't feel the same as Woodies.
I agree with everything you said there except for American Eagle is still a blast.
@@AttractionIdeas when was the last time you rode this great ride
Wisconsin Thrills it’s rough as hell
@@puppetuppers4806 I don't mind a ride like American Eagle being rough since there is no harness near your head, no banging around goes on. It's part of the experience.
Never expected to see you here
You could say Americam Eagle FLEW so El Toro could SOAR...
TIL AE was made by INTAMIN?? I had no idea tbh.
Yeah when I was researching for this video and read that I was surprised too lol
Sometimes when I leave the park very late, I drive out past the American Eagle. Rides are no longer operating. I'll make sure no cars are behind me. I'll stop next to the Eagle's big illuminated drop, in the still of the Summer night. I listen carefully. If the atmosphere is just right, I can hear the echoes from 1983 of Stevie & me at the top hollering in anticipation before the big drop. Now, over 35 years later, we've got plenty of health problems........ and are still good friends. It helps to remember.
Also Goliath isn't a hybrid. It's just wood...
I heard it has some steel supports but yeah you're right
Gwazi isn't a racer either, it was a dueling coaster.
It's a topper track it has steal and wood track
@@gamergamer-uk9tv well by that definition any wooden coaster with a steel running surface would be steel. The running surface is steel, is inside is hollow and filled with grout. The majority of the track consists of wood.
@@Coolsomeone234 just the steel truss lift
I think RMC Eagle could make Goliath basically obsolete, if its so much longer and has better elements, itll be a lot different than Goliath but to the point where Goliath won't be relevant
Yeah I could see that happening, but there are many parks that have two similar model coasters that both seem to receive attention even when one is newer and “better.” Though we have never seen this situation with two similar model RMCs in the same park before, so your point it still very plausible and valid.
Maybe GCI?? Maybe RMC would be up for simple retracking?? Maybe RMC convinced them that they could do another launched RMC?? Perhaps instead of a hill launch it's a rolling flat launch like on WCR?
Airtime Thrills but yet again look at magic mountain
Exactly
Maybe American eagle could be based on airtime and interaction, but Goliath would be for inversions
I heard another reason why six flags hasn’t gone through with any changes is that the helix part of the ride is on property owned by the city of Gurnee and it’s close proximity to the highway makes the city not want to start construction.
American Eagle is an icon. Leave it alone.
20 seconds in: “Did I leave the highlights of a Capitals game running in another tab?”
Woodie: *Exists*
Every coaster fan ever: RMC THAT BITCH!
Don’t RMC El Toro!
I think RMC hybrids should be spread out more I think the eagle should be preserved and redone by either Intamin or GCI and made an ace landmark
Dude your videos always crack me up especially this one “I’m holding American Eagle hostage if you don’t RMC it I’m gonna kill it” 😂 😂 😂
Me personally I'd like to see American Eagle get the iBox treatment, TWO RMC's in one park wouldn't be a problem. Look at Fiesta Texas, with IRad and WWGLC.
PLUS, Goliath isn't an Iron Horse but a wood topper track RMC....SOOOOO THAT would lead the way for American Eagle to get the full ibox conversion!
This should get brought up more often
Here's another good reason, don't know how true it is but I've heard that due to how the highway expanded next to the ride, if they removed the ride they wouldn't be allowed to build new in its place due to restrictions. However, an RMC upgrade wouldn't count as it is basically a glorified retracking (which they are obviously allowed to do). If they don't RMC it, and it eventually closes it would be unusable space.
Actually i searched around for it and i can't find that rule anywhere. But it might be due to confidentiality, but idk why it would be
Yea they’re already landlocked loosing that would damage the parks place for investment
Ive never found it that rough at all, even in the back, its such a fun ride and gives pretty good airtime
SAVE AMERICAN EAGLE SAVE AMERICAN EAGLE
7:11 I actually didnt expect that
Got jumpscared bc I wasnt paying attention
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Honestly this ride is thrilling just becasue it seems like the wood supports could give out at any point
Hey umm is it true theres an abanonded ride next to the american eagle? Its like some slow race kid ride by the queue of american eagle in the very start
When you've been operating as long as The American Eagle and everyone starts talking about how it needs to go already. *oof*

LOL thanks for traumatizing me! 😂
American Eagle is a top 2 ride at Great America and it’s not 2.
What is the music at 6:55
They should shorten it but still make it longer than Goliath and use the remaining space for an off the chain axis coaster. Call the new RMC Iron Eagle and the Asia coaster "The Hunter"
I have remembered that advertisement from the start! I don't know what aremsee is but i hope you guys get your wish!
Frank Sheeran To let you know its RMC. Know you know! (Basically RMC treatment, they turn a bad ride to a really good one)
Why can’t Viper can get RMC’d?
I suppose they could RMC Viper, but I don’t think doing that would do much for Great America’s expansion space issue as Viper doesn’t take up that much land.
If they opt to RMC Viper instead, it'd most likely be a clone of Six Flags Over Georgia's Twisted Cyclone, based on the ride layout.
RMC I-Box conversion to American Eagle presents quite a few challenges...
(1) Gurnee, Illinois government may not allow it, mostly due to the location of the helix element.
(2) I'm not sure of the chances of Gurnee allowing for GCI to do traditional wood coaster retracking and structural repairs to AE. GCI equivalent of RMC I-Box track would be highly unlikely.
(3) If RMC conversion of AE is allowed to happen, I'd anticipate möbius loop (think Six Flags Magic Mountain's Twisted Colossus) or scaled down ride (think Busch Gardens Tampa's new for 2020 Iron Gwazi and Kentucky Kingdom's Storm Chaser, phased out racing concept).
(4) AE, like Six Flags Great Adventure's former Rolling Thunder coaster, could bite the dust, and the plot of land AE occupies could fit 1 or 2 new coasters, and a 24-story SkyScreamer ride.
Looking at other Six Flags parks...
- Six Flags St. Louis' The Boss looks to be a prime candidate for RMC I-Box conversion, an easy no-brainer, if that could possibly be their new for 2021 coaster. SFSL has its 50th anniversary season in 2021.
- Six Flags Darien Lake's Predator is another prime candidate for RMC I-Box conversion. SFDL has its 40th anniversary season in 2021.
- Six Flags America's Roar is another good candidate for RMC conversion.
- Six Flags Great Adventure's El Toro could also easily be another RMC conversion candidate, despite any mixed reception amongst coaster enthusiasts.
- La Ronde's Le Monstre getting RMC conversion would be neat, but Canada won't allow for RMC to touch it. If RMC conversion were allowed to take place, it'd be something scaled down or möbius loop. LR could easily go the route of a ground-up RMC in the old Cobra plot of land instead.
@@erickirk6966 If they RMC El Toro I may have to retire
@@AttractionIdeas i may too
Well tbh that can be really cool, but i feel like it's great america's "winning woodie" if that makes sense. Like, let's compare it to cedar point's woodie lineup:
Mean streak = American Eagle
Blue Streak = viper
(This may be a rough comparison, but this is all hypothetical-ISH)
they rmc'd MS because it was getting low ridership and reviews (albiet it took em a while) but viper (blue streak) is always getting at least more of a line than AE. And if AE goes like MS, we got a SV, OK? Or the winning woodie is just goliath but i like preserving viper, it's a fun ride. But i guess it wouldn't be off the table.
Idk who would be ok with a one sided American eagle
Iron Eagle would be awesome.
I have seen other video's covering this topic with much better detail, facts, and points. As well this sounds like this is not his home park, because if it was he would know more about why this ride is a staple for Great America. Six Flags has not brought in a top-tiered roller coaster into Great America in a long time. I have to say the last couple of coasters in Goliath and Max Force could have been great. Though they missed out on a lot of potentials if they were not so short in ride time. I have to say the last major ride addition has not been built there since Raging Bull in my opinion. Since Americas Eagle has been such a staple attraction to the park. In my opinion, there are only two options for this ride. First I do agree, this being RMC'ed like Twisted Colossus would be awesome. It would bring back a lot of credits for potential records. That is they keep the whole footprint of the ride with some RMC magic tweaks. Second, they can put the complete overhaul treatment for the 40 anniversary. Which would allow it to continue to be a top tier wooden roller coaster in the park for years to come. If and I mean if the ride had to go, six flags need to bring in something huge to replace it. Like a giga coaster or bigger to bring back a really big main attraction like America Eagle did when it first opened. That is if they can get around the area's height restrictions.
They never have 2 trains going at least all the times I’ve ridden it
Joey Weinstock its my home park and both trains are going a majority of the times i was there
I like the idea and it could happen maybe but the biggest problem is how close it sits next to the interstate. At the least A.E does need some kind of reVAMP
Also it doesn't race because when both are on the big helix, the wood structure shakes
2:13 T-Express has joined the chat
I like American eagle 😢 it’s a fun woodie with good airtime and I like the roughness cuz it beats u up really bad and it’s fun
And RMC can go all out with this since Goliath was just a taste
0:05 - What the heck is that on the sides of the lift hill?
Brakes of some kind i believe (i could be wrong)
PlayStyle Gamer // Syde-Leader Ray they look to be sensors or breaks
I would’ve thought cameras
This is my home park and this is the best ride at the park and I have ridden Goliath and raging bull the bumpiness makes it fun you guys are all just baby’s
Yes
that eagle line is fuckin ridiculous, but they should rmc it , yes save the eagle
Though the idea of an rmc eagle is great it makes goliath obsolete what is really needs is a massive repair close it down for a season restore the whole thing and bring back racing in the coaster it was the lifeblood of such a historic woodie give it ace status as well
It’s 40 years old but it still runs like gold
The helix is rough as hell
I feel like the only option is either rmc or replace it with a whole new ride
Lmao that ending.
But I thought I was the only one who was shocked at just how long Eagle's queue line is. I know it was redirected for Kidzopolis but I'm always out of breath when I get on the ride because when I get up there there's never a wait.
Honestly if they plan on keeping the long queue line they really need to put a moving walkway on it
This is my home park and that que line is terrible. I will admit it
Very similiar to rolling thunder at sfgda people didnt want it gone.
Another Classic AI
Yes please RMC it. It was my favorite ride 25 years ago, I barely ride it now
Liked or not American Eagle will be around forever.
As much as I love Eagle, it would be rad to see an RMC of it! It could be the Twisted Colossus of the Midwest!
I just want them to race again =(
I remember a ride Op at Goliath saying we should get our last rides on American Eagle, said it was closing. what a troll.
0:50 not a lot of people ride it, most of trains in the video are full
i loved riding it backwards
Even if you gave an honest opinion on why RMC American Eagle should happen. American Eagle as it is still a blast, and with Great America already has an RMC, I don't think this is necessary (plus they already considered RMC'ing American Eagle before RMC use the land where Iron Wolf was so they can make Goliath).
Now if they are ever going to update American Eagle, I think they should hire either Gravity Group or even GCI to retrack American Eagle. And if they choose GCI, they could either retrack the ride or use their new Hybrid Track (So they can even make it a dueling Möbius Coaster, No Inversions Though).
Agreed. Maybe try to add a launch
But the park can not touch the helix as the land it sits on is partially owned by the Village of Gurnee and the fact the park is not allowed to refurbish or even touch it is stupid as It’s like Six Flags basically has a toy that’s being shared but the sibling being Gurnee won’t let it have a turn. And just getting permission to do modifications would require a settlement on this action. It’s just a completely frustrating mess.
Nah making it a titan track treatment it would defeat the purpose of them having it just making it bitter smooth just defeats the purpose of it and they would’ve been better off rmcing it
American Eagle isn't that rough compared to a few other wooden coasters ive ridden. Viper was rougher than it was during my visit last summer and far less enjoyable. Goliath even had some sections of jackhammering that were every bit as rough as AE in the back of the train. It's ok to have a little roughness. It adds character. Also its a much better ride than the beast, unless you mean the beast at night which really doesn't count since the day to night experiences are so vastly different and night is the only time that ride is remotely interesting with the exception of the helix. I thought AE was great fun, especially the red side. It's a great candidate for RMC to convert or demolish and replace with a single rail coaster back there though. Its definitely showing its age. Also, two hybrids? I mean i know the topper track woodies are closer to hybrid coasters than something like AE but there would only be one hybrid in the park if this were done. Goliath isn't actually a hybrid.
Viper has been rough from day one.
rmc is a good idea but keep some iconic features and preserve the helix or make the helix interesting.
I enjoy AE but I’d rather see a trex coaster put there.
I think AE is to structurally compromised at this point to RMC. They have been trying to wring as much service out of it before the end.
It's not rough I mean if it is its got a rumble but not that bad. I mean it's my home park and it's my favorite. It's going to get a retrack because we need a elite wooden ride I mean viper is great but we need a good wooden ride. But re tracking is going to save six flags money and we all know sixflags is cheep. So if the remove that ride the probably gonna out some worse or a clone of something like the Jersey Devil I just don't want one of my favorite Woodies go. I mean it still pull good crowds on some days. All I'm saying it's that the GP over exaggerate about it being rough. It really isn't try to sit on the right side of the train and it is soooo much smoother. Well that's opinion don't take hate cuz im putting up a argument. But have a good day bye
What is RMC?
Stratagem Rocky Mountain Construction. An American coaster manufacturer based in Idaho. Famous for overhauling old, bad wooden roller coasters with new ‘iron horse’ track to give a better ride experience. They also make wooden coasters that can invert, and single rail coasters called raptors. Examples of RMC roller coasters are Steel Vengeance, Twisted Colossus, Outlaw run, Lightning Rod, and Railblazer.
This^
wdym American Eagle runs so well sure its rough in a few spots but its my favorite ride by far. Its actually so fun.
Different strokes for different folks I suppose
Nah fam
Goliath isn’t a Hybrid, it’s topper track wood
They better not take it down id be pissed af id break my neck b4 they can take that down and when they do they need to leave a part of the track preferably the circle part
Sorry to burst you bubble but Gurnee has like a law or rule (what ever it is) that they can’t destroy something that big and that close to the highway
Well they wouldn’t be destroying it they would still keep most of the structural supports so I would imagine that if Six Flags really wanted to RMC Eagle they could get around it
Attraction Ideas but the reason why it can’t race is because of the structure. The most shaky part is the helix and that is right next to the highway
That’s true, but they could always add supports to it or reinforce it in a way that technically wouldn’t be destroying it. That being said, your point is definitely valid and could be a significant hurdle for Six Flags if they opt to do this
I heard that they can either re-track or rmc and still be within Gurnee's laws, they just can't to a complete teardown because if they do, they'll lose the land
Attraction Ideas yeah that seems most reasonable. Now the next thing we need to worry about is the ptc trains
Or, intamin can just re-track the whole thing
If Intamin retracks it with their pre-fabricated track...
Prefab track is far too expensive, they’d go the GCI or Gravity Group route. It’d maintain the classic woodie feel
I just dont think Six Flags will pay for it in their current position, with how big it is it would be incredibly expensive to build, RMC isn't as cheap anymore either. I really do wish it could happen and break some cool records but financially I dont see it working out, I could see that the way it could end is in a state of standing but not operating as sad as it is.
instead of an RMC eagle, add a giga.
Six flags would never do that with the state of six flags is going right now
You over exaggerated the roughness of this ride. It isn't as rough as you say. You just rode it on a bad day. And they can't race it because it is so old that the structure can't take both of those heavy trains going over it at the same time. You do make some good points here though.
The eagle has landed! I repeat the eagle has landed... in the scrapyard
Bro American eagle is the best coaster in the park and I have ridden goliath

I have a proposition for em.
Tear down hurricane harbor, put something NICE in there, and either turning AE into a gci or rmc. Thank you, god bless great america.
Also, thanks for scarring me for life from that ending, bud...
YOU'RE PAYING FOR MY THERAPY
Sorry about that old sport!
They definitely aren't going to get rid of hurricane harbor since they're adding a water coaster for the 2020 season
@@playerstar252 yeah, too late now but a person can dream, eh?
Nah hurricane harbor makes way too much money and usually has as many or occasionally more people there than the dry park
Just pull a Hakugei
Six flags could never afford to pull a hakugei
I would rather them tear it down and use that space for the first RMC T. rex
That’ll never happen😂
They wouldn’t be able to build there
Apparently the only reason American Eagle is still standing is because it was grandfathered into a law saying they can’t build anything too close to the highway so if they tore it down it’d be wasted space that had potential for a world class coaster that’s why people have been saying rmc or retracking they can do that since it’s modification not replacement
Rmc One side
JUST LEAVE EAGLE ALONE! JUST PUT GCI TITAN TRACK ON IT! Your welcome
Personally I love American eagle and it should not be on seed I would not like to have a goliath American eagle and viper all RMC OK personally I think your life is enough OK I think the life is in the pharmacies OK but like American Eagle is like like the it’s like the OG right there in like it it brings back so nostalgia like it brings back so much nostalgia so I don’t want like the snow in the salt Nostalgia being ruined by it being RMC to personally I think steel vengeance great ride Goliath great ride it should stay as an RMC but here’s the thing with American eagle American eagle is so original like that was my first wooden coaster I rode and like the first time I wrote it it was like well if you want to remove it because it’s rough draft in a fun way it’s not like viper where your head gets chopped off off but American eagle it just warms my heart that ride and I would hate for it to be I am seed OK
